Hans Gruber is genuinely my favorite movie villain of all-time. He’s intelligent, charismatic, and intimidating all at the same time, and it’s all elevated by Alan Rick man’s fantastic performance. “He won’t be joining us for the rest of his life” should not be a funny line but there it is
Everyone talks about whether or not it's a Christmas movie, but nobody talks about how the guy on the plane telling him to take off his shoes is one of the best setups in cinema history.
When I was in high school, I had a single-speaker AM radio in my used '72 Dodge Colt. I could only dream of having a cassette player someday. And get off my lawn!!!
I mean, my 2007 car still has a 5 disc CD changer, I dread the day I have to say goodby to that car because having a screen in the dash is not appealing, I used it, I've thought about it, it is not more convenient than a array of buttons and nobs, that you can find and operate by touch
Guessing she's not old enough (or flown in enough older planes) to have been on a plane with built in ashtrays in the arm-rests. There was a time when one could smoke IN the airplane while it was cruising (they only asked you to extinguish them during take offs & landings)
21:54 That's all right. I tried out a deep-fried Twinkie at a fair once and did not see the appeal at all. I do miss the Hostess fruit pies, though. The company went bankrupt in 2012 and that convinced me the whole end-of-the-world thing had some weight behind it. 32:17 In case anyone was wondering: An old-timey TV or computer monitor like that will hold an electrical charge within it for _days._ It's the very reason for that warning label on the back of TV sets. He's using that charge to set off the detonator pens he jammed into the C4.
Alan's reaction when he falls was genuine fear because the director tricked him and dropped him early on 2 instead of 3. Since you loved this I recommend Red and The whole 9 yards ❤
This movie is a warm and touching romance about a man and woman who reconcile over Christmas, and the friendship of two men of different backgrounds and ethnicity to accomplish a common goal.
One of the things that makes Hans such a smart villain is that he doesn’t tell his own henchmen the complete plan, only what they need to know and when they need to know it. He improvises on the go and gives clever instructions but only in the moment. Somehow they still trust him to go ahead with what would look like a dead-end heist to most criminals. It speaks to his charm and charisma that not once do they lose confidence in him despite John complicating his plan at almost every turn.
Another thing that highlights his intellect is that he very quickly guess what McClane is attempting to do. He's never far behind John and always close to catching him. It keeps you on the edge of your seat because you never assume that McClane is safe. He's always close to losing everything.
It always warms my heart to see someone who's never seen Die Hard before, and yet on their first watch, they know in their bones and very soul, that it is definitely without a DOUBT!, that Die Hard IS a Christmas movie!! Welcome to the winner's circle Ms. Miranda I love you! haha
My favorite joke not a lot of people pick up on. When Elise goes to talk to Hans, that one henchman comes in with a can of Coke. The joke is that Hans asked Elise if there was anything they could get him and he said Coke, but he meant the drug, not the drink.
One of the reasons McClane is such a great hero is he isn’t the typical hero. He’s not super chiseled, he shows fear, his plans don’t always work, he bleeds……a lot. He’s played more human than others
If you want to see the comic side of Alan Rickman, react to GalaxyQuest, a fun sci-fi comedy. Rickman is part of a great cast including Tim Allen and Sigourney Weaver.
When this movie was released it set a whole new standard to making action-movies. It was mind-blowing to watch the first time back in the 80's. And Mirandas reaction in the right places are very satisfying, seems like she really got this movie. Die Hard 2 and 3 hold some surprises too...
11:31 this is his first movie. He was in Hollywood just a few days before taking this role. He almost didn’t take this role cause he wasn’t sure he wanted his first role to be a villain. 19:34 Alan Rickman reading the Ho-Ho-Ho off the sweatshirt is genius. 35:43 that wasn’t the coke he was asking for. They didn’t understand that he meant the drug. 40:02 the employees name was William (WM) Clay and that’s shortened to Bill Clay. 46:24 it is so a wholesome Christmas movie. Many families act like this during Christmas 😁. 51:41 Bruce improvised the Hi Honey when seeing Holly. The director told Alan Rickman that they’d drop him on 3 to help him cause he was afraid of heights. They dropped him 40’ onto an airbag on the count of one which gave them that terrified look on Hans face.
