Who knew? I have my grandparent’s Last Supper painting and I did not know anything about the meaning. Thank you! I wish other works of art could be explained like this one to us.
Thank you for this beautiful, touching and enlightening video. Amazing the beauty of the painting and revelation of what the genius DaVinci depicted. God Bless you and all who are lifted by this information.
I've had my parents rather large Last Supper print in my dining room the last 5 years. I enjoyed learning all of this. My print is apparently not a DaVinci because there are slight differences. There is a cup of spilled salt in front of Judas on mine. I looked up what it symbolized once but have forgotten. Thank you for doing this! I looked up again and it reads that spilled salt was supposed to bring bad luck. 🤷♀️ I can't tell if there's spilled salt in this but what I looked up it reads there is. My print has it much more visible.
Makes me think of Matthew 5:13, that Judas "lost his taste..." “You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot."
Kathy, I saw the artwork around 1980, prior to this resurgence of interest. It was so fragile; thus light in colour that smaller objects could have been manipulated. Restoration was in progress. Rebecca Ann Grubb
Thank you for sharing this!! It helped answer a lot of questions I had. My painting also has the salt spilled but it doesn’t have Peter holding a knife. Why is that?
The Narrator doesn’t comment on the cultural significance of the bracelets on Jesus’ extended hand. I’m sure da Vinci had a meaning there. What’s interesting too is that the bracelets look a lot like the ones young people wear today. My comment is not to take away from the Narration, not at all.
This is such an amazing and beautiful explanation of The Last Supper! I’m here because of the recent controversy in Paris.
Thank you for the clarification of all the apostles.Good Company always gives me the best spiritual direction..

Looking at the image at the one-minute mark, I'm 95% sure those are just Jesus' sleeves.
there is not bracelet, just Jesus's inner tunic and on top of it the outer one, wrist part of the sleeve.
