Imagine having your own home filled with family, friends, comfortable surroundings, stability. To ending up in a cold and bleak looking apartment, alone with no access to family or the comfortable lifestyle you built. Add to that you have dementia and go through periods of confusion and forgetfulness. What a change. How terribly sad.

Me too!! I loved the radio show because of all the funny sound effects! LOL! I missed the sound effects once she was on TV.... and even her "How You Doin'" wasn't the same since TV people didn't really understand the origins of it and what it meant on the radio lmaoo. It just became a signature greeting.

What happens to these celebrities who “snap” and then have permanently altered personalities like they’ve been lobotomized? Wendy Williams, Britney Spears, Amanda Bynes, Lindsay Lohan come to mind
It's not a coincidence at all if you think about mental health and basic human needs.
Many of these celebrities get caught up in fame, lose touch with their families (or get used by them due to money), get into abusive/toxic relationships while trying to maintain a sense of normalcy.
Unfortunately it's hard to have a "normal" life while being a celeb and they get caught up in addictions. We are meant to live balanced lives, and unfortunately many celebrities don't. Fame is truly a helluva drug.