This was one of the first action movies of this time period to break the mold of the hero being a pumped up He-man like we see with Arnold and Stallone (and way no offense to those two because they also have great movies). He's kind of an everyman. More relatable to regular people. A fantastic reaction, Miranda. Thank you! (Oh, and totally a Christmas movie)
@@kyletamminen5890 He was a stage actor first. So it's not his first time acting. But his first time acting in a movie, rather than a play. And yeah. He's epic.
You are such a joy to watch. You always cause me to smile and laugh, you have a contagious reaction. Keep being awesome, Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!
Holly was the one doing the decking, otherwise they probably WOULD have that song at the end. Honestly, I'm just happy to see someone who still remembers Hans and Franz. I think I put the name Hans got put out of my head for a while with how many people I saw reacting to Star Wars that thought his name was Hans Olo. Super glad you enjoyed this one. Second one I didn't like as much (though it's still good) but the third one is fantastic! Keep it going! Love your reaction, as usual. EDIT: Oh, and also, Bill is short for William (somehow) so the fact the board said W Clay wouldn't mean it was wrong necessarily.
My favorite Alan Rickman movie is "Dogma". It's a Kevin Smith movie. If you do ever watch it, I suggest starting your Kevin Smith journey with his first movie "Clerks". Kevin used a lot of the same actors and sometimes the same characters between his movies. Some actors even played more than one character in the same movie.
I haven’t seen this mentioned yet in the comments but I’m sure it might be there. Hans’ reaction to being dropped was actually Rickman’s genuine reaction. When they dropped him for that scene, the director said they’d do it on the count of three, but they dropped him early, intentionally. So his face was his genuine reaction in that moment.
Thank you for recognizing Alan Rickman's performance in Sense and Sensibility. When taken in contrast to this movie and the Harry Potter series, his acting skills are on full display in a wonderful performance.
After watching your reactions, I think you would really REALLY like Moonlighting. It's the 80s TV show that Bruce Willis got his start on. Him and Cybil Sheperd did this same-time counter dialogue style that I know would tickle your love-of-theatre bone. Plus it's got romance.
Great reaction as always! What makes Die Hard a Christmas movie is the opening scene. John McClane is coming to be with his family at Christmas and try to resolve any differences (and who else said that Christmas was about resolving differences..... Clark W Griswold in Christmas Vacation)! Hans and the other terrorists are just a coincidence. They picked Christmas Eve to pull off the heist because they knew that there would be less people to deal with. Alan Rickman as Hans Gruber steals the movie, his character is so entertaining and fun (even though he is a terrorist). The effects in this movie are top notch, the pacing and writing are great and the acting is great too. And the PlayStation sweater is totally fine as a Christmas sweater. Keep up the great reactions! Many blessings to you and yours!
This, precisely. This is why it's a Christmas movie. It's not just that it's set at Christmas, it's because Christmas is the driving force, the reason the movie happens at all. it doesn't need Santa or really anything else "Christmassy" It's because the movie wouldn't have made sense at any other time of year, really.
22:16 --- The actual building, is 34 floors with an additional two for mechanical / engineering spaces.. So a total height off the ground of 36 floors.. That far up in the air, it would be extremely unlikely to hear the gunfire.. Just like how Al couldn't hear the shots in the boardroom or Argyle couldn't hear them down in the parking garage.. Sound does travel, but there's only so far it can go.. --- The real building does have a center ventilation shaft as seen in the movie that goes from roof to basement.
Really enjoy your reactions. The part in the movie where Hans and John meet and they exchange names you were so close to figuring it out. The name Hans used from the directory was "WM Clay". "WM" is an acronym for William, which most people shorten to "Bill". I though this was a stroke of genius in the writing.
Hans was prepared. He said his name was “Bill Clay” and on the board John was looking at behind them there was a “Clay WM. William Clay. Bill is a common Nick name for William. That leads to the question, did all the robbers have accurate alternate names prepared in case they got caught? P.S. yes, it’s a Christmas movie.
It's never too late to discover iconic movies such as this one! It really did change the way action movies were made. I just really enjoy and appreciate watching this movie at any time of the year. Thanks for the upload, Miranda! It was really enjoyable and entertaining as ever!
