Bro same. I think it's got to do with music evolution and people's attention spans. Whenever I listen to new songs it feels like my ears are being assaulted with non-stop loud noises. Like they were made for Tiktok sound bytes. Listening to older music feels like my eardrums are getting a rest and I can actually enjoy it. Even Presets whose style is loud still sounds muted compared to the obnoxious crap being pumped out today.
This is part of the soundtrack to my year of travelling. First heard this on the beach at Byron Bay, Australia after learning to surf. Great times, great memories, great song!
Brilliant @Quantum Grizzly :) Music definitely shows us time-travel is Absolutely real and happening for each of us Every day! i live on the road in my van. Art supplies. Guitars. And Every time i play my old songs. Yep. Right back there... Peace and love andria
I have been waiting for years a band that could take my breath away like the bands from the 80s did. This band does it, every track is incredible. Their training and talent is amazing.
I discovered this tune 7 years after its release. But I LOVE it !! I'm 60 but I loved this song the first time I heard it. This video does it justice too.
I'm gonna take a moment to be self-indulgent here- I was around 16 when Apocalypso was released and I thought the whole album was so great, it was a type of music I hadn't heard much of before. So I wanted to show my friends but when I did they didn't appreciate it in the slightest. It's 2017 and I still love the Presets' music just as much, while those friends have all grown out of the music they were listening to at the time.
Listened to it 10 times in a row, cant stop listening at 5AM in the morning, this song put me back in time, awsome song. Dont know how i found this feelgoodsong.
The Presets have got to do more songs like this. Utilising the deep vocals instead of electronic music. I love their other music but this song and Ghosts stand out.
have you heard their new album hi viz? so disappointed there aren't any songs like this. he masks his voice and shit and it's like oh, a bit sad really. good but not great and still sad we can't hear this awesome voice like this.
Have you ever heard "The Girl and the Sea"? Its their best non-dance ballad ever. Makes me tear up a bit thinking of the self-discribed mermaid I was dating back then.
I was looking for this song day and night everyday. I kept typing the "I hope I never, I hope I never have to We're a waste of time" lyrics and some gibberish but it never came up on google. I found this by looking through my old iTunes playlist! THANK GOSH!
I love this song and The Presets! They're a part from my best years of my Childhood!! Since 2009 I haven't heard this great song until March 2021!!! Greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽!
its good to see how these youth are doing what they enjoy with there friends without having disrespect for people or property, they are full of confidence strutting across the bridge and the hypnotic trance dance around the fire at the end could make them be mistaken as devil worshippers. great song and matching clip.
Wow, exactly 13 years has gone already... Today ( February 15th) in 2009 was released this song with the video. Greetings from Mexico🇲🇽, after long time ago this song is a personal anthem for me, specific the lyric "I'm always learning things in the hard, hardest way!" So true. Thank you The Presets since 2008.
I've loved this song, ever since I was a child, every single time I hear it, I cannot help but feel inspired.. This song actually touches me and makes me feel unlike any other song.
true, I'm from central Europe (Slovakia) and know them very well, but I'm sure not so much people here know about them, but it's still one of the world's best bands in this music category and I know many of them, these boys are really good at what they do and definitely one of the best in Australia (and one of the most famous abroad) :)
This was my official break up song from somebody who seems to be just a the singer is describing. Really helped me. Its funny how music or a song can sympathise with you and help you sometimes better than a friend or family ever could.
This has to be one of my favorite music videos ever...There's just something about it, the way it builds...There's a sort of tangible exhilaration to the dancing and everything. I don't know quite how to say it, haha.
Given the geographic isolation of Australia, the evolution of indigenous species produced some of the most unique animals on the globe. The evolution of Australian music can be seen following a similar pattern with the PRESETS on top of the food chain. Phenomenal music and the best live performance I've ever seen.
by day burning up the pavement on rodeo drive, meeting up with friends and strutting there confidence while crossing the bridges,by night they become trancy fire dances, very hipnotic boy that is so cool,i wish i had that kind of friendship and energy..yeah i think the song is great to.
By day dancing down Hollywood Blvd. before linking up with friends, strutting our confidence across the bridge and in the suburbs, when night falls we are transformed into hypnotic trancy devil worshipers. COOL
I met these boys.. sincerely have been in love even before they got famous. Go Aussie talent. You take me home every time I hear you even though I'm living in the uk these days x
This songs originality is what drew me in, the slightly off beat singing makes sets it apart and they carry it off in a way I wouldn't have thought would work. There are very few bands that can carry the sound that the Presets offer. This is such a beautiful song and I love the film clip.
I'll never forget this song was new while on my honeymoon nearly 12 years ago and we listened to it over and over and now the words turned out to be about him... clever liar really fooled us all and I sure learnt the hard hard hardest way!
Presets not gay ,this was written from a female perspective ,[saw you lyin in the arms of another GIRL ] they couldn't find the right girl with "the balls" to sing it just right ,im glad ,no one else could sing it like this .top marks .
The presets have been and remain one of the best live performances you can see. The best part, you usually get a bunch of 25-40 year olds going wild for them. Very few zoomers.
I sent this to a friend of mine, and, afraid of being judged as always, I tried to explain what makes this video so beautiful and inspiring, but couldn't. It shows the beauty of youth in a very unique way.
So ahead of their time. I think we can credit them for how techno/electronica/dance is now mainstream and given the credit it deserves. Seen them NYE @Bondi beach 2008 and it was incredible STRAYA!!! I❤❤❤
I remember the first time I saw this video was in logo. Ever since i find this song very unique because of the perspective from a woman's point of view, but sung by a man
Alyssa, just because a person is singing a song in first person doesn't mean they wrote it about themselves (they may not even be the person who wrote it). Remember: songs are tales, just like films; sometimes it's a documentary, sometimes it's just great (and fictional) story with characters who have nothing to do with the writer and/or performer's personal life.

The most wonderful video in the whole-wide world! I love it so much! The psychology of it makes me happy. Plus, the music...it is perfect! Abrasive too! Oh, I just love it! Could listen to the song for many moons! Thanks very much for the posting of such greatness! Those kids are so in tune with what they know, and that they know who they are! I am the same...we should all be that way! Beautiful!
I remember my first time. February of 2009 was during my sophomore year of high school. I was getting onto TH-cam, and this was a featured video. It looked interesting, so I clicked it. It probably took about a minute or two for what was to be a week-long addiction to set in. I. Love. This. Video. They created something very special here.
It's so scary how bands like the presets only have 17k subscribers. What the hell has happened in this world that such good music goes unnoticed.
All by design!

I have been waiting for years a band that could take my breath away like the bands from the 80s did. This band does it, every track is incredible. Their training and talent is amazing.
Speaking of the 80s, this song's lyrics are similar to Split Enz's I Hope I Never.
To date, this is still one of my favourite Preset Tracks. It's a great balance of meaningful deep lyrics and energetic euphoric beats.
You might like 'Fall' another one of their tracks
I'm 60 but I loved this song the first time I heard it. This video does it justice too.
