Bears spent all their money on swords and forgot to buy the shield.
I am not bald but I have a spare box of clean glue for your hair system needs
When your O LINE sucks ass the only move you got is a screen. Get the ball out quick.
Absolutely. It frustrated me they kept shopping for WRs, RBs, but not O lineman.
They drafted a punter in the 4th round. They deserve it
Analytics actually showed Justin had way more time to throw it was never as bad as Coleman Shelton is at center right now. Still unacceptable not improving Oline this offseason but they didn’t expect this much worse
You’d think a former offensive lineman who is now GM would build his team around those positions….
Honestly there were so many needs when Ryan took over he wasn’t going to able to fix everything, he’s only been the gm for like 3yrs now and he had a lot bad contracts from the old regime
hes drafted and signed linemen every year
@@N0t_p0p18
Yea, hows that going?
The gm and assistant gm were both offensive linemen lol it’s crazy
It's not OL gayleb is too dumb to get the ball out
This goes beyond Waldron. We saw the same thing under Getsy. We saw the same thing going back to Jay Cutler & Mike Martz. The Bears as an organization are not willing to invest in an O-line. There have been a number of different combinations under 5 different coaching regimes and the O-line only gets lip service. Patchwork fixes and guys that are considered good enough is what the Bears consider solutions. Remember when they offered Kreutz a job at $15/hr? That's how much they're willing to invest, minimum wage.
Because Getsy sucks like Waldron sucks. O lines are rarely sufficient enough to meet team standards, which is why quarterback play (quick release, spatial awareness, etc) and play calling matter so much. In terms of the latter, Waldron is a horrific play caller. Ask anyone in Seattle
I didn’t expect us to beat the Texans, these next 3-5 games are winnable
i didn't expect our rookie QB to look like Kenny Pickett either. Your right though i didn't have us beating Texas either.
@@gatorbite9816 you can just say you don't know anything about football. The real issue is the O-line, and personnel. You don't run empty set when you have pressure on stunts all game. You don't run 13 personnel when you have odunze and Moore (and Allen in week 1). Everett is terrible and should never be in on blocking or getting designated plays like the screens. Swift should be RB 3 behind Herbert and Johnson. Swift has only run behind good lines. That's not us. We need our north south backs in the game to establish some ground presence. Having wide receivers blocking edge rushers is also terrible. Caleb is going to learn on the job and is improving every game. Is he to blame? Partially. The bonehead pick was bad. The fumble is not on him. The second pick was a catchable ball and just a great defensive play. He is not the problem.
@nuisancejones4908 your so smart you should be coaching the bears just like every other backseat GM on here.
I wanted the Bears to either take a top Olineman with the 9th pick or even better trade down and take an Olineman with the lower 1st round pick and another with the 3rd or 4th rounder they might have added via the trade down. Odunze is a good future prospect, but Williams has to be able to stay alive his rookie season. Odunze was a luxury. A good Oline is a necessity.
Odunze is absolutely a necessity next year when we likely dont have keenan allen and there was one first round worthy interior o lineman in the whole draft.
And get rid of Waldron
@@tyghgriffin5571no he wasn’t!! This was a DEEP WR draft!! We should have moved UP 3 spots and grabbed Joe Alt and then grabbed the next two WRs and skipped the punter . I love Rome but that was a luxury ! Keon Coleman at 33, McConkey at 34, Burton at 80, McMillan at 92!!! Jordan Whittington at like 220?!
I am starting questioning Pole’s decisions.
I said this on espn radio and the host hung up on me lol It doesnt matter who they get at quarterback. If the offensive line is trash, the quarterback will be too. Its like having a Bentley without a transmission...nice to look at, but wont be getting you anywhere. They were not ready to have a Caleb Williams yet. They should have traded the first pick for even more picks than they got for the bryce young pick. They could have still gotten Odunze, a top tier OL from the same draft, going into 2025 with 2 first rounders and possibly 6 of the top 50 picks. Could have selected a QB next year and completely rehauled the O line in one season with all STUDS. And still have plenty of draft capital to stock up and replenish.
We need Mark as our o-line coach!!!! Please!!!!!