Smoking in airports in the US was banned in the same year that this movie came out(1988)...so it was a last remnant to a bygone era. As much as the movie was based on Christmas...it was actually released in July. Fun having Christmas movies in the middle of summer.
If it was a Christmas movie, you wouldn't have to come up with tortured logic explaining why it's a Christmas movie. Also, it would be about Christmas.
Really fun reaction, and yes I enjoyed rewatching this with you. And I don't care what anyone else thinks, you should continue being yourself and talking during the movie. It's part of what makes your channel and you so special. 👍👍
19:45. yup this character's name was Toni (played by Andreas Wisniewski who haunted/hunted James Bond as villain/henchmen Necros in "Living Daylights" a year before this). That crunch bar grab in 30:26 was Al Leong's (actor and stuntman who shined in such gems as "Lethal Weapon", "Big Trouble in Little China" and "They Live!") improvisation which actually prolonged his character's life because the writer Steven de Souza said: “I was killing somebody every eight or 10 pages but that moment made him interesting. He's one of the last guys to die.”
Another great John McTiernan action-thriller is "The Hunt for Red October" with Sean Connery. Edit: And a fun tidbit is that Bonnie Bedelia, who plays Holly, is the aunt of Macaulay Culkin from "Home Alone".
Nice reaaction. Couple notes on the movie. When John is hanging by the gun in the elevator shaft, the stuntman who did that shot was supposed to grab that 1st handhold. He missed it and somehow managed to grab the next one. When Hans died at the end, Alan Rickman was scasred of heights and was really nervous. The drop was only about 12 or 15 feet. They told him they were going to let go on 3. Then told the stuntman to let go of Alan on 1. Big surprise to him, so that look of terror as he was falling was real! Oh and when he bumped into Hans and Hans gave a name. The index showed Clay, Wm. Wm is the abbreviation for William so Bill was correct. I would suggest that since you loved this you will love 2 & 3. Don't put it off. You got your like and sub. See you on the next one.
Happy New Year's. Love the reaction. They were nice enough to get Ellis a coke. That wasn't the coke he was wanting however. For the Bill Clay, the Wm is William, bill is short for it
I don't think the sort of person who insists on having Wm rather than just W on the directory would go by Bill, which may have been what tipped off McClane to not give him a loaded gun
Actually, my Alan Rickman movie would be Dogma. Easily. Im glad you loved it! I was thinking as it was ending that movies are rarely written as well as that was anymore. Oh, days gone by. Good vibes!
Brilliant move and the Die Hard trilogy is worth a watch 👍 For a brilliant Alan Rickman movie in which you would ever think he would do the part is Galaxy Quest. You will laugh so much 😁👍😁
I grow in the 80's with this movie, one of my very best favorites indeed. I enjoyed every minute of you reaction version. Cheeers from Uruguay, South America
I think they directly set the tone for how to relate to this movie by Argyle's music choice, "don't you have any Christmas music?" "This IS Christmas music!" - essentially, yes, this is a Christmas movie but not in the traditional sense, so just have fun. Also, if you haven't listened to that song in full, it's Run DMC, you are missing out! As for my favorite scene - every scene. Every scene is favorite scene. Yes. Haha, hope you had a happy holiday season, Miranda! Thanks for the upload, much needed today, such a joy to see your pure delight to this classic .😊✌🏻💖
What is often discussed about Die Hard is how it introduced a new action sub-genre, of one man against ridiculous odds in a specific location. After this there was "Die Hard on a plane", well a few of those, there was "Die Hard on a bus", "Die Hard on a boat"... Well none of them were Die Hard, but Passenger 57, Speed, Speed 2. Turns out Die Hard 2 did it pretty well. Also there were a few other "Die Hard on a plane" versions, the best being Executive Decision, highly recommend that.
Still incredible that this was Alan Rickman's first movie, incredible. Such a classic and so many 1 liners, incredible musical score. Holly is sassy, John is bullheaded but loveable, Al is the normal one and Argyle is just fun. John McTiernan was one helluva director. Also...Ellis is the Epitome of 80s guy.
