Well, I bought one. I'm coming from 3yrs on an Inmotion V8F. As I mentioned earlier I am a heavy rider so I ordered the 66# springs and since I only ride urban streets I got the street tire. Thanks for your input.
@@2cells1pack One more question if you have time. For a more relaxed rider it seems that some power-pad pad locations may not be needed. @@2cells1pack so.. if suspension is the only real issue what if ppl step up a stiffness level? I weigh ~180 lbs, so my default would be the 62lb version but I could get the 66lb instead.
Great review and format! Regarding the suspension, the consensus of reviews seems to be to go with the 66lb spring, even for lighter riders if riding heavy bumps/jumps. Bottoming out only after longer sets of stairs, however, sounds to me like classic suspension “packing”, where the rebound damping is set too slow to allow the shock to return to its starting position between successive hits, and therefore the wheel ends up deeper and deeper in its travel with each stair hit and eventually bottoming out. Increasing compression damping can also reduce this effect, but at a tradeoff of comfort. Ideally, spring rate selection should be determined by static sag. The geared up rider at a standstill should be compressing 15-25% of the total shock travel. Comfort and bottom-out resistance are then tuned with damping settings. As a 170lb rider on the fence between 62lb and 66lb spring rates, I’m curious if a lighter rider (such as 100lbs) still gets any meaningful static sag at all with the 66lb spring? With too little sag, suspension performance and handling can also suffer. Thanks!
Regarding: - "packing" - the suspension bottoms out only on the last step. We have the rebound set pretty quick if you look at the closeup of the stairs shots - static sag - with christine on the 66lb patton, it still did sag. Sag on the 62lb was in the 30-35% range which IMO is too much.
Thanks so much for the reply! Agreed, 30+% sag is too much. Some empirical sag measurements were exactly the info I’ve been looking for. Now I can buy the 66lb spring with confidence.
Let’s hope Leaperkim or the aftermarket produces progressive-rate springs for the Patton to push its relatively short suspension travel closer to perfection.

I believe that they suggest a lower coil weight for the suspension because it allows the user to have a very soft suspension for paved roads and commuting, but they can still adjust the compression dampening to make it not bottom out on the trail. Getting a heavier weight won't allow you to get as soft as it could be.
@@2cells1pack oh wow that's concerning. Though, I have a friend that's 140lbs and he says the 52lb is too stiff for him even at the softest settings. I'm assuming it's because he isn't riding it as hard as you guys. I bought a 58lbs version but mainly using it for the road and I'm 120lbs. Do you think that's fine?

We were very disappointed after such high hopes from our first impressions. It swept us off our feet in early riding, but after really giving it a run for its money we started to notice that the suspension was too soft for the type of riding the wheel is fit for.
I would love to practice jumping and going down stairs a little more with the Patton, but I was not dare to do that after bottoming out the suspension. Could only sit on the side and watch others doing it. I was really disappointed :( -Xtine
I can't say whether or not bottoming out will damage as I have not tested personally. But I will say that suspensions are designed to be used in a certain operating range, if that operating range is exceeded, it is out of the design intent.
If you'd decide to do a later review, it would be nice to see how durable the parts are. How complicsted it is to change a tire, if it can hold up in pouring rain etc.

Great review, I really enjoyed it, subbed. Christina, what size helmet are you wearing in the video, S or M? I'm also around 100 pounds and with a relatively small head, it is really reassuring to see that you can manage the wheel so well!
Christine wears size S helmet, however keep in mind that TSG helmet isn't good for higher speeds. I would view the TSG as a little better than a bicycle helmet in terms of real protection.

Great review as usual👍🏻. I receive mine on Monday. I shared the previous comments : an efficient review covering all the main questions we could have with the advantage of 2 point of view. Only « negative » point is the thumbnail not reflecting your global appreciation of the wheel. But on a “marketing” point of view : well done, before watching the review I really thought you discovered something terrible during your tests 😜😉
Is this the best euc with around 16 inch wheel size with suspension for all around use (commuting + light off road)? If not, which similar size wheels are better for general purpose?
