How do I know who is playing at the moment?

At a high level, a single miss or bad safety can cost the game. Compare that to 9-ball, alternate break.

Why did the audio keep cutting in and out?

There are allot of amateur 8 and 9 ball players out there that never play 14-1. And most think this game is easy,,shoot any ball you want?? Right??
But it is amazing how many times balls are spread, but there is NO shot. Many balls only need fractions to go into the pocket clean,, all around,,,but none will go. Its like someone is playing tricks on you and placing the cue in just the right spot that 5 or 6 balls are so close, but yet will NOT go in. And it happens allot,,at least, to me while playing this game.
It is much harder to clear 14 balls than it looks. Thats not even considering the leave for the break shot.

The ultimate game of position. Trying to navigate the table where your last pocketed ball puts you in position for a great break shot.

It is a very cerebral game, akin to chess in a way.

True. If straight pool is played correctly, it looks very easy because, ideally, you never leave yourself with a difficult shot. Of course, consistently putting the cue ball exactly where it needs to be for the next shot is a bit harder than it looks...

So it sounds like Earl is being his wacky self again? Does anyone know what antics he did that they alluded to here?
If tournament directors started banning him for his bad behaviour 30 years ago they wouldn't be in this position.

Idk, 14.1 has bragging rights for the player with consecutive successes, but for audience enjoyment, not as interesting as one pocket or rotation. Jmtc

@@nothingsimpostleble1593 : my feeling as well first few times I tried watching. I got so bored with 9 ball once I dug in and watched a few hill hill matches. The much more challenging shots and strategy turned me into a fan.

@@paukenkiger Snooker is cool to watch I know they're on monster tables and the balls are a lot smaller so yeah I can mess with Snooker saying that as an American LOL

One pocket is extremely interesting for ONE POCKET PLAYERS! (Which I am) For people that don't play the game it's torture.