Happy belated Holidays.🎉 Can you believe that this was Alan Rickman's first movie role? He was an accomplished theatre actor before, but still what an iconic performance for a first timer. Also fun fact: They told Alan Rickman they would drop him on 3 but they dropped him on 2 so his panic is real.😂
This iconic CHRISTMAS movie(yes it is) forever changed the way action movies are made because it proved that a regular dude could be a badass hero. This was also Alan Rickman's first movie, pretty good to begin a career(RIP).
I think it was also one of the first action movies that showed the hero actually getting progressively more bruised, bloodied, and battered as he fought his way through the film, instead of the usual convention of the hero walking away from everything with barely a scratch on him.
Unlike all other names, "William" does not formally take an initial, but instead has the abbreviation "Wm." As well, Bill, Billy, Will, Willie, Liam, and Yllia are all short names for William, along with spelling variants. In geneologies, sometimes "Willam" and "Willhelm" will also be listed with the "Wm" abbreviation, but rarely, and only take the W initial in modern formal writing and addresses.
"Quigley Down Under" Just put it on your list if you haven't seen it yet. You'll love it. You'll really love it. It's an "adventure" movie (1990) with lots of heart, smart funny moments, and an amazing finish; and it even features Alan Rickman as a deliciously dastardly landowner in the outback of Australia in the wild west era. Tom Selleck plays Quigley, and Laura San Giacomo as the mercurially wacky Crazy Cora. Lots of memorable scripting & banter, and gorgeous cinematography of rugged Aussieland, too. If you want something a little lighter in intent to perk up your day, check out Brendan Frasier starring in "Journey to the Center of the Earth" (2008). It's a fun adventure romp with playful characters and some touching moments, plus plenty of Brendan's classic "schtick" action-comedy.
I also recommend "Quigley Down Under" -- most people have never heard of it, but it's a really good film. And yeah, Alan Rickman is iconic in it as well.
Paul Gleason, deputy chief Dewayne T. Robinson, had one of the most iconic scenes in one of great movies of the 80s: dont mess with the bull, you'll get the horns. he was Mr. Vernon, the assistant principal, in the Breakfast Club. 😂😂😂
So... this movie was released as a summer blockbuster (July 1988), which is about as far removed from Christmas as is possible. Thus, for the first generation of people who experienced this movie, it falls in the mental slot of 'summer action blockbuster'. That, I think, is the central reason for there being any debate at all. If this had released as a holiday movie, it would be known as a Christmas classic by all, full stop.
it was also a big risk casting a TV comedian to be an action 'hero' on the big screen. A lot of people didn't think ''David Addison'' from Moonlighting could pull off being a tough guy.
BEST Die Hard reaction I have seen. I love that you did not dwell on the 1980’s tech and just got caught up in the fun. Alan Rickman does the best movie vallian and Bruce Willis is one of the best action stars because he is just so human and likable. He and Harrison Ford do that so well. You should do Die Hard 2.
100% Christmas movie. It's a story about coming home for the chirstmas and patching up your relationship, and making new friends along the way that's basically hallmark levels of wholesome. Just because some terrorists interrupt it doesn't detract from that.
Alan Rickman was already an established actor in the UK, but this movie was his "big break' into Hollywood. He had reservations about taking the part but, as we can see, he did such an amazing job with it. Not simply a 'Black Hat' Bad Guy, but a character who was certainly evil, but wasn't an idiot either and who had quite a few good lines of his own. Btw, that Teddy Bear in the limo? We get to see him again, in the closing scene of 'Hunt For Red October' (same director, also well worth watching).
Fun fact about this movie: the studio was contractually obligated to offer the role of John McClane to Frank Sinatra before they went with Bruce Willis. The reason for that is that Die Hard is based on a book called "Nothing Lasts Forever" which was a sequel to another book called "The Detective" which was ITSELF made into a movie starring Frank Sinatra. So this movie is technically a sequel to The Detective and Frank had the right of first refusal to star in this but he was 73 at the time so he decided to pass.
to add to that. They had like 27 other actors of the day picked over bruce willis. Burt Reynolds, Slverster stalllone, Fred dryer, etc. so Bruce was like the 27th pick.
