The intensity between greg and yaris the whole time was soo good. And Rob getting into character and the eye twitching the whole time was a great touch. Big props to a great DM

Loved the new episode! It sounds like Yarris might have some more insight on Laethil since he left the Order right when the last High Sorcerer 'disappeared' aka assassinated by Laethil. Whether Yarris was in league with Laethil or tried to stop him, Yarris being in a frozen wasteland now means it didn't work out in either case. New powerful potential ally they could recruit against Laethil if they play this right. Lol, which they probably won't. I love the way Rob weaves the main story into all this, even while following the module! Can't wait for next week!!

It could be just a thing he has, like a TOC, I had a classmate in my university that had that same thing but in both eyes, and he would do it CONSTANTLY, so it's not necessarily implying he's possessed....or I got that wrong and my classmate is possessed holy shite well at least I don't see him anymore
This whole series is so great! I love that the cut scenes are played throughout the game play and how it move the story along. It helps to bring the story to life for me! Some of the best D&D content I have seen on the internet! Long Live VLDL!

It might just be part of the character. Rob is a very dedicated DM. But I suspect, as you do, it means something is up with him. Perhaps it was a side effect of the truth serum he very clearly put in the ale he and Greg drank?

Yes, I almost screamed in frustration when everyone else wanted to do more investigating last episode and Bodger was complaining that it was too much talking and he wanted to fight. Although, admittedly, totally IC. :) Sometimes, I think they should just tie and gag Bodger and lead him around and untie him when they need him to hit something, LOL
OK, so I think I’ve looked at every single comment posted so far and I don’t think I’ve seen anyone mention the fact that there was clearly some kind of truth potion in the ale that Yarris and Greg drank. Rob signposted it so clearly! And now I’m noticing the twitch in Yarris’ eye when he’s talking sometimes and I’m wondering if that’s a side effect of Yarris trying to fight off the potion? Is he lying about some of what he’s saying? I swear, Rob is too dedicated and smart a DM for these guys - they don’t pick up on his clues! Edit: Watching again, Ben clearly notices the tic when Rob makes it really pronounced but he doesn’t mention it, I’m guessing due to not wanting to metagame (which is great!) Hopefully next week when they’re face to face, B.O.B. can ask him about it!

Dunno where you are located but check the net for online groups. Roll20 is a good resource and discord has channels for groups. I've only ever played with friends and colleagues so I have no idea how random groups will shake out, but it's never been easier to find a game.

I wish at the end of their journey instead of some grand celebration in some castle where they are celebrating, they instead go back to that lake or river or whatever it was at the earlier episodes and start a new stone skipping contest.
Very good episode I loved it! One of the rare episodes where our illustrious DM Robert can talk un-interrupted and set the atmosphere to a whole different level! I hope the party does well in the next episode! Every time I watch these videos I can't wait for my next GM session. (Fridays I GM Starfinder) it gets me so excited to play. Rob is really good at this and the VLDL crew are such a good collection of "real" players. It's clear they are all learning the game, but they really get into character and they all totally buy in to the RPG social contract. Such a joy to watch from top to bottom.

