Great Video. I bought a similar 6 person tent with Blockout fly and set it up all by my self. I would like to share a tip for putting up the fly. Just open up the legs except the last part so that the tent takes it's shape. Then put the cover over it and once it is in place, you can extent the last part of the four legs. In this way you will not struggle putting up the fly as the tent is quite tall.
This style of tent is great. So quick and easy to put up. Hubby doesn't like to camp, so we got a van for him lol, but I love camping in my tent or swag. Our daughter bought me an instant up tent 7 years ago that I put up myself and it's still going strong and I love it. I now have an instant up Gazebo from Big W that is the same setup as your tent frame and that goes well with my little 4 man tent. Enjoy your tent and enjoy your camping.
Great to have this video to view. We just bought our tent, and were hopeful it would be as easy as advertised. Your video gives me hope that we will be able to put ours up too, without too many difficulties. Thank you for making the video.
That's good. It's actually a lot of work to make a video like this. We've watched many videos on different tents. We decided on this one. It's not bad. The other instant tents were either too small or too big. This is just right but, as you may have found out already, is just a bit trickier to put up, especially the first time. Anyway, getting back to what I first said. We really thought we had better make a contribution to TH-cam for campers in particular so that's why we put in the effort.
Perfect video David! Thanks for sharing - gave me a lot of confidence in my purchase (also from Tentworld!) Hopefully my girlfriend will be impressed with how quickly I can get the tent up now after watching this :)
Yep. It's good to make a good impression. We have camped with this since making the video. We actually found it quite easy to put up this time (having had a practice run). You've just got to be a bit careful folding and unfolding the roof sections on these as well as the attached material. We were somewhat perturbed to see other videos that fast forward through the tedious and time consuming bits. That's why this video is a bit long.
Did it go back into the bag easily?? Thanks for the video, it's good to see what it's REALLY like erecting and packing these down, instead of the fancy advertisement showing it going up in seconds, skipping the whole wrangling the fly over the top, and just omitting the pack down, stating "just reverse the steps!"
It’s relatively easy. We’ve definitely had harder tents to repack. We do make an effort though to roll it to match the length of the bag and squash air out etc.
Thanks for this, I just bought an oztrail 6p Lumos for myself only, lol, and I couldn't find any videos of how to put it up. I'm assuming that considering it's a similar shape, and I think the dimensions are the same, it will go up the same way.
Well, as stated previously, we saw so many videos on tents which helped us a lot. I'm not that good at making TH-cam clips but thought we owe the people out there something. At the time there was nothing on TH-cam about this tent so we decided to do something at least. We've seen the tent that you've got which has a rear door and bigger front section. We think that that would be a better tent as the foyer area of this one is a bit too small to be useful. I would say that putting up the inner tent would be similar. The outer tent might be a bit more awkward to put up as it's larger. However, the poles for the foyer are on the outside which might make it easier. Good luck anyway. Camping is excellent fun.
@@jamieknight9636 I used it for the first time after 6 months in storage. Small holes riddled throughout the fly.... It's in the bin now. Useless. Couldn't even get a refund. I'll never trust oztrail tents again
@@duncandixon6203 @jamieknight9636 oh that's a shame! i bought mine recently and just camped 2 nights at straddie with 50knots wind gust, obviously we didn't get those straight up but it was very windy at times and the tent held up fine! bone dry in during some heavy showers too.
Hi. We have been very lucky, We have camped many times but it has only ever rained lightly including once with this tent. We were surprised that, even though the roof area is only 1 layer of material and 1 layer of mesh, no rain came in. So, yes, it is okay for very light rain.
Ah yes. I agree. It is too long. I wanted to emphasize that these tents are not really that instant and the term "fast frame" is more of an expression than anything else!
Super dodgy. 2020 has been a tough year on all of us, so the decision to spend decent money on a family tent was not one I took lightly. I highly regret this decision, because this OzTrail fast frame is an absolute lemon. One of the poles broke in the mildest of coastal winds (15km winds, 25km gusts - definitely the sort of pressure even the cheapest of tents should withstand). Sent them photos and an explanation, got nothing. Rude and dismissive, just told me to find a local tent repairer or do the work myself. They blamed the tent's failure on me, some nonsense about "external forces and trauma", accusing me of deliberately damaging the tent myself. My family has bought heaps off OzTrail in the past, can't believe they'd treat us like this in return. If you're considering dropping decent money on a big item, avoid these guys. They'll happily sell you dodgy products and take your money.

Thanks for the video! The details you showed help me troubleshoot one of the doors, much appreciate it!
WELL DONE David. Just did a trial in the backyard and couldn't work out where the extra stainless steel rod went until I viewed your video - Thanks

Hi David, you should make more vids. You make interesting content and describe things in an easy to understand manner.

How have this tent behaved in rain?