You’re the only reviewer who expressed emotions about the bond between Powell and McClain! Most people laugh at McClain called Robinson an a-hole or butt*** on national TV. But,like Powell said, he’s alone inside without help from LAPD. But, Powell encouraging him to hang in, shows the bond these two are forming
I agree with you on Twinkies. This is not a Christmas movie, it just happens at Christmas time. This film made Alan Rickman a star in the U.S. I love this whole series. The 3rd is probably the best after this film. If you haven't seen Speed yet then you have to watch Speed. You will understand why when you see it.
Bruce Willis himself said that Die Hard is NOT a Christmas movie, but honestly it doesn’t matter. It’s a great film either way. (The 2nd film also takes place at Christmastime!) I highly recommend you watch the first 3 sequels as well. The first 4 Die Hard films are all worth watching. (The 5th and final film, not so much.) Btw, this was Alan Rickman’s first film! (RIP) He did a fantastic job as Hans Gruber.
It's not Christmas until Hans Gruber falls from the top of Nakatomi Plaza. You can even buy an advent calendar of the building, and every day closer to Christmas, you move Hans down a floor. This is one of my favourite movies, and agree 100% this is a Christmas movie. Please tell me you are going to watch Die Hard 2 and 3 as well! If you liked this, then please please please watch Hudson Hawk. It's a Bruce Willis comedic and action-packed masterpiece! Love your reactions; keep up the good work!
A page from my anti-terrorist training: when John McClain called Holly's first name, that was a command to duck because John was shooting the bad guys. That signal has been for 70 years and more. Depending on the circumstances, the signal of yelling someone's first name means 'FREEZE' or 'DUCK.'
I was a bit surprised when you mentioned you haven't seen any Bruce Willis that did it for you other than this one. I am going to suggest two movies The Fifth Element (sci-fi), and Hudson Hawk. The last one was not received very well but I believe it's a fun good movie. Also, if you ever get the chance, there was a TV series which brought Bruce to the people, Moonlighting. It's just beautiful. Thanks for the reaction.
I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED your reaction to this. At the very beginning I knew you could not have any idea of the ride that was in-store for you. I am so glad you perceived this film with the same awe and appreciation I did when it came out in theaters. This is what movies used to be like. Sure, there were some special effects with the explosions (and more, but that's another conversation), but the movie was not about the explosions, it was about the plan, the cunningness, the cleverness, the thought of so many details in THE STORY. This was typical back then, and its why movies were so popular and a regular part of everyone's lives to go to the theater to see them. Today's movies are about impressing us with special effects (or to promote some agenda), and the story seems to come in second....or third. GREAT reaction to this film. Absolutely enjoyed watching you loving this movie. Can't wait for the next one!
I was 24 when I saw this in 1988. The ending got me emotional then & it just got me again 😢It's my all time favourite action film but Jingle All The Way is my all time favourite Christmas film. DIE HARD IS NOT A CHRISTMAS FILM 🤣I can watch it anytime but I'll save Jingle All The Way for Christmas Day 🎄Love your reaction, appreciation & analysis. All spot on but for the "Christmas movie" bit😉 On a side note check out Bruce Willis in Moonlighting. An 80's comedy/drama series, you'll love Bruce & Cybill Shepheard in that one 👍🏽
I was in fifth grade when this movie came out, was in Lake Tahoe with family friends, it was summer time when it was released. We watched it like 4 times at the theatre, every time another family member made it up we had to,go,with them. Classic movie ahead of its time
Well here goes ... A few years after this movie came out I was at a video rental store in November or December and suggested we rent Die Hard quipping that after all - it was a "Christmas Movie". I amused myself with this so much that it became a running joke I'd loudly state in the video store every time we were renting before the holidays. I can't say definitively I started this but I'll claim it anyway! P.S. Happy belated birthday to Director John Campbell McTiernan Jr. (born January 8, 1951).
One other thing. When Hans fell at the end it was actually Alan falling. They were supposed to give him a 3 count before dropping him but let him go on one or two. That was a real reaction to falling.
We watch Die Hard every Christmas season and then again in the summer time. It's a favorite of ours. Die Hard 2; Die Harder takes place at Christmas time too. It takes place at Dulles International Airport (my local airport), but only exterior shots of the airport were used. Die Hard 3 does not take place at Christmas time, but in NYC; John's home turf. You should definitely check out #2 & #3.
