I just put this model in my old Mercury Sable. Now, the tech just paired it up and the bluetooth began flawlessly. Needless to say, I was impressed. Starting the next day, confounded was more like it. The little battery/antenna icon would not light up, thus no sound. Then, I would park, shut off ignition, TURN ON ACCESSORIES, and only then the battery/antenna lights would illuminate and I would have bluetooth. Thanks a bunch, I needed it DURING the drive, not afterwards! Obviously, as I figured, I am not the only person with the issue. Called the tech and he said, yeah bring it out any time... oh sure the other side of town, I can do that anytime, I am not busy :- { Just for posterity, I must add the sound is the best I have heard, much better than the Pioneer I had in my previous car.
I'm having the same problem with my HTC One X. It's definitely an Android problem, as it started happening as soon as my phone updated to 4.2.2. Music plays through the default Music app, but nothing else. I did get the phone and navigational audio to work when I uninstalled Google Play Music, but Spotify and Stitcher still won't work. (I haven't tried Pandora.) I've called HTC several times. A reset of the phone didn't help (though I did have to go and reinstall all my apps, which was time-consuming), and twice now they've "escalated" my issue to their special task force. I'm supposed to get a call back from Seal Team 6 within 2 or 3 days.
Yo tengo el deh-hd149bt y descubri que desde que descargue la app tuneit se desconectaba la aplicacion, la desistale y se soluciono el problema, pero no sale el nombre de las canciones en la unidad, no se que hacer ahora
Try closing out google play, and I believe this stereo BT is designed for iPod/iphone, I thought BT was BT but apparently this is a problem with a lot of stereos. If you get on amazon or eBay and read the description a lot of the time it'll say BT for iPod/iphone and nothing about an android.
Hey, with regards to no. (c), that happens to me at times, but when you press Source repeatedly and shuffle through all sources and arrive back at Bluetooth, it starts working again. Not a biggie. I expect wireless devices to be quirky now and then, Alpine works reliably in all other ways though. I was hoping if you could check something for me, my sound quality distorts past volume level 23-24. I'm not sure if it's the speakers or the headunit, but considering it's pumping out 18w RMS and 50w max, and the fact that it's Alpine, I didn't expect it to do that
the fact that it doesn't have enough power is why you get clipping. by adding a smaller 4 channel amp to the car you can reach a high clearer volume. if a speaker doesn't have enough power it can not control the speaker well enough at high volumes.I know it sounds weird, but there might be a video on here to explain why speaker clipping happens to help you understand.
hi:) have you found a solution? i have the exact same problem and its pretty enoying. my phone is: htc one m8 and it haappens on my wifes phone to and she have iPhone 6...please answer me if you have solution :) thanks
I'm having same issues her with same model..i have a galaxy note 2.. won't play pandora. .will load music from my files..but no sound..i can also make a phone call..still no sound
help please, i'm about to get a car stereo. the chose is between Alpine and Pioneer. Alpine CDE-173BT and Pioneer MVH-X580BT. Which one reads USB faster? Which one has better sound? please help.
kukurishk I've had 2 car stereos since the Alpine that I discuss in this video. The second was a Blaupunkt, the third was a Pioneer MVH-X390BT, which I've been using for about 1.5 years now. The Pioneer is BT only, plus a radio. The Pioneer has been the most reliable as far as BT goes. Never a BT connection issue. It's rock solid. Also, the BT audio sounds great (way better than the other two stereos), even on my meager OEM replacement speakers (in a Toyota Matrix). The bass, midrange, and treble are all clear and solid. Maybe the Pioneer just has a better internal amplifier than the other two I had. And, my Android Google play EQ works with this radio.
My samsung galaxy j5 pro android phone connects to my Alpine CDE-178BT car unit but doesnt wana play music anymore from phone can someone help me please
the issue is to part problem dealing with android bug but also has to deal Bluetooth adtp being able to pair multiple things once so the idea is you can one device for audio media, and one device you can talk and all being paired at the same time the way I fix it is by disable the stream on the blue tooth until I want to use it it's crappy work around I I know I think I know with my galaxy it did that until the last update.
When I paired my Android I first paired it under Bluetooth not Audio. I have no problem with it, but since it is so close to the head unit I just plug it in to Aux. and use that. Sound is better too. Only thing I use BT for is phone..
Sorry if a bit off topic, but I've been searching online and cannot find an answer. My alpine unit same as yours automatically answer all incoming calls. I would like to disable that feature. Anyone know how to?
Auto answer can also be a setting on the phone check that first, and then sometimes there is a setting in the Bluetooth menu on the radio usually called auto answer.
i had the same issues with my alpine 72 BT, bluetooth update doesn't solve problem, Alpine car hifi bluetooth sucks, Alpine back to shop, bought Pioneer.
