      yeah, I feel like first contact should be able to recoup the profits of 100 years of a single human. hell just a a small communications fee set up and it'll probably turn a profit in a few days.

    A measly 2 million for a freshly terraformed planet? Which is the life savings of a single individual? That speaks volumes about how advanced and widespread humanity has become when a planet is equivalent in value to a current day mansion.

    • @zephyrstrife4668
      @zephyrstrife4668 ปีที่แล้ว +55

      There is a theory out there that if we actually managed to achieve the ability to mine asteroids, a single asteroid would contain enough raw material for us to become a post scarcity society... Effectively becoming The Federation from Star Trek.

    • @Amoth_oth_ras_shash
      @Amoth_oth_ras_shash ปีที่แล้ว +19

      @@zephyrstrife4668 well , a better realistic version of trek aka... currency maintained with maths to be stable and as drones sustain 90% of the civilian populance there be some sort of 'basic sustenance' for an individual though kept 'moderate' so to avoid great filter risks that a post scarcity situation can allow if used in short sighted manners

    • @liwojenkins
      @liwojenkins ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@zephyrstrife4668 We have had similar things happen in reality and that never happened. The economy adjusts. Even if we all had billions of dollars, that doesn't guarantee that there will be more potatoes produced, which means potatoes might start going for $10B a piece. Your speculation is literally not at all how economics or markets work and if implemented as stated, would completely destroy the worlds economy. It's a cool fantasy but shows a fundamental lack of understanding of how markets, commodities or money works.

    • @Amoth_oth_ras_shash
      @Amoth_oth_ras_shash ปีที่แล้ว +3

      well , currency you know ,post scarcity society likely has to turn value of such things over to math equations based on what resources it takes to produce the most basic needs for an sapient individual , rather then the whims of desires since otherwise you get the situation of an mmo where everyone can print gold and npcs sells everything aka.... the inflation never stop

    • @Netherdan
      @Netherdan ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The currency is probably very valuable to the point these 2 million were almost enough to ensure his retirement for what seems to be several centuries of life left, as he isn't worried that he'd need to work "a few hundred more years" to be able to retire again which means he still get at least a few more centuries of a healthy body to enjoy even before having to retire

Or then he could just retire with the aliens - I mean those little things would probably be absolutely pleased to let him stay too.

    i do like this story for an extra reason , the human has to take a moment to ensure flawless communication and he dont just 'fix planet' with blue space magic no... he gets a colony right to one else where as making a whole planet stable in x climate way and with y compatible atmospheric make up is hard enough when working with a stable celestial body & system.
    when it in geological and celestial terms sounds like their origin world be undergoing some very long term changes making it hard to tell exactly what caused them.

    • @Amoth_oth_ras_shash
      @Amoth_oth_ras_shash ปีที่แล้ว

      also though... be curious on what happened with their origin planet as it sounds like not only must there been long term cycle things building up ,but possibly outright celestial things like...
      did planets orbits change after million long years of moving in ways that brought them ever closer to a point where their pull affect each other and jumble about the systems line up ?