You guys know the crazy thing about the Bears OL they say Titans have two good tackles right go alone with me on this and the Taxes have two DE right but wait don’t the Bears OL go against a top ten defense in practice every day so why is the OL so bad can anyone explain that to me like I’m in 3rd grade please
Mental mistakes, continuity, coaching, any swathe of variables that affects the way they perform. But you’re absolutely right. Its not an incredible group by ANY means, but we have the talent to be at least a BIT better than the worst I’ve seen around the league.
Offensive line coach needs to be fired plus rookie QB, CW needs to get everyone in place with no false starts or illegal formations
Easy… the Bears DL is not as good as the Titans DL and Texans DL. Furthermore, Bears DL is going against the OL in practice. Practice is not the same intensity as games.
They don't practice like a regular game and the QB wears a red vest meaning nobody comes near me. The Chicago Bears are a joke. They should of fired everyone and started completely over instead of keeping a questionable GM and a lousy head coach. He should only be a defensive coach not a HC....
It's because the DT's they are playing against are weak too. it's a tough reality but that's the actual truth. Gervon dexter is just OK but way too slow, montez/billings are good, but everyone else is below average. darrell taylor had a good game cause he played against a rookie tackle; that's just an experience thing.
the problem is, the media. they made you fall for the hype. but that's kind of their job. they are losing fans, and they needed a way to get them back. that's why you got hard knocks + caleb williams. these are money moves.
If you rush 4 and get pressure its on the oline cuz they cant block 1 on 1.
If you rush 5 and get pressure its on the QB cuz he can identify man to man and beat it
if you rush 6 and get pressure its on the OC cuz he hasnt given his QB a way to take advantage of a zero blitz.
This feels fair
Justin Fields endured 3 long years of hell in Chicago . I wish him well. Our Offensive line was supposed to be improved. We here at Woodstock repeatedly stated the Oline was finesse and lacked physicality
Bruh fields actually had a decent line last year, we ranked dead middle of the NFL which isn’t bad but isn’t good. 36 pressures on 37 pass attempts is horrendous
If Caleb had last years line against the Texans, he would have been pressure 6 times all night (based on his release and the lines blocking time). He had the 6th fastest release in the league and was pressured on all but 1 throw. Justin Fields was holding the ball. Caleb is not (mostly). He has no time to throw.
You win in the trenches. You have to control the line of scrimmage. No running game established. When a Quarterback has to throw 36+ passes, that's not going to make that QB successful.
As a Bears fan he o doubt threw 36 screens.....I lost count after #14.....
The O is worse than it was last year. The O-line is worse than it was last year.
bears have a iffy OL, no depth at WR; I think Rome isnt healthy and the Allen trade may end up being another mistake made by Poles. AND they have no run game. but to be fair, the titans are a great run stopping Defense (been that way for 3+ years) and the texans front 7 is rough as well, esp after they added Hunter & Edwards. I think the offense starts to fix some things vs the colts. As for waldron, i wasnt sold on him while he was in Seattle. i think the Mcvay connection is talked about too much
No OL = no run or throws. this year is especially bad, particularly from the center and guard positions. all of the interior linemen are 4-7th round draft pick levels. anybody could have seen this coming if they just didn't pay attention to the caleb williams hype. i like rome but they should've traded that pick down for a center/LT
Our physical tuffness left with justin fields
It’s 2 games, let’s relax a bit.
@@woodstocknation1961 u need a QB that can actually throw the ball, not one thats just "tough". you wont go far with a QB like him. ----The steelers have 273 passing yards and 1 passing TD & average 15 ppg over 2 weeks (mainly via FGs). ----the reason the STeelers are starting him is because they dont trust what they have on offense. Justin is a good QB to start if u dont trust what u have outside of QB. so when the OL fails, or receivers dont get open, Justin can keep a play alive with his agility/legs.
@@bigdogstatus83 im super relaxed, but i still think that allen trade will come back to bite us. if he has some plantar fasciitis issue, thats a year long issue. which means u gave up a 4th for nothing
ask Jay Cutler how well the Bears build around the QB !! He was brutalized in Chicago and that's not up for argument !