Something I wish Greg and Baradun (sp?) would create: A magical bag Bodger could talk/yell into. Permanent Silence spell cast on the outside of the bag so no-one could hear what Bodger said. Once per day, when the bag was opened, there would be a chance (% depends on how frequently and loudly Bodger yelled into the bag) a gust of wind would blow out. This would: 1. Let Bodger express his angry emotions without putting the rest of the team into danger; 2. Create a new tool that might help save the team while fighting enemies or solving problems. (Gust of Wind could push arrows away; blow snow into an enemy's face, blinding them, etc...) If Baradun (sp?) could have the Displaced Beast Cloak made, maybe the team could have this made too? Please feel free to use this idea if it's not already been copyrighted by someone else. Also, great job, guys! This series is the best on the Web, bar none. ❤ Thank you so much for all your hard work and sacrifice to create this. Best wishes to you all.
How's Robert so good at potraying Yarris as believable but could be deceiving at once? Now I really don't know what to expect at the next episode. Did Yarris poisoned the drink? Or was is safe? Also the terrified Greg was really a wonder to watch, I can't stop laughing seeing his face all the time.
Judging by the fact he pointed at the cask while saying he's working on clearing his name, I assume it's some sort of enchanted beverage designed to magically charm those who drink it. I think Greg having to roll a charisma save heavily supports this hypothesis.
Personally I'm starting to wonder if their best bet is to just go Murderhobo on Yarris since they are now all in the room with him. Tough choice since on one hand they can now all see him and can fight on a more even ground, possibly overwhelm him, and out damage him before he can even move. The two biggest problems is that he's probably powerful enough to light up that entire room with devastating AOE spells and even more important, despite Bob being outside with a cleric for like what... 20 minutes, he never got a single heal.
@@EbuCallinav I don't think that's a good idea. Yaris has already shown he's pretty damn powerful, plus Baradun's history check reveals Yaris' got decently high ranking among wizards. Plus, Bob is in no condition to resume fighting. Jury's still out on how innocent Yaris is in this whole thing, but at the moment, resuming combat is basically a death sentence for them.

So calling it now, Yaris knows Master Leyathil (sp?) From when Leyathil had the last high sorcerer removed, hoping that would open up his chance to come in and be high sorcerer, which was before the ten year old baradun said hold my beer. Yaris as forensics didn't trust Leyathil and found some damning proof of his involvement. Leyathil either sapped Yaris powers, or blackmailed him or something to go into exile in the cold cold north, which is where he's been since. I put ZERO faith in our guys piecing this all together (although I still love them) but I really hope they get yaris on their side in the fight against Leyathil. But that's my theory!

This whole series is so great! I love that the cut scenes are played throughout the game play and how it move the story along. It helps to bring the story to life for me! Some of the best D&D content I have seen on the internet! Long Live VLDL!

He's awfully pale... But if that comes to pass (only just started this one) then I applaud Rob, character acting, development and weapon choice, as well as additional dimensions to the deadly 'no trespassing' signs.
@John-Supablaze Lucien Lachance: Important member of the Dark Brotherhood in TES4 Oblivion. He is the NPC who visits you in your sleep, if you murder someone. Personally, I prefer Rob's style 👍

Am I the only one who finds Yarris' eye tic ominous? No? Okay... Rob is doing an amazing job portraying him! Greg being terrified was hilarious (poor guy), I'm also surprised Bodger could stay calm for so long.

The man is probably stir crazy from the constant worries of being murdered because wanted, and seem quite paranoiac so yeah the eye tic seem pretty in character
It might just be part of the character. Rob is a very dedicated DM. But I suspect, as you do, it means something is up with him. Perhaps it was a side effect of the truth serum he very clearly put in the ale he and Greg drank?

Yes, I almost screamed in frustration when everyone else wanted to do more investigating last episode and Bodger was complaining that it was too much talking and he wanted to fight. Although, admittedly, totally IC. :) Sometimes, I think they should just tie and gag Bodger and lead him around and untie him when they need him to hit something, LOL
OH MY GOSH! The conversation is painful. Rob was literally GUIDING GREG toward talking about Padric.
OK, so I think I’ve looked at every single comment posted so far and I don’t think I’ve seen anyone mention the fact that there was clearly some kind of truth potion in the ale that Yarris and Greg drank. Rob signposted it so clearly! And now I’m noticing the twitch in Yarris’ eye when he’s talking sometimes and I’m wondering if that’s a side effect of Yarris trying to fight off the potion? Is he lying about some of what he’s saying? I swear, Rob is too dedicated and smart a DM for these guys - they don’t pick up on his clues!
Edit: Watching again, Ben clearly notices the tic when Rob makes it really pronounced but he doesn’t mention it, I’m guessing due to not wanting to metagame (which is great!) Hopefully next week when they’re face to face, B.O.B. can ask him about it!
After the session Ben said he noticed and didn't want to metagame. Alan didn't notice because I am right in front of a light from his perspective.