A lil trivia for you: Rickman's look of shock just as he falls is genuine. In filming, he was not told that he was being released to fall. It just happened. 🤪 Made the scene all the better...
The "Bill Clay" was actually accurate. The board said the first name started with a W and Bill is often a short form for William.
To me that was even smarter than saying Walter or something else. Seemed more realistic…

@@rcrawford42 Ah thanks, never noticed- I only ever remembered the ‘W’ and thought he was being really clever about it.

The fact that John had his gun on while on an airplane didn't surprise her, but being able to smoke in doors in public did.
You could do that in the 80s
It’s ok. He’s a cop. Trust him he’s been doin it for 11 years

The joke is that Hans asked Elise if there was anything they could get him and he said Coke, but he meant the drug, not the drink.
technically, both are drugs, but yeah, I agree, very subtle and very funny, lol
2024 and that never occurred to me.
@@digitaldroo Me either. But then I've only seen it 20 times, so there's that.
E L L I S
Oh my god, I'll bet you're right! That's amazing!
One of the reasons McClane is such a great hero is he isn’t the typical hero. He’s not super chiseled, he shows fear, his plans don’t always work, he bleeds……a lot. He’s played more human than others
Extra points for knowing Hans and Franz
Kevin Nealon and Dana Carvey.
Hans Gruber the criminal mastermind and Franz Gruber the composer who wrote "Silent Night." Try and tell this isn't a Christmas movie.
One of favorite memes: It's not Christmas until Hans Gruber falls from Nakatomi Plaza
If you want to see the comic side of Alan Rickman, react to GalaxyQuest, a fun sci-fi comedy. Rickman is part of a great cast including Tim Allen and Sigourney Weaver.
He was funny in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves.
I prefer his work in Hitchhiker's Guide
@ghstdnsr He is one of the greatest Movie Villains ever!!
#TimRoth and #MichaelWincott ... are also phenomenal antagonist.
My first Alan Rickman movie is, Robin Hood Prince of Thieves (1991). Alan played his role ! , ill never forget him from both these fine movies
When this movie was released it set a whole new standard to making action-movies. It was mind-blowing to watch the first time back in the 80's. And Mirandas reaction in the right places are very satisfying, seems like she really got this movie. Die Hard 2 and 3 hold some surprises too...
She is a joy to watch her reactions 😊
One of the best action movies of all time. Mr. Rickman's American accent is incredible.
This is Alan Rickman's first movie as I recall. And he hit it out of the park.
And he was FORTY YEARS OLD when he did it. Pretty amazing......
"When Alexander saw the breadth of his domain, he wept, for there were no more worlds left to conquer... Benefits of a classical education.."
🎵"Deck the jerk with fist of Holly ..."🎵
Your comment, "Great, get the cop that's armed to the teeth with Twinkies" made me laugh! Keep up the good work!
If you can even find a hard copy of Dogma anymore.
@@M-S_4321 I got the Special Edition DVD. I'm not selling it.
I came here for this comment!!
"I couldn't rape you if I wanted to, angels are ill equipped" ...
@M-S_4321 I have mine!! Two sided DVD
@@ChurchNietzsche I have the 2 disc special edition.
His portrayal in Sense and Sensibility definitely made him my favorite character in that he was so good.
It should be noted this was Alan’s first American film
After watching your reactions, I think you would really REALLY like Moonlighting. It's the 80s TV show that Bruce Willis got his start on. Him and Cybil Sheperd did this same-time counter dialogue style that I know would tickle your love-of-theatre bone. Plus it's got romance.
And now, Moonlighting's "Atomic Shakespeare": th-cam.com/video/TBh2i_uK2S0/w-d-xo.html
Thank you so much! I absolutely LOVED this movie!!
OMG, you just made me feel so old (well I guess I am)...cassettes tapes, that and vinyl were all we had back when this came out
Your reactions are adorable. ❤ Yes, this is a Christmas movie.
Smoking in airports in the US was banned in the same year that this movie came out(1988)...so it was a last remnant to a bygone era. As much as the movie was based on Christmas...it was actually released in July. Fun having Christmas movies in the middle of summer.
There are two groups of people. Those who think Die Hard is a Christmas film and those who are wrong
It's not Christmas until Hans Gruber drops from Nakatomi Tower, just like it's not New Year's until the ball drops.
