    SHINee retro songs hit different. Their voices (especially when their voices blend, it sounds so beautiful) make the retro sound sound fresh and bright.

    And with that, the Retro series is over. Really loved all the Sweetune songs here. Funny enough, the moment f(x) - 4 Walls played, I immediately said that SHINee - View was next since they both were produced by LDN Noise. Another fun thing about one of these songs is that Teddy Riley, one of the main people who helped push New Jack Swing, noticed BTOB - Wow and has also produced songs for EXO, SHINee, and Girls’ Generation. As always, I love the Retro series and I can’t wait for more of your content.

      It’s not completely over. I want to do a video on unique songs that pull from different world sounds. I still might come back and do more retro songs round up again later. We’ll see. Thanks for watching!

    Earlier retro concepts are pretty hit or miss for me; I love funk but not so much for jazz/swing. But the 80's/90's concepts are my favorites. Anything with an instrumental that sound like it's from 1980's, I eat it up like it's breakfast. Add in some rock elements and I'm love.

    I believe there are some songs that take retro inspiration but still belong to the "present". There are songs that genuinely take you to the retro decade in question. Then there are songs that are kinda in the middle, which I describe as "having ascended timelessness".
    What do you think are examples of each?

    • @tatianacabral4988
      @tatianacabral4988 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Most of currently retro inspired songs don't give me any kind of nostalgia. Idk, they sound so "try hard". Like Rock With You by Seventeen or Chimat Baram by Brave Girls. But some songs like Catallena by Orange Caramel - that give me truly ABBA Gimme!Gimme!Gimme! feels - First Love by After School or (to be less boomer) Mago by Gfriend are so nostalgic that makes me travel through time. Now, songs that I think are in the middle... maybe I Can't Stop Me by Twice or Dream of You by Chungha. They're obviously inspired by retro sounds but not emanate that nostalgic vibes.

    That said, the 80s and 90s sounds are overly addictive and just iconic. To pick a favorite track is like picking between your children. I love this series! The retro music style and concept is my favorite in Kpop! I was wondering where you think some of Verivery’s songs would be placed according to the time they were influenced? For example, the songs Ring Ring Ring, From Now, Tag Tag Tag, Super Special, and Beautiful-X seem influenced by something older/retro but i dont know what. Maybe New Jack Swing?