Awesome videos. Thanks ! I’m planning on getting the 66lb from Eevees (as a successor to my S18). Do you recommend purchasing the Leaperkim pads or buy grizzla’s? Thanks in advance for your response.
If you get grizzla, you’ll need to get the full fairing kit as well so that they can fit properly. The toe pads and front and rear bumpers get in the way
Thank you for the video! I have the patton and I enjoy it so much but I get loud alarms when I brake hard on full battery, do you know why? And do I need to be concerned about braking cut out? Thank you
Very nice constructive criticisms and I plan on getting the Patton myself but 3rd batch. By then, I hope LK make the front handle higher, make the toe piece wider, have a better shape of the front bumper for better adjustability to workaround that screw head, and maybe have better headlights. And I’m not going to hold my breath but maybe they can improve on the Patton. But if they don’t, it probably won’t matter since I’m not into doing long stairs or big jumps. But looks like the 66lb suspension is the way to go, so thx for the review!
It’s hard to long term review so many wheels - since one person can only ride one. You’d need a full team of reviewers and each person can do a 6 month review.
Also, it really depends on the type of riding you do. If you're going to use the wheel mainly for commuting , then the suspension should be okay for you.
@@2cells1pack Thank you for the quick reply! Did you me you "will still recommend the 62 lb" for my weight class, over the 66? I believe you had a typo
Also, I'm considering switching to street tires since most of my riding is on paved roads. but all the review i see are with knobby patton tires. Do you think street tires would work well on the Patton or does that go against it's design as "an ideal off roading EUC"
I'm shocked the highest weighted spring they have isn't even good for a light weight person. Did LeaperKim seriously not test the wheel at all in any real world conditions? Appreciate the review!
Are these shocks proprietary to the Patton? I’m wondering if the company that makes the shocks might also make a stiffer version that you could swap out.
Great review btw! I cannot believe that they fixed such minor problems compared to the other huge problems that exist on the pre-production wheel..a small stamp and half centimeter of rubber...wow.why didn't they fix the charge port locations? Better spiked pedals? What were they thinking?
I thinking about picking up a 62lb version of the Patton. I weigh roughly 150 with gear on. You think that'll be too soft and cause bottoming out? I do mostly street riding and rarely offroad of do stairs.
Great review! Do you think they'll come out with a heavier weight shock I'm a heavier rider also at around 265lb and don't want to beat up or destroy the suspension.
Yeah, it’s a slightly improved Patton. Lighter weight, progressive springs. Nothing mind blowing tho - if you already own a Patton - I’m not sure I’d upgrade
Bonjour, Deux petites questions : Avez vous aussi touchè le fond avec le 66lbs , Christine a t'elle touché ? Pour 80% de off road , devrais je me tourner au final pour un S22 pro ? Je pese 76kg Goob job for this test 😊
That’s the TSG The Pass Pro. However that helmet is only good for low speed riding, if your wife rides over 35kph, then it’s better to get a helmet with ECE rating.
@@2cells1pack I'll have to make a trip back up to eevee's. I am still convinced the s22 is the widest wheel to date. However width of wheel varies greatly on feel depending on its placement height on the legs. The RS19 was the most uncomfortable wheel i've ever ridden du to its super low width (very bow legged stance on it) for me.
