I have 4 sugar gliders and 1 of them (Gumby) will come in the shower to look/find me in the shower and he gets wet. It doesn't seem to bother him, I try to dry him gently with a towel but he couldn't care less. This has happened on several occasions, on his own free will, and I've never seen him shiver or look cold. Just the same happy to be with "daddy" personality as he always is. On the other hand the other 3 won't step 1 toe into the shower.

They won't melt. But Sugarglider's fur is VERY dense and even more than some cats and if it's not completely dried it can cause skin problem like scabies, etc. Sugar gliders are much like cat, they spend most of their time bathing (licking) themselves even in their sleep.
Their fur is so fine that you’re not supposed to get them wet. It takes forever for them to completely dry and things like wet tail can kill them. They groom each other and themselves and do not need you to groom them.
My sugar gliders are so loving but would never dream of bathing I had never heard of any glider being bathed until I read that lady's comment as long as they are not left in the water as they would drown they can't swim

Oh, please don't bathe your sugar glider. It's harmful to them. If your glider is dirty or smelly to the degree that it needs a bath, that means something is wrong with it and you should consult your vet. Just as rabbits shouldn't be bathed, neither should gliders. Poor little thing. :(
Barring the spilling of something toxic to them to ingest on their fur, where it is unsafe for them to remove it themselves, they do not need or want a bath.
i used to bring my suggie in the shower with me when she got her own poo stuck to her tail, but i didn’t know that it was unsafe for them. i don’t bring her in the shower anymore, but i do get the poo out as best i can with a wet paper towel, and make sure they are dry afterwards. :)

If your gliders still have them it’s probably best to try to clean it away since it does cause matting which is painful and uncomfortable. Yellow spots should easily wash away, if they don’t then you should do it yourself. Since they aren’t wild animals they don’t need it. It’s really only for mating.

Can I use a bioactive substrate? Springtails, isopods, organic soil, leaf litter, sphagnum moss, wood coal, coconut husk chunks mixed together with cork bark for a hide? Has anyone tried this? Maybe could cover the top layer of the bioactive substrate with biodebradable packing paper with holes poked in it for isopods to feast on waste easier, keeping the gliders from reaching much of the substrate while also creating a dark spot for the isopods