Dude I seriously feel your pain I bought this one out of the junkyard hey did you smash your car and just leave your stereo in there because dude mine's doing the same thing it was working fine for the TH-cam but I had to have something done and so I think I paused TH-cam and did what I had to do and they came back and then paused it now I can't even use it auxiliary it keeps telling me it's paused ever get an answer to your question
With my Belkin Aircast, Android will usually start autoplaying whatever music app I have running in the background when bluetooth connects. If you don't want Play Music to autoplay when your bluetooth connects, make sure it isn't running. I just bought this unit today and installing it tomorrow... hope not to have this issue :-|
Okay, after testing with my newly installed unit, here's what I can report: With my Nexus 4 (4.3 AOKP custom rom), it works perfectly. It says 'Searching' like on yours, but as soon as I fire up Slacker, it says 'BT A' or whatever and starts playing music. Well, one thing I can't get it to do is dial over bluetooth... I select the number, hit the phone icon, and it does nothing. However, since I never use this function anyway, it's no biggie. With my Moto X (4.4 stock, unrooted), it plays bluetooth audio, but I can't hear any audio from Google Maps when it speaks to give turn-by-turn directions. This is apparently a common problem with Maps, not specifically with this unit. Since this is a work phone and I don't use it with Maps, I'm not inclined to troubleshoot it. Overall, it's got a few issues, but currently does what I need it to do, so I'm satisfied :)
You need to set on youtube or youtube Music not to get triggered by any Bluetooth connection. The other problem you have I don't have idea how to fix it. I had the same alpine CDE-143BT and my radio play everything that my phone is doing.
i know this may be technically too advanced for most people but ill share it any way, buy a fucking aux cord tbey are like 5 dollars run it from the aux port you are 2 feet away from the player plus it has better sound that eliminates all bt problems and there is no pairing or connecting, just plug it in and play what you want it really works 100% and you can even make and recieve calls that way as well your phone mic will pic up your voice cause your only gonna 2 feet from it all this blue tooth in your car is bullshit just use an aux cord
Cmon maaan that's not point here, i think he knows for aux cable, but he wants BT, cable is not practic for some people, every time u need to plug in cable, thats annoying and less secure while you driving...
that was so helpful. is that the extent of your vocabulary? My first guess would be you have a sidekick because of ignore ignorance. I'm done with TH-cam all you have are trolls and Apple users. if you can't figure out how to use an Android, that's when you have to get an apple. I've had the iPhone 3 3 S 4 4 S & 5 there has been no change and capabilities have only been Limited Apple no longer believes it needs to be an Innovative company because they know suckers will buy their product because it has an apple on the back and if you're smart enough you would put that in a case... So I asked you what is the point of buying anything Apple. I can't connect the 6s Plus tour $1,500 home stereo Denon amplifier without going through hell and back but I can connect my S6 plus or my S7 instantly... I know trolls get off on replies so I hope you enjoy! you have to admit though, Apple hasn't advanced in years and how I would take a Windows phone even over and Apple and they are God awful. LG and Samsung are just about the best brand of any phone carrier and one or the other has the most capabilities and is farther advanced mostly because Google apps allows people with ideas to produce applications. have you tried to put Kodi on your iPhone? enough said right there
Android is too advanced Apple hasn't made any changes to their phones since the 5 which just adds LTE whether they did make one of their phones larger. since Apple's CEO passed away Apple has single-handedly destroyed itself and reputation. but you probably couldn't figure out how to use an Android anyway. I work for AT&T and only grandparents come in and buy iPhones now.
I'm having same issues her with same model..i have a galaxy note 2.. won't play pandora. .will load music from my files..but no sound..i can also make a phone call..still no sound

you have play music still running thats why its android compatible so press the x on the play music

Same issue with my iPhone 7. Clearly an alpine issue.
Same problems here with a windows 7.8 phone
Alpine, please release an alternate firmware with dumbed down Bluetooth that isn't application dependent!
hi:) have you found a solution? i have the exact same problem and its pretty enoying. my phone is: htc one m8 and it haappens on my wifes phone to and she have iPhone 6...please answer me if you have solution :) thanks

My best guess of what the problem is that your phone is a piece of shit
The Bluetooth works perfectly fine on my iPhone 6
i have the same player and this happens on my wifes iPhone6 to
+Dikembe Mutombo i have a problem with iphone 6, no auto conect, i have to do manual, its the same for you?

I hope you don't take offence to this, but has anyone ever told you that you sound just like Kermit the frog?
very constructive.
Android problems 😂
