".......making her fully functional." Whoever wrote this should take it to heart because she fully functional. Someone who is able to live by themselves and take care of themselves whether they are paralized, blind, deaf, or missing a limb, a paraplegic, they all are still fully functional. It just means that they have to do things a different way. When we see situations like this we try to put ourselves "in their shoes". And because we haven't had the the teaching that they have to learn how to function with the situation they think that the person is not able to function. That is one incredibly strong woman to be able to stay there and take the job to spite the way her coworkers treated her.

I’m deaf, I have an aunt that is constantly yelling can you hear me now then she yells even louder can you hear me now when I’m talking to my uncle on the phone, I just say I have to go uncle and he says I understand and I’m sorry, the sad thing is, their both in their 80’s. Since I was born this way, I just automatically adjusted to it. I’m so happy for Lauren, she finally found love again and she got her hearing back, a very beautiful story
When I had my own business I hired a young man who came in with 2 county workers. They explained that he was deaf but could read lips and had experience in my type of business. "Let him run this machine." I said and went to the front of the office. A few minutes later he had finished the job and I hired him. We got along very well and he stayed with us for a couple of years. I didn't want to lose him and he was happy with us but chose to go to work for a deaf school. He gave me a walnut encased Hallmark pen as a parting gift.
@@nemo227 I went into the funeral business, I mainly worked in the embalming room, the director working with the family he would of course write down what the family wanted and I’d do my job. There were time’s when I needed to meet with the family and I’d just turn up my hearing aids and talk with them.
@@theresareynolds3133 Hearing aids are a GREAT invention. The embalming room is nowhere near an easy job for many people. I remember a woman in our local Toastmasters club who talked about her time as an embalmer. It turns out that she wasn't right for that type of work. Some people can do it and some can't. I'm reminded of the time I was considering a job in hearing aid sales. While reading about the subject I learned that some people try hearing aids for a while and then abandon them because they find the world to be too noisy. That surprised me.
@@nemo227 I’ve been retired for a while but I still miss it, I’m not morbid or sick minded, I just liked it when people would say he or she looks so lifelike and I worked for some pretty awesome people.
What a heart warming and very satisfying video! I say satisfying because those who had looked down on her absolutely did not have the last laugh! She did! To put it in perspective, when someone tries to intimidate you or me, do we react negatively to that individual? Or do we simply not acknowledge that they even spoke or acted that way? This is what she did. And because she did not allow the attitude and actions of others to bring her down, in the end she quite literally went up!
Nice story and I bet the animal shelter gave her pets a more adequate home with plenty of food, water and loving care. A woman like that who owns a animal shelter would make it a loving caring haven for all animals. They would never go hungry, freeze or be lonely again under her ownership. As for her getting her hearing back. It was not due to any injury and the human brain can often do things to our bodies out of precieved guilt that we harbor if strong enough can cause such issues and never return at all. When she finally realised she was worth loving and was worth having a stable loving home it came back, luckily. Some people with such never get it back. She got blessed for her hard work and loving heart.
One of the most beautiful and heart warming motivation story I read this year. Love it so much and the English language was up to a point that left me wanting more of it so badly.
I am profoundly deaf myself, so I related to this story very deeply. I thought I was badly treated when I got my hearing aids age 8, but my life was not half so hard as Lauren's. I am so very glad that things turned around for her. I too find solace with animals. I can't believe that people can be so horrible about your background. Good for Nolan. It's funny how often people think if you are deaf, you are stupid! I'm just sorry the animals had to be in a shelter not her home in the end.
Deaf people to me are one of the most intelligent people out there. They might not have a hearing ability, but they have a huge heart and are very patient and hardworking. My brother’s hearing is impaired and I love him so much!
@@lifenarrated6836 it is difficult for me to understand how anyone could treat a deaf person poorly. My Aunt was deaf and read lips so well it was nearly impossible to determine she did not hear. I had coworkers in the hospital I worked in that were deaf and helped teach me sign language. Deaf people are compensated in other ways that make them very special. The manager in this story was a bully to all, not just the deaf lady. I hope that bastard died with bone cancer, he was a monster. Bosses can be strong but this guy was evil.
@@lifenarrated6836 , I'm glad you do. And yes, I think you judge most of us right. Of course, some of us will be bad. Can't help that. There's good and bad in all "tribes". We are intelligent I think because we are forced to use and develop telepathic skills in order to help us to communicate. Alongside lip-reading, face reading, and body reading. That's one of the reasons we bond well with animals too: they communicate between species telepathically, and we kind of pick up that vibe. Heart rules wisdom; the head: knowledge.
I'm not deaf, but I am without my hearing aids. My hearing has been bad since my younger years. Working on the flightline and driving heavy equipment (while receiving instructions caused my hearing to diminish. Beautiful story and outcome
Did anyone in the office have a problem with Nate’s use of the words “tramp” and “bum” to describe this poor girl? Nah. This story is complete bullshit.