If I see another screen I'm changing teams. That is our main problem!!!!
Welp see ya newly Chargers fan. Because its as similar to a Getsy playbook as you’ll find in the NFL
I’ve never seen a team execute such awful screen plays so much. The receivers can’t block, Cole Kmet can’t block. Hell, most times when the Bears run a screen, there’s two free defenders waiting for the receiver or running back who caught it. They’re blocking scheming is terrible all around
Best take on the state of the Bears O line I've heard
I agree. I really enjoyed this interview
I just would like an answer to why Jenkins and Wright are playing so poorly this year? They played much better a year ago. At the very least, these two should be holding their own based on past seasons and where they were drafted. When they have been healthy, they have played well, in fact very well at times. How do these high picks regress so badly??? Someone must answer for this.
Coaching. Completely different OC & blocking schemes.
They could be the best player in the draft or even from another team if they end up going to the Bears it's over. The Bears are their Kriptonite. I've been watching this happen for over 50 yrs......They get another QB just like Fields I actually think Fields was better. They should've kept Fields and traded that pick to fix that O-line. That O-line ain't been right since 85 😢
The O-line got trashed. All of them. I watched many plays where both left and right tackles got completely blown by, sometimes on the same play. Never seen a center get bullrushed so many times and lose every one. At least 7 occassions where Gabe Davis blew the snap count and timing of the plays, not to mention getting blown by several times also. You can see Caleb clapping and yelling for the snap on several motion plays. Cant forget the many false starts and holding calls against the o line. Did Caleb blow wome throws? Yes. But 36 pressures...come on man
I don't understand why the run game is so bad this year. It was solid that last 2 years and now it looks like they forgot how to play.
cuz we have a 190 pound tailback and we refuse to run inside
@@shake6321 we can't run inside cause our interior lineman get overpowered. that's why they are not running inside. on the next game, watch the O line. Watch how it collapses every play, except for Darnell. Don't focus on any individual player initially, just look at it from a distance. You'll see the problem. The O line should not be getting pushed back like that; no QB can play that way, and that's why we had no offense/run game.
@@niveKOnBass but zone blocking schemes are meant to use the speed of the line and are suppose to be much simpler to execute. also, this is the same oline that was #1 in rushing yards the past few seasons. they didnt become retarded overnight.
@@shake6321 no it's not the same. New center (who is a big problem, the root problem) weighed 285 lbs. Whenever they bullrush, he can't handle it.
Because Justin made the running game and made defenses pick if it was the RB or him running the ball making it 5x easier to run the ball
I believe the problem is Chris Morgan. Everything under his control turns to crap. The line sucked last year and now this year. Two of our line starters last year are now starting and doing well on other teams. Morgan did not communicate well with Getsy and now with Waldron. The definition of insanity is keeping this goof (Morgan) around!!!
Hopefully we can get back on track against Indy.
This is one of the best explanations with examples to clarify, that I have ever heard on play calling and Oline. Beautiful. He's is absolutely correct.
8:06 somewhere, Richie Incognito is nodding along, and saying to himself: "Preach, brother!!!!"
I don't see Uberloss keeping his job. But I said that last year, too.
Heads Will Roll, If They Can't Get A Lid On This Mess!...
This guy cohosting should get the job ! Maybe RUTHIE ONCE A WEEK IF DAN NEEDS DAY OFF.
My Bears ruin QB’s like no other team in NFL history.
This was very good insight
Any quarterback can be great with good OL. The best QB will be a mediocre one with bad OL.
No run game? They were a top 5 rushing team even without Fields almost 1000 yards last year!
no they were not
I was suspicious of Waldron from the start because rumors said he doesn't care enough about the O line or the running game. He just wants to pass, pass, pass. No balance.
Very well said
We had a horrible offensive line last 2 seasons and kept the same group... The offensive line is bad because of personnel primarily and secondly coaching strategies that have to be pushed that aren't the most effective because they can't expect the line to win one on one battles against the defensive players consistently. We didn't see the issues in the past since Fields always had a spy on him helping out the blocking and rushing. Nate Davis is unmotivated and Tevin Jenkins is hurt half the time. The center position has been cast off players and then we ask the guards to help the center out making them do double the work because they are a practice squad person in that position.