It's not Christmas without a "Yippie Kai Yay Mother F***er!"
This is the way.
You got that backwards
If it was a Christmas movie, you wouldn't have to come up with tortured logic explaining why it's a Christmas movie. Also, it would be about Christmas.
55:38 --- The movie is not only a story of miracles.. But it's also one heck of a redemption story.. Al, John, Holly, Argyle, etc...
Really fun reaction, and yes I enjoyed rewatching this with you. And I don't care what anyone else thinks, you should continue being yourself and talking during the movie. It's part of what makes your channel and you so special. 👍👍
That Hans & Franz SNL reference at 17:07 made me so happy lol
I LOVE the fact Carl Winslow is such an important part off this movie.
Reginald Van Johnson built his whole career as 'the one cop you can trust' off this role. He could have been Commissioner Gordon in some Batman movie.
@@BogeyTheBear that would be a perfect casting. Let’s say if Ray Stevenson (rip) played Batman, Reginald would be Gordon.
19:45. yup this character's name was Toni (played by Andreas Wisniewski who haunted/hunted James Bond as villain/henchmen Necros in "Living Daylights" a year before this).
Aw I love it when you said Awko taco! @ 9:50 lol
It's not Christmas until I see Hans Grüber falls from Nakatomi Plaza.
You will laugh so much 😁👍😁
Trilogy?
....there's 5 of them!
Die hard has like 6 movies, and they’re all great
I grow in the 80's with this movie, one of my very best favorites indeed.
I enjoyed every minute of you reaction version.
Cheeers from Uruguay, South America
Thank you so much for watching!! I'm glad you enjoyed it! This was a fantastic movie!!
Rickman was a GREAT antagonist in the movie... One of the all-time best: Smart, dedicated, and ruthless.
Happy belated Holidays.🎉
Can you believe that this was Alan Rickman's first movie role?
He was an accomplished theatre actor before, but still what an iconic performance for a first timer.
Also fun fact: They told Alan Rickman they would drop him on 3 but they dropped him on 2 so his panic is real.😂
It was his second movie role and he did serval TV roles befor too
My wife and I have a tradition of watching Die Hard while decorating the Christmas tree… with a couple of cocktails. 😉
@@ballyastrocade5672Bruce was pretty beat up by the end.
He had a respectable stage career at that point, but not many films.
@@Caseytify I know that, I meant this was the beginning of his iconic movie career.
I'm so glad to see that you are still doing movie reactions! I enjoy watching it "along" with you. Great to see you again!

One of the best Star Trek movies ever made.

@@ddichny oh the poor baby in Quigley, I always remember that.
Yes it is a Christmas movie!
Perfect reaction and so intelligent. The details are so well woven together in this story. Thank you.
Well yep, that was "fan fudging tastic" for sure!
Wonderful reaction. Thanks!
Die Hard was both Alan Rickman's first and star making movie roll. Everything we saw him do ever in his career was directly because of this movie.
(The 2nd film also takes place at Christmastime!)
I highly recommend you watch the first 3 sequels as well. The first 4 Die Hard films are all worth watching. (The 5th and final film, not so much.)
Btw, this was Alan Rickman’s first film! (RIP) He did a fantastic job as Hans Gruber.
The end of this movie has a lot of feel good moments.
I love this movie with all the banter between the hero and villain throughout the movie. Such a fun series, at least with the trilogy.
I've never commented on a reaction movie before, but "hans and franz, "we're here to pump, you up!"" was fried gold.
at the end of the movie when holly punches that reporter was infinitely priceless. i could watch that forever.
I was in fifth grade when this movie came out, was in Lake Tahoe with family friends, it was summer time when it was released. We watched it like 4 times at the theatre, every time another family member made it up we had to,go,with them. Classic movie ahead of its time
Good soft rug, the fists with your toes thing is a good stress reliever. Surprised at some of the older references you know given your age.
They show this masterpiece on Danish TV every Christmas.
You are on a roll. The Mel Brooks rabbit hole, now Die Hard. If you haven't done the Monty Python movies you should see those next.
Finally someone respecting Alan Rickman’s excellent work in Sense and Sensibility!👏🙌😀