i JUST PURCHASED A EX30 AND i AM A BIG (TALL AND HEAVY 270LBS @ 6'4) How much torque'er would you say this wheel is than the ex30? I also have s22 for the purpose that I would use this wheel for but, I do not like the small clearance that leaperkim did with this wheel, it's a shame as it seems like everyone is raving about the performance of this wheel. I simply could not buy it because of the suspension Leaper uses (cannot change it to something else) and the clearance on this wheel is so low... what do you guys think about this wheel for bigger guys like myself? I am 6'4" and 270 lbs without gear I I do jump and love trails!!!!! have you thought about testing the torque climbing vs ex30 or extreme maybe when it comes out, I know it is a bit unfair since this is a 16 inch wheel and everyone that researches knows smaller wheels make the same motor feel more torquey(sp) so that is one thing ppl need to remember. also, I think begode will make a new 16' wheel (extreme bull maybe) to face off vs this wheel LEAPERKIM put out) it does seem like begode /extreme bull want that performance crown. I would love to hear what you think as I really enjoy a bigger guy closer to my size riding and reviewing wheels (I am still waiting for my ex30 to arrive from china (batch 3) it will be here june Yay) Thanks in advance for your opinions and I look forward to what you think on a smaller wheel like this at speed of 70kmph or here in the USA 42 mph... how does it feel at speed ? I cant wait for my ex30 as I think that wheel will be great for bigger guys. Thank you and you 2 have a GREAT SHOW
@@2cells1pack OH sry, I thought I saw you in a video with another guy (on his channel) maybe electric dreams? So I assumed u tested it ... thanks mate good to know. Keep up the nice format of your videos!
So, you're 240lbs and still got 50+ miles? What riding mode? Normal or high speed mode? How does the 66lb shock handle your size and weight on jumps, trails, curbs, stairs? Bottom out often? How cushy of a ride is it? You mentioned it's easier to bottom out for heavier riders, but HOW much easier? Her riding the 66lb shock and it feeling pretty good on trails tells me I will need a heavier spring/beefier suspension like the Sherman S to not bottom out on around town, mtb trails, stairs, and occasional jumps that are 5-6ft drops, max. I'm 210/225lbs with gear @ 6'1, and think the Patton just doesn't have the suspension I NEED for my weight, especially for offroad and jumps. Although being a heavier rider, and having a small, zippy, lighter, torquier wheel will feel way cooler. The patton seems to have plenty of overhead and torque that taller and heavier riders can leverage the wheel hard and not worry about cut out. That is a bonus for me. And considering it's about the same speed as a sherman s (although not as stable), I can see this becoming my go to wheel for almost everything. But perhaps only on later versions with updates to beefier suspension with more travel. How does it compare to feel of Sherman S? Sherman I'm guessing feels more plush, but much more plush compared to Patton? Or like a 10% difference vs a 90% difference in ride cushiness? I'll have to test ride em for a day to get a really good estimate, but curious your experience between the two, especially for heavier riders. GREAT review. So thorough and straight to the point with objective data and and useful subjective experience too.
50+ miles of light riding (12-15mph avg speed) High speed mode. 66lb definitely not heavy enough for my weight. Bottom out a lot. Super cushy ride though. You can definitely bottom out the wheel on your weight easily - watch my suspension setup video and I do show examples. The torque of the wheel, the playfulness of the wheel is what makes me forgive the lack in suspension stiffness. I still miss the wheel. At speed, the wheel is very stable. I haven't tested a Sherman S yet, so don't know about comparisons.
The thumbnail wasn't meant to be click-baity. We truly were disappointed due to the expectations that we had after our first impressions. It failed short of what our expectations were.
I was truly disappointed as I (who weighs 100lbs) bottomed out the 62lb while going down a larger set of stairs. After that I’m not dare to try doing another set and do not feel comfortable doing any jump at the pump park. It’s quite sad when we limited by the suspension 😔 -Xtine
@@2cells1pack I now own a Patton, based in part on your review, which is mostly very positive. I'm still stumped by the thumbs-down cover image. I'm 165lbs with the 62lb spring. If I never drop down a set of stairs in my life, or jump, I will die with no regrets. All I want from suspension is buttery cush over poor pavement, potholes etc at speed. This delivers, so far.
It is good for people who just want it for road use. But thumbs down because of the fact that it could've been a really good trail wheel if only the suspension could keep up.
