    I'm from virginia and grew up listening go go trouble, chuck brown, rare essence I seen at a local club and I have always been a go go head. My family lives all around the DC metro area and my entire family is in baltimore, I went to vsu from 86 to 88 and really got exposed to the essence of go go and the culture, it blew me away. I can honestly say go go is something everyone should experience

    The great American funk band from Washington, D.C. that helped to popularize the sub genre known as "go-go," Trouble Funk remains a thriving institution on the Washington D.C. area live music scene. Presented here is their classic 1983 album "In Times Of Trouble" featuring the late Robert "Syke Dyke" Reed (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards); James Avery (lead vocals, keyboards); Tony Fisher (lead vocals, bass); Mack Carey (drums, percussion); Chester Davis (guitar); Alonzo Robinson (percussion); Timothy David (percussion); David Rudd (saxophone); Lorenzo Wheatley (saxophone); Mark Gilbert (saxophone); Dean Harris (trumpet); Taylor Reed (trumpet) and Stephen Baxter (trombone). All selections newly remastered in 2014.
    1983.

    Think back to having a show like this live and recorded from a PA system cassette of those shows. Then someone with a boom box on the Metrobus playing it loud either going or coming from school. You hoped that person didn't get off the bus before you did? Those were the good ole days!

    • @forgiveandmoveon
      @forgiveandmoveon 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can relate. Me to because I wanted to hear those sounds some more before the person got off the bus. I remember those days as a youngster. Especially when I use to go up town as youngster on Georgia Ave in NW.

    No doubt that "Saturday Night Live" is a classic and was rolling at plenty of parties back in the 1980s. This thing should be released on CD in the US. I believe there was a version overseas. Anyway you won't find too many (if any) live joints better than this. Big Tony and the boys were in a league of their own.

    Junk Yard, (EU) Experience Unlimited and Trouble Funk created GO GO. Talented African American Washingtonian Brothers created a beat that is loved by many people. Some of these brothers started using 5 and 10 gallon empty paint containers and sticks to create a beat people will never forget.

    You are definitely right about starting shit!! I was about 9 years old once when my parents took us out and almost got trampled on because the crowd went crazy when somebody yelled out somebody had a gun! This was in the early 80's and ever since then I get nervous when in SE!!