I love Schlereth's thoughts about aggessive pass blocking. Why do we always hire the Nagys, Getsys, and Waldrons? Why don't we hire Schlereth?
I have been saying (as has Olin Kruetz and many others) that the Bears need to invest in that O-line. No bargin bin free agents, no 3rd or 4th round projects. But top talent and draft top talent with high picks.
Reminds me when Mike Martz was the coordinator and had cutler do nothing but 7 step drops.
That was a terrible analogy. Are the plays the tools?
Idk I think he meant that the tools were the o line but he screwed up up by saying “you need to give the guys up front the tools to succeed”. I think it makes more sense for the line men to be the foundation and the player makers to be superficial stuff like trim, paint, windows, etc. You can have the beautiful house but it doesn’t matter if the foundation isn’t solid
Mark is 100% correct! I thought Poles would trade down for draft collateral! In the 80's on the way to the Superbowl the Bears had the Black & Blue Btothers offensive Line and the GOAT at running back! And a great defense! Jimmy Mac was the Cherry on Top! Trubisky, Fields and Williams? Not so much!
It’s just weird that Poles is an ex-Olineman himself; so if he knows any position, it’s that one. I don’t think he neglected the line, I just think the lines output is far below their individual talent levels. The linemen looks confused and a step slow, rather than untalented
If you don't think Teven Jenkins has some nasty, you haven't watched him play
Can we try a quick slant? Haven’t seen one run in years
I hope Stink didn't invest to much time on that comment. We Bears fans know Waldron is the huge majority of our O-Line woes. That doesn't make Poles without fault either but Waldron is the OC it is his job to get them functioning as a unit.
I kept waiting for a play action on first down. The defense was keeping on the run on first down.
(I’m not a Bears fan, my wife and her family are) I honestly didn’t think Odunze was a necessary pick. Considering they were deadset on Williams being the new QB, I would’ve taken O-line at No. 9. You can find quality receivers in the middle rounds.
Edit: Not saying Odunze is terrible or anything, just wasn’t necessary. But I also don’t remember if they already got Keenan by that point or not.
I would be the first to admit the Bears' O-line has not been getting it done, and fielding the same guys from last year is not a formula for success! But let's not kid ourselves. The Bears' O-line has faced some elite competition these first two games. The Titan's Jeffery Simmons is an absolute game wrecker, and the combination of the Texans' (Defensive Rookie of the Year) Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter (who recorded double-digit sacks in each of the past two seasons with PFF pass-rush grades of 80.1 and 79.1 and 85 and 84 pressure totals, respectively), may currently be the best edge rush duo in the league! So what do you do when you know you're outmatched on the line (besides bring in new players)? Your offensive play caller can't bury his head in the sand and pretend the same plays that were ineffective in the first quarter will magically start being effective in the second, third, and fourth quarters. I'm looking at you Shane Waldron. Atrocious play calling!
this was so good
As a Seahawks fan who love Rome and Caleb. Hiring Waldron messed up everything. People don’t know how bad Waldron is
I'm from Seattle. We know how awful Waldron is. The Chicago offense is screwed. Categorically screwed. Get yourself another OC.
Why not throw the blessed ball down the field??? Even with an incompetent center, trust Moore and Odunze to make some plays. If it costs a few interceptions, fine. Indy will throw the exact same blitz strategy at the Bears. Bears haven't thrown the ball down the field since (sort of) Cutler.
Facts
Blame your GM. He didn't go get the right O-line personnel.
I can never take this station seriously after the Bernstein incident
I'm sure a GM would know to build from the inside out and center your offence around a good balanced O-line however it didn't happen so speculation or not what Poles does to remedy this is up to him and his communication of the type of players that the offense needs !Just like Schlereth says the right "tools" (BUT) even the right tools are no good in the hands of a coordinator not being able or capable to relay the offensive directive to his players and through practice,pre- season until. NOW- does it all come together or (NO)." THIS IS WHERE THE COACHING BEGINS" I think they thought they had it in mind this O-line could hold up but it hasn't ,so now the coaches adjustments and Poles scouring to find a little more talent takes place, maybe Savala in Carolina is available for a 5-6round pick ,but ultimately he will have to learn the sceam, blocking assignments,ECT.