Awesome narration skill. Life is full of hardship and injustice, but the way our main character handled it with composure and patience is commendable. Bringing this story to us is much appreciated. Thank you!
Good story, but the part of giving up the pets that she lived for seemed not right. She loved her pets and they loved her. If he was so rich, he should have made it possible for them to live with them in their home. Your pets are part of your family. It's not right to send them to a shelter to be removed. Wrong for that.
I suspect that the animal shelter was on the grounds of/or adjacent to the grounds of their new home. I don't believe that he would have separated her from something she loved and cared for so very much.
Regardless if fully true or fictional it's awesome and does remind people that life has a funny way of working out as well as how we are where we're needed to be in life for others. And let me say this...there is no true disability but self doubt. Everything else is just motivation to push oneself
She asked for nothing and cared for her pets, they ate first and she did not complain that her life sucked like most kids do now days. I think GOD noticed her and without her asking gave back the thing she lost as only he could. GOD has saved my life more than I deserved and I ask him for nothing but thank him every day for what he has done for me. I say pray to GOD but ask for nothing except your health your friends well being and your family he will one day help you if he needs to, you don't get everything you ask for and people stop hating him when a love one dies he has a reason and like it or not we all will die one day maybe to soon or later.
The only reason I am alive today is because of His intervention. Even though my eventual demise might seem unfair to those who don't understand, its exactly the way I hoped it would unfold. Praise God! @@donghavet1
As a parent of a born deaf person now with a choecler implant, when she wanted to enter the work force she knew it would be tough. Turned down at every turn, finally a lady at the hospital gave her an interview, she told her she'd be in touch. Before we got home she received a text message from the lady in HR. She said that she felt in her heart that she had to give her a chance. That was 11 years ago, our daughter still works there, training others, and other duties no one else is allowed to do. With faith in God and herself along with a helping hand from basically a stranger anything is possible. So proud of her.
Hi!) She was a perfect example for others to emulate, free of false pride, filled with humility, confidence, tenacity, non-judgmentalsm and compassion regardless of her loss or struggles in life.
She was the owner of this shelter (not a shelter as we would think of it) and I’m sure they were treated well and she visited them often. (Of course, my assumption follows the sweet, loving, and caring nature of the woman, Lauren. I would go so far as to venture that when the child(ren) was/were born that Lauren made sure they knew and loved the animals, too.)
The ending felt incomplete to me. Only briefly did her new husband mention knowing the family of her former fiancee. I had wanted them to come into the picture again somehow either disgusted that the person they blamed for their son's death was now an upper middle class white collar worker and maybe wanting to take her down a notch or maybe they end up feeling badly for how they treated her and wanting to make amends.
I was hoping that at least she'd keep her pets, as well as amends made, at least we'd know the animals were warm, cared for & she could teach her child through them.. But the fact about amends, she'll likely have met & they'd eventually understand. Guess this is why these stories are short, it's not a complete movie. The great thing was how the young woman endured a hard life from birth, learned the hard way while in school, then became a great student. While she did lose her first boyfriend, she didn't die & didn't allow herself to wallow in self-pity. Rather she done the best she could with what she had, and loved her then family, her pets.❤ She chose to have better food for them than herself. Wish I had found one just like her.💞
