I love that you let this spectacular song play without stopping. You’re taken on a rollercoaster ride. Starting slow, then the slopes get steeper and higher. Then you land with heart thumping, and glide into his ending. Great reaction.
Now, you need to check out a) the original, by Simon & Garfunkel, and b) the cover by Pentatonix. Which of the three versions do you think is the best?
I read once that Paul Simon called him after this performance to tell him how much he loved the cover. I met Disturbed by accident once and honestly, they were the nicest guys ever.
I was a kid when Simon and Garfunkel released this song, 1964. My two older sisters listened to this daily. I must agree with you, Disturbed offers the most powerful version of the song, by far. I still get goose bumps. Also, I have respect for you for not interrupting the song. Big hugs.....🙏
Thank you so much, he totally took this song and made it a Masterpiece, I really felt every word. This is absolutely incredible. Thank you for the kind words.🙏☺️
@@shockwavereact I was 10 in ‘64. This version hit this 70 year old geezer like a truck when I saw it first. I can’t count the times I sit here yelling at the DJ to shut up! Thank you; no yelling required!
He's not only a trained cantor, this particular performance he was very ill. David also suffers from extreme acid reflex. After concerts, David doesn't interact with the rest of the band because he has to rest his voice. Being a leader singer is actually a lonely role. They shine on stage and after the curtain comes down, that's it. Unlike musicians who might suffer from an injury, they can pretty much still perform. A singers instrument is their voice and an injury to their vocal chords, can be very bad. I have seen my share of vocalist come and go through the business and David is truly an amazing and talented man. Very humble and spiritual as well. A class act all the way around.
I heard the cover and the original compared this way: Simon and Garfunkel's gentle song was a warning, and Disturbed's (David Draiman) angry version is now the accusation.
Ever wonder what Paul Simon thought of Disturbed's 2015 rendition of Simon & Garfunkel's "The Sound of Silence"? During a recent interview on The Howard Stern Show, the iconic singer/songwriter/guitarist shared his thoughts on the cover. "I liked it very much… It was accomplished very well." David Draiman & Disturbed did an amazing rendition of song & gave it a new boost to new young generation to enjoy.
Disturbed -The Sound of Silence video has over 1 BILLION views in 8 YEARS. 1 Billion seconds is equal to 33 years. This means, that more than three almost four people, had to click play, every second of every day for 8 years. WOW!!!
Great cover. Very haunting, powerful, and soulful. Also liked the way the song was interpreted. My favorite rendition is from Simon and Garfunkel, but I'm glad their song is viewed as being so good that it is still being covered by current artists. Not around the corner, but sometime in the future I hope you react to more Simon and Garfunkel.
This song is so powerful, the lyrics are strong.. I like the his version too, sang really good. I will still be checking out more from Simon and Garfunkel.
@@shockwavereactAlso, Forestella covered this song back on the 1st June 2019…worthwhile checking their version out and of course the other one they did was Scarborough Fair ….also a Simon and Garfunkel cover of a 500+ year old folk song/ballad. I recommend you listen to both the original and FORESTELLA’s version for 4 voices…❤🎉 😊loved your reaction to this version ❤
@diva51 Seriously! I love watching the reaction of first time listeners. But as someone that has watched many such moments, I know every nuance, every expression change on David’s face, etc., it never gets old, just more intense! Listening to someone talking through the entire thing, I sit here yelling at them to STFU!

Disturbed is a heavy metal band. Disturbed - Down With The Sickness (Official Music Video) [HD UPGRADE] This is very popular you will love it. PS: your quite attractive.
Okay, I should check that out, he’s got a voice I would love to hear sing the heavy metal music, I’ll check out the one you suggested. Thank you for the kind words 🙏☺️
That power you heard at the end represents anger- angry that the people would not listen, angry that they continued to worship the false god they had made, angry that they cannot see the messages right in front of them.
The lead singer that is so incredibly talented, also is an incredibly kind man. He stopped a concert mid way through because he witnessed a child being pushed around, though the parents were trying to be protective, the girl was scared. The lead singer, David Draiman, really went out of his way to make sure this child was okay and also having a good time. He was so sweet to this girl that it is truly an emotional exchange. Seriously, its such a heart warming interaction that I truly encourage you take the time to check it out. th-cam.com/video/-6uMhLdG29M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=pFtNVeVUEBfIzdjj
I rarely think a remake is better than the original, but this is perfect 😎
This is absolutely perfect 💯👍🏽
Yes, Disturbed are quite good!! Love your reaction. Hard to believe he had a cold when he sang this.
A cold, hard to believe too, it was so perfectly done.
If you haven't listened/watched the official music video - I think it adds some depth and meaning - Incredible

David Draiman had a flu when he did this performance and still killed it!!! ❤🤘