Dunno where you are located but check the net for online groups. Roll20 is a good resource and discord has channels for groups.
I've only ever played with friends and colleagues so I have no idea how random groups will shake out, but it's never been easier to find a game.
These D&D videos are very good I haven’t stopped watching them . I’ve used these videos to get my friends into D&D . 40th episode good job (The curse of Bob)
I wish at the end of their journey instead of some grand celebration in some castle where they are celebrating, they instead go back to that lake or river or whatever it was at the earlier episodes and start a new stone skipping contest.
Very good episode I loved it! One of the rare episodes where our illustrious DM Robert can talk un-interrupted and set the atmosphere to a whole different level! I hope the party does well in the next episode! Thank you alot for making this DnD series it is one of my favourite things to watch on youtube and I wait for the episodes coming with great anticipation each week!

Every time I watch these videos I can't wait for my next GM session. (Fridays I GM Starfinder) it gets me so excited to play. Rob is really good at this and the VLDL crew are such a good collection of "real" players. It's clear they are all learning the game, but they really get into character and they all totally buy in to the RPG social contract. Such a joy to watch from top to bottom.

Something I wish Greg and Baradun (sp?) would create:
A magical bag Bodger could talk/yell into. Permanent Silence spell cast on the outside of the bag so no-one could hear what Bodger said.
Once per day, when the bag was opened, there would be a chance (% depends on how frequently and loudly Bodger yelled into the bag) a gust of wind would blow out.
This would:
1. Let Bodger express his angry emotions without putting the rest of the team into danger;
2. Create a new tool that might help save the team while fighting enemies or solving problems. (Gust of Wind could push arrows away; blow snow into an enemy's face, blinding them, etc...)
If Baradun (sp?) could have the Displaced Beast Cloak made, maybe the team could have this made too?

How's Robert so good at potraying Yarris as believable but could be deceiving at once? Now I really don't know what to expect at the next episode. Did Yarris poisoned the drink? Or was is safe? Also the terrified Greg was really a wonder to watch, I can't stop laughing seeing his face all the time.
Judging by the fact he pointed at the cask while saying he's working on clearing his name, I assume it's some sort of enchanted beverage designed to magically charm those who drink it. I think Greg having to roll a charisma save heavily supports this hypothesis.
Personally I'm starting to wonder if their best bet is to just go Murderhobo on Yarris since they are now all in the room with him.
Tough choice since on one hand they can now all see him and can fight on a more even ground, possibly overwhelm him, and out damage him before he can even move.
The two biggest problems is that he's probably powerful enough to light up that entire room with devastating AOE spells and even more important, despite Bob being outside with a cleric for like what... 20 minutes, he never got a single heal.
Poison wouldn't be Charisma, it'd be Constitution. Charisma Saves would be for something like being Charmed or Frightened....
if it's charm potion, is there a chance Yarris actually send those miners using that potion but they got outcharmed by whatever living in the glacier?
@@EbuCallinav I don't think that's a good idea. Yaris has already shown he's pretty damn powerful, plus Baradun's history check reveals Yaris' got decently high ranking among wizards. Plus, Bob is in no condition to resume fighting.
Jury's still out on how innocent Yaris is in this whole thing, but at the moment, resuming combat is basically a death sentence for them.

So calling it now, Yaris knows Master Leyathil (sp?) From when Leyathil had the last high sorcerer removed, hoping that would open up his chance to come in and be high sorcerer, which was before the ten year old baradun said hold my beer. Yaris as forensics didn't trust Leyathil and found some damning proof of his involvement. Leyathil either sapped Yaris powers, or blackmailed him or something to go into exile in the cold cold north, which is where he's been since. I put ZERO faith in our guys piecing this all together (although I still love them) but I really hope they get yaris on their side in the fight against Leyathil. But that's my theory!