Sure was, although I believed her main down moment when young was when boyfriend, the only one who loved her then, died. This would cause anyone to hit rock bottom, miraculously she did the best she could until an opportunity came along. The name that boss called her out the window, was gutless & as lowlife as could be. Happy to see she ended up with not only his job, also the rest of her life healed. Good things happens for good people.❤
I was happy when the owner finally came around!!! I wondered where he was & Y he had not showed up sooner??? Anyhoo, I knew that Lauren had more going on than what was being seen but hearing her story truly made listening to it 👏!!! Great ending to this story!!!😇🙏🥰
Very wonderful story, people should be nice and not pick on others, truthly this is what happens to rude people, they end up losing everything and the very one/victim ends up with everything.
That's a good observation Bosco Pereira. Lauren deprived herself in order to feed her pets. She took only bread and water while she gave the pets the real stuff within the limits of her resources.
The story blew me away ❤❤❤ I am learning that life is not always as plain as what it seems and love is the only way to meant even the those who seem not to be a worthy revival or course.. Usually I help these people when God places it in my heart.. But I am not always sure if it is with it. Many of them I don't see or they disappear.. I am now learning that many of them are hunted or enslaved and it is very hurtful to me to know this and to know I am unable to help. But every time someone is saved or loosened from such a disposition it is worth more than millions Thank you so much for posting it ❤❤❤❤
Lauren did things that from being poor that people just dream of, I feel like Lauren sometimes because my disability which is a mental problem I'm highly intelligent and I get a lot of no's in my life because of what I did. If anyone takes anything out of this story, just give someone a chance they just may surprise you.
Thank you for your kind words sir! Your disability is something you'd been given as a gift. Not everyone will understand what I mean by that, but I have a feeling you know that.
Life for me started out tough, but I had my Mother's love. For a long time I knew that I had it better than some. Even so, after decades of up and downs, I got to the point where I didn't remember that fact. After loosing sight of this fact, I started looking at the randomness of the-universe, and figure out that little things like this story need to snap me back for being grateful for what I do have, instead of focusing on things that I don't have and want. Thank you, author!
Sounds like someone I would like to get to know. That is absolutely amazing how it took a jerk who thought he could make a joke out of her and instead help her get into a position of being successful and having a great life.
This story teaches me that no matter where in life you are whether you are up on the ladder or low every one deserves to be treated with love no one is to be regarded as a nobody
Good story. I would change one thing- she was fully functional and whole when she was deaf. The comment that now she got her hearing back and is fully functional indicates that even the story writer thinks deafness is a fault .
What a beautiful story… the tyrant was finally fired! Lauren’s life was full of hardship in spite of this she did everything she could to go on with her life. She had a beautiful and loving spirit. There are many who suffered as children just as Lauren did. Many children have selfish or alcoholic parent’s who didn’t even care for their children’s basic needs. Many children like Lauren grow up bitter and become just like their parents repeating the same cycle. Other’s like Lauren are determined to make better lives for themselves, do not let their hardship’s shape their life and they refuse to become bitter. Lauren and others like her, channel everything they’ve been through in life, learn from it and per perverse. This story was a beautiful story true or not we can definitely learn from it and grow.