So that places one again your coaches ability to coach up the team during the season!!
Pay attention to where the blame is needed and how the business of the game effects personal choices ever single year!
I still believe in the Bears
"I BELIEVE IN MONSTERS"
This core Defence is great!,After free agency and draft next year , we should look pretty good, the picks from Carolina look like they will be in the higher number of the draft , two or three pro bowl type interior line men and even tackle can be addressed there are several interior line men available in Un restricted free agency next year , and so is Miles Garrett whom I feel is the last solid piece to this Defence you can't pass up ,
It's on Poles if I can see what needs to be done
I'd hope he is seeing it as well.....
Why can’t the O Line players be as fit as defense linemen? Just cause you weigh more doesn’t make you stronger!! Imagine O Line against D Line all in shape like Montez, Miles, Jones now let’s see who can hold who? I’m just saying..
I think Odunze would have been an absolute killer pick… if Caleb could be in a position to get him the ball!!! But he has NO protection! NONE
At some point ,poles and eberflus should be held accountable. They hire and draft theses coaches and players. They always find their escape goat
Corners and oline have it hard but it’s part of the game
When the Bears offense was terrible in the mid 70s even though Walter was running, I turned to watching the Roger Staubach Led Cowboys for entertainment!
Nobody talking about the penalties from the OL
coleman shelton weighs 285 pounds, and you can see how that's a problem when he gets bullrushed. he does not have a good anchor. if i was a DC for another team i'd have the linemen bullrush that guy every play.
I think you mean DC...but i agree with you
@@Mr_Clubber yup that's what I meant. Edited it thx lol
The players play the coaches coach, players untimely win or lose the game!!!
Why did we let whitehair walk. He was one of our most reliable guys. He played center and guard stupid
I knew Poles wasn’t the guy when he revealed Rome was the second overall prospect on their list. Yes he’s good but if you watched the tape you knew Harrison Jr & Nabers were clear cut 1 & 2
its not the play calling its more fundamental. its the coaching, they dont know what theyre supposed to do or missing assignments with seemingly no accountability
The bears did the most "we hate QBs" bears thing; they brought in Kliff Kingsbury, QB/ offensive advisor to lincoln riley at USC........and then hired shane waldron......🤣🤣🤣
After all this time they still protect the QB with a H/S O line.
The QB suppose to elevate the line, that's cool if CW had been here for two years but early in his career. You should've invested in OL unless you really didn't know you were picking Caleb until the day of Trading JF, even then, why didn't you get better OL to protect your MOST VALUED ASSET.
Unreal...
My man on the left bout as focused as a 3rd grader if he ain't being talked to directly.
Good stuff from the oldhead
Bears O-Line is garbage and couple that with Waldron's HS play schemes, its going to be a long season for da Bears. Texans game exposed da Bears. Waldron/Eberflus couldnt see and adjust to Texans 4-5 man rush/blutz package. The entire NFL teams that plays against Bears, they will just mirror what Texans did. Caleb is not going to last behind the O-Line.
The Texans didn't expose us, all us Bears fans know our O-Line is weak, weak, weak and Waldron can't call a play to get us out of a wet paper bag. Yep, it' gonna be another long season for us.
Eberflus and Waldron are the worst HC/OC combo in the NFL
How much do you think it would cost to get Kelce out of retirement?
The Bears wouldn't pay him enough......
