    Helpful. but we magically came up with the equation . I would like to see derivation of the formulas.

    Where would the material strength factor come into play when calculating how thick a pressure vessel needs to be?

    hello sir, my name is abdul haris, i came from indonesia, i wanna ask you about pipe stress analysis, from what i know stress in pipe and in cylinders almost same, my final task is about pipe stress analysis in pipe bend using Ansys and then validating with analytical calculation and the output is von mises stress, to know von mises i have to search principal stress in 3 axis, i used hoop and radial stress in your explanation, but the axial stress i use longitudinal stress which is sum of axial stress, internal pressure and moment bending, can you explain to me how to calculate moment bending in pipe bend please ? thank you sir

    once you have the stresses, are these to be checked against the normal limit design stress of the material?

    For calculating thickness of pipe, i needed value of Circumferential Stress of ASTM a106 gr b,
    Can anyone help me out with the value? I could not find it on google

    How about a swimming pool. I am trying to build a pool wall with cinder blocks 24ft diameter. I want to use a band around each row, there will be 7, and need to know what the tensile strength of the band needs to be.

    considering Lame's equation I am little bit confused about the tangential (Hoop) stress distribution and radial stress distribution.sign convention in book is different for hoop and radial. whether to take p0-pi or pi-po.

    i have a question,
    longitudinal stress try to increase the length of the vessel and
    radial stress try to increase the diameter of the vessel .what about hoop stress ? what hoop stress will do?

    • @wahlstrasser898
      @wahlstrasser898 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hoop stress prevent the vessel from explosion. Google state of stress and you will find a proper answer.

  • @tarunnallur8834
    @tarunnallur8834 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    If I am not mistaken, your formulas for hoop stress and radial stress are wrong. The +- sign in the middle is meant to be the opposite for both.

      tarun nallur are you sure about it? I could not go through the derivation that was given in the book they seemed to have different expression that was way too long. I learned the concept from this video only. So if you are sure about what you said please let know

    How is the mean diameter larger that the diameter? Shouldn't is be (100mm+150mm) / 2.......
    Dm = 125mm?

    • @akshaysingh4712
      @akshaysingh4712 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      he wrote radius, then worked out the diameter. so the mean diameter would be ((2x100)+(2x150))/2

    sir,
    For a thin wall vessel; D/t>=20 or r/t >=20 ?
    I am confused as in some papers it is the ratio of radius to that of thickness.
