Nice first drive, Mike! I truly enjoy these types of videos! I really like how you describe the features that the car offers. While, still providing an entertaining, and REAL driving experience! This video will be very helpful to many people in the market for a Kia Optima SX Turbo! Keep up the great work, Mike! 👌 -DriveAndBeDriven 🚘 "The Quest To Record The Best!"
Very nice drive but it would be fun if you can do speed tests like. 0-100, how fast the car brakes from 100 km, compare with other cars for the same price range or other thx
Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB). It is standard on Optima, so accidental auto hold release wouldn't be a problem anyway. Unless you're going backwards 😑
Have been looking at this car and waiting for Kia Stinger to come out. I drive 60 miles a day and the road noise is horrible in my current vehicle. Was surprised that your portion on the highway seemed loud as well on camera? Cabin noise definitely high on the priority list in my next vehicle.
Lori Greene You will have to drive it for yourself to get a feel for the noise. I purchased a 2017 Optima Hybrid and depending on the surface of the road you hear some noise but I did realize that the volume at which I have a conversation is lower than the 2014 hybrid I had. Listening to the presenter in this video he is not speaking loud as his perception of noise isn't as high as what the microphone is picking up. You might have noticed you are not hearing the engine note and in the portions where he is not speaking, you can hear more noise because the gain on the mic is up a bit. I posted a driving video of my hybrid using a cheap mic into an iPhone and the noise sounds higher than what I recall in the car. I typically drive with the radio set at 5 and can hear it quite well, in the other car, I would have to be at 15 to overcome the wind noise. The 2016+ Optima's have better insulation, more so on the higher level trim. I think the Stinger will be a lot better, along the lines of what the luxury cars it's targeting has. I like these types of videos, keep up the work Mike.
Videos are cool! but when your doing a walk around and review of the vehicle. Do more revs of the Engine and more testing the audio system. I like the test drive videos because it gives me an overview of the car and how it will handle day to day traveling.
My brother, Soal, in Hawai, people in Beulunu, the system for fixing the speed of the sorrento, the high road bug is not effective, I mean with the intention of smelling the sorrento, but when walking in it with high speed and maneuvering in the highways, there is no determination or correct stability. Is the words and advice?
Nice video! Quick question though, do you have to put on that auto hold everytime you come to a complete stop or does the Optima auto hold when you are come to a complete stop providing the feature is on?
MikesCarInfo we have the reverse issue in Canada. ppl stay in the middle and right lane doing the same speed so it screws everything up. Was just curious :)
Great videos Mike! Really like these POV test drives. I am assuming you have different specifications in your contracts with these dealerships with test drives? So that's why you've only been test driving at MBKia? Love the vids.
MackyG the only difference between the 2017 and 2018 Optima SXL is that the 2018 has LED foglights, and they removed the Wireless Qi Charger for 2018. Other than that, everything else is the same. I have the 2018.
@@JWard2 yes, the 2019+ Optimas come with LKA standard on all trim levels. Prior to that, 2016-2018 only had LKW (Lane Keep warning) but no assistance on the EX, SX/SX-L.
Not surprised the Kia would be popular as it has very compliant suspension more along the lines of an Audi compared to the Mazda. The Kia is also much quieter inside.
you should be a shame of yourself test driving a turbo engine on an open highway, doing the exact speed limit and or setting the cruise! Horrible..You have a turbo engine, you should open it up. at least a .25 mile just to show us the power.
Great review, getting a lot feedback from your reviews I like both cause in depth look at everything
My favorite car!

Sounds like a smooth ride
Melvin Jefferson, yep it is a smooth ride, very luxurious.

I liked the video a lot. Was wondering about the ride quality the whole time though, I don't think that you touched on it at all.
At the end of the video, he said it was a comfortable ride. The ride quality is top notch though (I have an '18).
Great info on the first video, taught me a lot about Kia

AM CONCERNED ABOUT ENGINE/ VIBRATIONNOISE LEVEL IN THE INTEROR WHILE DRIVING!!
PETER ANTHONY CALM DOWN!!! IT'S QUIET AND PLEASURABLE!!! SOME WOULD SAY SERENE!!

As long it is turned on it will work. Thanks for watching :)
I'm going for 2019 sxl love the 215 sxl HP but 2019 is 245 HP with all futures love 2019 sxl
SXL has 274 HP not 215 or 245

good videos. would of liked more feedback about the unique features like the cooled seats and heated steering wheel.
Nice Job 👍🏻
Nice vid, keep doing these. You guys don't have keep right except to pass laws down there?
In NC/SC vehicles below the normal speed of traffic keep in right lanes.
If everyone stayed in the right lane that it would be a traffic nightmare.

Yes they were nice enough to allow me to test drive the cars recently. The other dealers might come around eventually :)
I hope so!
Mike what's the road noise like, it seems a little noisy from the camera
+silkynitro It was about average level of noise for these roads. The camera amplifies everything :)
i love this car
Mike! Can you do a review of the 2018 kia optima sxl? I can't find the difference between the 2017 and the 2018. Thanks!
I would also suggest for you to maybe connect an android and Iphone to see how the infotainment function when paired

No problem i was looking at one when i bought my Liberty/Legacy 3.6R but i wanted the 6 cylinder engine so went with the Subaru in the end.

+Marilynn's Corner I think you have a point ;)
Of course, I do Mike! It's a turbo for heaven's sake. Don't be such an old man behind the wheel...lol
Too much rambling. Get to the point.
The "point" of the video was not to hear me talk but to hear and see the car drive.