Excellent example of how one rotten person can ruin things for many. The mother and the manager to be specific. I have experienced horrible managers that ruin businesses that operated perfectly autonomously by injecting horrible ideas that created obstacles and a hostile work environment. The CEO acted too late and should have recognized there was a problem when the people he hired started to leave or were fired. Good story!
Yes I have experienced terrible bosses too. One hired me because I had such a good standing in the transportation business but said he was still going to find a MAN for the position. He couldn’t fire me because my office was doing better than any others.
@@rae1957tn Sorry to hear you had to experience such madness. One would think we have gotten past color, gender or any other adjectives. I am thrilled you persevered.
My boss started putting all obstacles in front of me after realising that I was more qualified..! Within a year I had a nervous breakdown. I was well looked after by the head manager who understood my abilities and moved me to a different department where I could be happy and strive for two promotions in the next ten years. This happened in an Industrial Therapy Department For Mentally Handicapped People.
My experiences have been slightly different coz I am a pharmacist. Well if you know the retail chains can have 1 pharmacist on duty with any number of techs, so the techs are sort of given more legroom so to speak. They can fill in for each other, go for smoke breaks in the middle of a rush, then when the shift is about to finish, they throw all the lagging work on the pharmacist to verify at the end of the shift. So what does the pharmacist do, work after closing to wrap up all the work after sending everyone else home. Because management doesn't like overtime. The pharmacist gets rated on the skill of his/her staff, whoever you're stuck with, you are stuck with. Like it or not. Now they want skilled techs. who have passed an examination for which they have a grace period, so now more than ever it is a revolving door of unskilled workers, who would rather not get trained.
This story made me cry. Cause I became deaf 17 years ago. I tried to take my life, cause I could not handle the silence around me. I lost my job and found myself getting isolated from people around me. It was hard, cause no one wanted to talk to me or even try to talk with me in sign language. I began to retreat into my silent world. I'm still in my silent world and spend time reading and reading and chatting with people on the net. My deafness is a DNA problem. My grandma was deaf, my dad was deaf. Then I found out, that I have 2 aunts that are deaf too. All from my father's side. Someone gave me a hearing aid some 7 years ago, but it's not working to well now, as hearing aids do have a life span. So, I do not wear it anymore. The silence is my companion now. I hate apologizing to people, when I go to the market and keep saying, sorry, I'm deaf. If I buy some food stuffs, I just say what I want, pay my bit and go back to my room. I have one dog and he is my best friend. With him, I get to know, whose outside and I know when he barks. Not sure why I'm still alive, but one day I will get to know. For now, I hear with my heart and my eyes.
Lovely writer, don't give up, you are beautiful in your thoughts. I'm sure there are people around you who will give you a smile if you give them one first. Take care. God loves us all in his way. Wish I was nearer to you. You'd be my friend. xxx
I our family it too is a genetic issue, my mom began loosing her hearing at age 20, it was the stirrup in the ear which became brittle. She had surgery on one ear the 20 yrs later the other ear. She had good hearing for the most part, but in later years got hearing aids. Both my brothers have also had to have this surgery, my youngest brother has still to accept it and get his hearing fixed! My cousin had to have occular surgery plus hearing aids. Many on my mothers side has had this genetic defect, we are aware it exists in our family. On my dads side, my first cousin (one of 34) was born deaf, we all as a family learned to communicate. Her entire family moved to Fairbault MN so she could go to school at the Deaf school. This was back in early 60’s. Today we are all so thrilled with invention of texting and Facebook, as we all can communicate effortlessly!
I thought you meant the staff that put out this story without having an American proof read it. They weren't bullies in the story. They were stereotypes.
Its a good story. Never look down on a persons financial status. Characters are more substantial to life. Humble, kind, patience, caring are some inner qualities that Lauren have. Love comes in all different aspects. Doesnt see color, financial status, race or culture. Love is love pure, kind, understanding. People should learn fron this. Never mistreat anyone. Because you dont know a persons story. Always be kind to everyone...
Nolan waited to long to come to the branch, Manager thoughts backfired, best thing he did was hiring a poor deaf girl who was a very wise women who changed everyone. Words get around and I bet many who were gone came back.
Good story but ending was incomplete- Nolan stated that he knew Connor’s family and it dropped like a thud - could’ve explored and maybe after all this time Connors’s family finally forgave Lauren ??? maybe?? or could’ve opened dialogue?? IDK but it felt unresolved

