Pontio sounds like such a cool place!! At Bath there's also loooooads of hills too so you always have to allow plenty of time for them but it also means there's loads of amazing views so positives and negatives 😅

Yes it’s the same here there’s loads of hills but amazing hills and it’s super close to Snowdonia here so it makes sense for it to be hilly

Bangor is my firm choice for creative writing and modern languages so this is very informative and reassuring

The Spanish course at Bangor University. How would you describe it in terms of teaching for advanced or beginner learners, assessments, workload, teacher support and the strengths and weaknesses of it overall

The support from the lecturers is amazing throughout the whole of the modern languages department. All the lecturers use a first name basis, you can email them whenever and they quickly respond and you can see them during their office hours. It’s a small department so the lecturers know each of their students by name. I didn’t do beginners Spanish, I did beginners French but the structure of all the MFL courses are the same, so you are with a native speaker for at least 3 out of your 4 first year contact hours per core language modules. You have more contact hours dw but it’s the core ones that really focus on the language. The 1 hour I had with a non native speaker was for grammar. Throughout the course of the degree conversation classes are always with a native speaker and currently all of the members of Spanish department are native speakers. However I don’t know whether there will be any changes to the MFL department come September but every year I have been there, there has been some changes but the Spanish department has always only been native speakers and hasn’t changed much at all.
I’ve spoken about the workload and assessments in a previous video about studying languages at university in general , as the style of the assessments and workload was the same throughout the MFL department. As you can imagine though studying any language comes with putting in a lot of hours out of class even if you don’t have assignments or exam coming up because language immersion is important so like watching TV shows or the news etc. in your target language in your free time is super important