Bears fans are the most flip flop at 1 minute y'all are calling him King Poles the next minute y'all are criticizing I always had a problem with his lack of investment mainly at the center position, if the center position is fixed then the rest of the O-line will look a lot better I was watching snaps from last season and even though Lucas Patrick didn't play that good he definitely had a tough and physical mentality even though he was undersized and injury prone he now is playing well for the New Orleans saints what I do think fans have wrong is the drafting part I don't think drafting the offensive lineman in this draft would have made much of a difference did you see how JC Latham has been struggling Pittsburgh is 2 and 0 but their offensive line is very shaky and they have drafted a rookie there from Washington and Broderick Jones last season from Georgia so I don't think Young offensive lineman is the answer with a rookie quarterback you just need some veterans that want to play nasty they don't have to be the big names. Name me an offensive lineman on the San Francisco 49ers outside of Trent Williams I bet you you can't without looking at the roster so it's more so about the system which is why the offensive coordinator and the head coach have to put their players in a better position to succeed it's really that simple more double teams and chip & cut blocks and please somebody teach your offensive lineman how to pick up a defensive line stunt the biggest issue I see is Shelton you just can't have that pressure coming up the middle no matter who's playing quarterback, but especially a rookie being back there.
This O line is from harbor freight
Yes, it was the offensive coordinators fault!!!!!! Fire Getsy!!!!!! Oh wait, he is the Raiders OC, and has Gardner Minshew leading the league in most passing stats. Um?????? fire Waldron!!!!!!
Got Dam, you people need to stop; its two games in, yes the OL is not playing its best, but this line has not really played together, this is a new offense, and more importantly.
A NEW YOUNG QB, regardless of how good he supposed to be. "CALEB IS A ROOKIE LEARNING A NEW OFFENSE".
Playing with players he never played with before he and the Bears team needs time together. This will take some time, for me I am giving them until game 5 to GEL.
RELAX!
All drop backs no roll outs? Williams was picked because he can move and throw on the run. Seems simple.
The Bears' owners are clueless. They are not serious about creating a winning organization. A clown show. They just want that sweet NFL $$$$.They're incapable of creating a winning team. And I'm a Bears fan.
Football starts on the lines, always has. Bears o line isn’t working well, Shelton isn’t a starting center.
I hate to say it but Hard Knocks kinda made Ryan Poles look bad at his job.
The never ending Bears cycle. 🤣🤣
No more god damn screens
They can establish the run if they want to. He is another failure at coordinator. The threat of the run always has to be there. No one is afraid he is going to call a game that will run it down a teams throat
We need to run the ball under center
Yup. Sick to death of those delayed draws. No time for that crap. Another oc with no clue. Just gonna call his plays no matter what.
Play callings were awful. No play action with the poor OL?
This is Chris Morgan’s third year coaching the offensive line. It has been the same crap show from once he started. Has anyone on that line improved since he’s been there? No, they haven’t. This is not a Waldron issue, this is O-line coaching issue and he should be fired.
If i was Shane Waldron: 1. Put the Crack Pipe Down an use the cards your dealt starting on the basics this is not Madden...2. Fire your OL Coach...3. Trade or cut Nate Davis... 4. Put current Center Coleman on Bench and go with next man up or beg Poles to trade or sign a real Center.
Can u throw a slant.......it works
Bad play calling results in lots of sacks.
Main problem is they should have drafted alt or another top olinemsn they could have won with fields with this D i kept telling people caleb couldnt win in college how will he dominate the NFL?? And trust me im not a fields fan hes the number 1 reason we lost to clemson the first time
why dont teams start using better athletes for their olines...
Until we get a top notch QB it all means nothing, we get rid of fields who is a bigger better faster with a stronger arm, now we're back to blaming the play caller.....nothing new.
The OC, OLine and coaches are a joke Ryan Poles and Kevin Warren must step in to correct course.
Need to get a HOF line coach in to coach the line. Both offense and defense. The other day I heard an ESPN moron talk about how this is all Eberflus' fault bc he defensive minded....WELL that is why they hired a new O corrd....give the team some time to gel already.
Y Bears just can't get right at O.C.
1.O-line 2.- Waldron ass play calling 3. Caleb
You really think Caleb is the problem?
Lou Getzy all over again
CHI will look much better in week 3 vs IND. All this negativity is exhausting
Maybe Bench Williams by week 8 and dont hurt your defense??? This guy stinks. Bears lose to the Colts 22-16 this week to being back to familiarity (last place in their division.)
But this guy crapped on Justin with a worse bears team. Mark sucks at predicting anything lol mostly always wrong 😂
Highschool football is better than the the bears
The blame game and complaining is cool two days after now its time for solutions