She now owns an animal shelter, so now she's rehomed her 'beloved' pets into an impersonal shelter? I hope her fur babies weren't abandoned to uncaring employees & her human child isn't turned over to a nanny as soon as her work consumes her time once he/she is delivered. Once you accept an animal into your family you don't just throw it away once it's inconvenient for you to have around. I was all set to admire her until I came to that part, now not so much.
Yes, many are commenting that she shouldn't given away the animals. I agree with you too. I just didn't think about it that way. The shelter would be a place for all other stray animals.

After working as a OpenVMS Consultant contractor for over 17 years making 45 to 65 an hour and then having to find work in another field when I was unable to find work in my choose field of study; I was blessed to work as a custodial for the last 10 years of my career before retiring as a now custodian and had never seen so much disrespect, hate and bad treatment by upper management towards the custodial staff. The best advice I could give is to do the best job that you can do as a custodian and hopefully your situation will be better then mine and try not to take their treatment of you too personal even though it is personal so that their actions do not break your spirit.

Great story, I wouldn't have handled it any differently except to make sure the ones that were fired were hired back.

Thank you so much for narrating this story so nicely and emotionally - it enriched my present mood so much!
Wow, thank you!
Thank for one of the most uplifting and inspiring story 😢
It is not a true story.
I'm not deaf, but I am without my hearing aids. My hearing has been bad since my younger years. Working on the flightline and driving heavy equipment (while receiving instructions caused my hearing to diminish. Beautiful story and outcome

Awesome narration skill. Life is full of hardship and injustice, but the way our main character handled it with composure and patience is commendable. Bringing this story to us is much appreciated. Thank you!
Good story, but the part of giving up the pets that she lived for
seemed not right.

Good story, really liked listening to it! Just what I needed to hear this morning.
If I work for that company I would slap every one laugh at Lauren then I would quit
Hi!) She was a perfect example for others to emulate, free of false pride, filled with humility, confidence, tenacity, non-judgmentalsm and compassion regardless of her loss or struggles in life.
It's out of character that the pets were relegated to an animal shelter as opposed to joining her in her new home.
Not specified just how many animals she was taking care of at the end of the story. Could have been 25-50,
"In his hands was a certificate making her the owner of an animal shelter where all her pets were residing"...20:36 mark of the video.
Accepting the shelter was within the grounds her new home.
True. This is something negative.
Great story n beautiful happy ending
The ending felt incomplete to me. Only briefly did her new husband mention knowing the family of her former fiancee. I had wanted them to come into the picture again somehow either disgusted that the person they blamed for their son's death was now an upper middle class white collar worker and maybe wanting to take her down a notch or maybe they end up feeling badly for how they treated her and wanting to make amends.
Oh, I really haven't thought about that, thank you for pointing that out. I'm learning a lot from comments like yours.
I would have told them to take a long walk of a short pier in others words go jump
Third rate at best...
Wish I had found one just like her.💞
Eve when person is deaf god always helps through someone we should be grateful and helpful
It was a great to see that she finally found happiness in her life.
Good things happens for good people.❤
Awesome story 💯%

Thank you for an uplifting and positive message
You're welcome!
Good story. Luke 6:38. She showed good seeds, she reaped great benefits. Hats off to her, for knowing the tools.
But every time someone is saved or loosened from such a disposition it is worth more than millions
Thank you so much for posting it ❤❤❤❤

I loved the story. It touched my heart.
Well I watched the the rest of the video Nolan your a good man Charlie Brown

Oh my gosh 🥹 I’m sorry.

Wonderful Story ended with a sign of Bright Light. ❤
Shelters are often over crowded and unless a stated NO KILL shelter they kill pets when it becomes too crowded.
That’s exactly how I felt. To go from being cared for in their pack to being stuck in cages bc of her change in circumstances? Shameful 😢
Too many assumptions are being made here.
