- We went to an Auction in Fayette Missouri to watch a 1949 Chevy 5 window 3100 sell. It was a decent barn find with low miles.

Funny how that last payment keeps on coming every time it's in need of repair.
Good lord, people must think these trucks are made outa gold...... Way, way over priced in my opinion. Some city slicker will slam it to the ground and dump a 350sm into it, which makes me sick to think about...... My truck is all original, runs and looks great, and I'm leaving it to my son who has already agreed not to change a thing and will leave it to his son. Seems it's the only way to save these trucks in original condition nowadays.......
I believe your right on the money. These trucks are WAY over priced! And yes, it will end up slammed with big wheels on it. Anyone who would pay that much for that little, will not think twice about dismantling an original & complete old truck.
I like them stock too, kinda like a time machine when you drive them.
I got them for free out of Iown Kansas and hauled like twenty of them to washington state and fixed them up to sell. This was in late seventies and I did fix them up and sold all of them and I was able to just get what I put into them and that one sold more as it is for what I made on mine. Good thing I wasn't at the auction as I would of went fifteen thousand for it in that shape was I still in money which I am not. at 73 an social security you can't by shit

Pretty decent old Chevy, surprised that the outside door handles weren't dropping like many of them do, looks like some cosmetics and it's good to go 😎
I've got 3 of them the door handle drop seems to be hit and miss issue none of mine have it. I suspect the cause is a lack of lubricant

$6300 is a bit too steep unless it's a really solid piece. Can't tell with all the junk in the bed. Couldn't see the floor pans, etc.

Embarrassing. Internet people got them up higher than the locals were going to but at maybe 5k it should have bern all over. Someone paid california inflated price lol. Hope they plan to keep it. Yours is better

It was a 3 speed manual. Column shift, aka "3 on the tree"
@@FarmAlarm Look @ 2:38 it has a wide brake pedal and no clutch pedal. The shifter looks like a standard 3 on the tree but the pedals don't. I learned how to drive in a truck like this on my Grandfather's farm when I was 8 yr old.
Looks can be deceiving.. but you'll have to look again. Its a manual. The pedal that you see is actually the clutch pedal. Look really close and youll see the brake pedal sunk all the way to the floor. The clutch pedal wasn't wide, but the camera made it look that way. Learning to drive young is great. I remember driving down the highway for my grandfather at the age of 13 or 14.
@@FarmAlarm I guess the angle of the camera is what threw me off. I didn't think the automatic was available until the next body style. At first glance I was convinced that this truck was something that I didn't know existed. My Grandfather taught me so much and it sounds like your's was also special. Thanks for sharing the video.
