If you want to hear some of my original music you can go here. I need to get back to recording. I did this in my bedroom, all instrument and vocal i did myself in one or two takes. It's really just sketches of song. Todd

the part where they combine the main melody from "To Higher Climes where Few Might Stand" (and many other songs) with the lyrics and melodies from "In the Deep and Wooded Forests of my Youth" made me swear out of astonishment when I first heard this song

Glad you enjoyed! There's a lot to absorb here, especially on a first listen. A very versatile band. This is representative of their more epic, powerful side. Some songs on that double album are more acoustic. It's certainly worth a listen straight through to understand the full context of this final track both musically and lyrically. Melodies here are reprisals from earlier in the album, and in fact the lyrics are too. During the climax of this track, the vocalist recites the names of each track on the double album in order. Some of my favorite work in modern metal, criminally underrated.

Also one thing that blew me away is that the last 4 verses of this song are the names of the rest of their songs in their dual album Of Erthe And Axen 1 and 2

the last eight are, actually. the whole album can be reproduced non-stop and it's like listening to a simphony, a movement ends and the transition into the next.

What I absolutely adore about Xanthacroid is the brilliant writing and determination. To have the courage to embrace the more fantastical elements of Blessed He With Boils (previous album before these 2 acts) as well as an excellent execution on a more flourishing movement. It's both fortunate and unfortunate this is the song you were recommended, as it is the pinnacle of all their skills but also the last song of the two parts. It's an emotional crescendo to a genuine fantasy world they painfully sculpted to an excruciating detail. They created an entire alternate reality for this story, akin with the writings of Tolkien (but obviously not as in depth nor master crafted).
Honestly this album is my absolute favorite piece of music and still makes me feel so much, even after the hundreds of times I've listened. To anyone who liked this song I still recommend you listen to both acts from front to back. It certainly isn't for everyone but all the songs in fact are of the same likeness. If you didn't like this song then I wouldn't worry about it!

Yeah it was tricky recommending this since it's the culmination of the album. My feeling was that this is the band at their greatest, so it's the best shot at getting folks to check out the full album. And if they do so, they'll appreciate this song that much more in its full context.

@@RanchElder That's a pretty good reason! I just loved the payoff of the poem at the end and realizing that all the songs are a line from that poem, but it certainly is still a great standalone song

I've listened to these guys on loop for the past couple of weeks and this song is the most memorable by far, in particular 12:02 through to the end.

Good vocally and musically, but I'm more interested to see if they have something more upbeat vocally.
