You mentioned something about your wife saying you should be yourself and people like you because you are the way you are.
Just to add to that, when I found your channel I was just producing for half a year.
Because I was such a noob, your videos were not that useful to me because I understood 100% nothing of what you were saying.
But I still kept watching them, because I thought you are super fun and you really entertained me. (Which no tutorial ever did)
Also, you had this "I don't give a shit" attitude and yet pulled out some insane-sounding kicks like it's the easiest thing in the world.
So keep up the saltiness xD

10:55 the best thing about this is, that there are still people that complain about new hardstyle kicks being "non-euphoric" and how everyone should still use the fucking 12 years old nc kick. And they even complain that today's new kicks aren't unique and diverse compared to the old ones. And even people trying to find ""objective"" reasons why the old kicks are better (like "more dynamic= better and shit like that). And its not like there is just few oldschool guys complaining about this, its like shit ton of toxic comments under every fucking new track, being like "yeah these new shitty kicks just ruined the song. it all sounds the same, back in my day kicks were actually hard" and i just get sick everytime i read it.
I accept taste and preference, but some people just cannot accept that music is evolving and not everybody still wants to use the same 12 years old kick anymore.
    Also great video, as always!

hardstyle suffers a lot from that. There is way to much uniformity which is why there are only 5 different hard dance genres. Compare that to house were there are dozens of subgenres

Every hardstyle community I've entered online seems to have these kind of rigid opinions, drives me nuts

After coming from the UK hardcore scene and having a break for a while. The European hardcore/raw style kicks are a breath of fresh air. Back in the 2000’s I never ever thought about kicks. They did the same thing every track. Now they’re pitched/tok/piep and actually a creative element. Can’t get enough. Let’s get crazier with kicks.

@@0815Snickersboy The reason house has 20 differnet subgenres is because they label every different sound their own fucking genre. It's stupid. Oh, you used a piano, now it's piano house. Oh, you use a kalimba, now it's tropical house. No, hard dance genres are way more varied than house is, which is really just House and Electro and a bunch of titles people use to make their music sound more special.

@@Arcessitor Thats pretty much true that new sounds results in a different genre name fairly often. But thats pretty much what I am missing in hard dance genres. They don't really often introduce sounds that are not a distorted kick or a supersaw or a screech etc. and if they do it's only for the break.
      We need tropical hardstyle NOW!!

Nice to hear someone talking about the varity in kick design these days. People (including me) got so caught up in making kicks that sound the same as everyone else, and it probably held innovation back for years. The music is much more interesting now because of this change imo.

So true about the right sound choice. It's still the issue for many and me, too, for sure. With all creative processes, we bit forgot about step that is after. Is mixdown. That's why every mix is different

This is something that has probably been explained before, and it's a variation of what the General seems to be saying about finding the right snare rather than trying to use EQ to make the wrong snare fit, but I thought I'd repeat it in case someone finds it useful...
If you're designing a sound, or just tweaking a preset, then try to ensure that your basic oscillator shape and filter settings are in the right setting for the sound you're trying to make, rather than using EQ to change the character of the sound. i.e. if you think your lead is too buzzy then it might be that you're better off trying to use something other than a saw wave; if you think the sound is too bright then maybe adjust the filter cut-off/envelopes.
Sorry to everyone that has just read the following only to get slightly mad that I said something pretty obvious, but maybe this is news to someone without much experience in sound design.

i got hook to hard dance because of those euphoric and reverse kick and honestly the raw kick dosent make me want to dance as much and its really important when i produce to have something that fit my vibe which euphoric kick fit better. Its nice that raw punch follow the melody but i personaly prefer to have the tail following a supporting bass line otherwise i use a fat 909 for shorter kick. I understand the advantages of raw tails but im addicted to that spring sound that hitted my imaginary so much that it pushed me to start producing and fall in the rabbit hole of euphoric kick by choice.

Thanks for covering my question, I've managed to make some progress on my kick design now. Still not where I want them but big improvement imo.
Another question, this one is really noob, how do I mix a kick I really like which is filling up mix with a really full lead which is imo the sound I am trying to achieve with the lead? A bit of side chain for the tok but where the kick is so full I think my mix is muddy when it plays with the lead and sound thin when I high pass my lead. Recommendations please outside of choosing other sounds. 😁

Great Video as always! So thats my first comment at your chanel 😊✌🏼
I started producing again this year (now more professional than back in 2017/2018).
I think my biggest problem in the moment is to get some great gated kicks produced by myself. Do you have tips for Plug-ins or techniques to make a Gated Kick that kinda sounds like those from Rooler?
Thanks for your Great Videos and greetings / stay safe!