Can we not throw around PTSD like it’s a joke? You seriously undermined people with legit ptsd by saying you got it from a trolley handle. I know it was meant to sort of be a joke, but it wasn’t very tasteful, and certainly wasn’t delivered in a comedic enough way to drive home a laugh.
8/10 is disappointing? Too bad about the charge ports and bottoming out, but unless you're Mike Leahy, seems like à wheel for everyone. Disappointing doesn't mean that to me. I did click on the video faster because of it, but I still don't like misleading 👎
I get it, but consider that for the viewer, it sounds as though you don't recommend the wheel. Saying you give it 8/10 but that you were still disappointed is very different from putting it on the video thumbnail along with a frown. You do you, but from my point of view it seemed confusing. Just my 2¢.
Eucs have gotten faster but they've also gotten far too heavy.. quality is horrible, suspension is worthless... I trust my Street motorcycle at speeds over 100 mph but I can't trust EUCs at 40...lame

The Shoei size M is very similar to the TSG size S, which both are on the loose side for me. Hopefully the new Shoei will arrive soon and we could do a review on the helmets :)

Informative video! Why does the thumbnail say "disappointed..." With a thumbs down though?
disappointed becuase we had very high expectations.
It was truly disappointing though. We had such high hopes for it after the first impressions
Is this the best euc with around 16 inch wheel size with suspension for all around use (commuting + light off road)? If not, which similar size wheels are better for general purpose?
As of right now, yes I believe so. Unless weight and price are considerations, the T4 is a lighter and cheaper package that will also get the job done
Cheaper option is the Begode T4 or the Inmotion V11.
Great review!
Thanks!
FYI sound issues around 9:47 and later on around 11:28
Yeah, it was missed somehow. But TH-cam doesn't allow fixing. I'm looking to adding captions there somehow
I have added the subtitles to those two gaps!
The toe pads and front and rear bumpers get in the way
Dang! "Skinny" is gorgeous!!! She needs to know this if she doesn't already.
Thank you for the video! I have the patton and I enjoy it so much but I get loud alarms when I brake hard on full battery, do you know why? And do I need to be concerned about braking cut out? Thank you
This is the new protection of high SOC braking to prevent capacitor blowing
Very nice constructive criticisms and I plan on getting the Patton myself but 3rd batch. By then, I hope LK make the front handle higher, make the toe piece wider, have a better shape of the front bumper for better adjustability to workaround that screw head, and maybe have better headlights. And I’m not going to hold my breath but maybe they can improve on the Patton. But if they don’t, it probably won’t matter since I’m not into doing long stairs or big jumps. But looks like the 66lb suspension is the way to go, so thx for the review!
The headlight.. has been a staple for LK since the Sherman hahaha. Honestly tho, all the cons can be overlooked because of the performance
This being the wet coast I sure wish someone would test wheels in the rain over at least 3 months, remember these are expensive.
It’s hard to long term review so many wheels - since one person can only ride one. You’d need a full team of reviewers and each person can do a 6 month review.
Hi I’m a 130 pound man and I pre ordered the 58 pound suspension because it recommends it’s for [
I would recommend heavier for sure. But that's our personal opinion
Also, it really depends on the type of riding you do. If you're going to use the wheel mainly for commuting , then the suspension should be okay for you.
I think I was still recommend the 62 lb though
@@2cells1pack Thank you for the quick reply! Did you me you "will still recommend the 62 lb" for my weight class, over the 66? I believe you had a typo
Also, I'm considering switching to street tires since most of my riding is on paved roads. but all the review i see are with knobby patton tires. Do you think street tires would work well on the Patton or does that go against it's design as "an ideal off roading EUC"
First ! Thanks for this excellent review
Thanks for watching. Hopefully it's insightful. First review - so it was a little messsy
I'm shocked the highest weighted spring they have isn't even good for a light weight person. Did LeaperKim seriously not test the wheel at all in any real world conditions? Appreciate the review!
I think people in asia are smaller build compared to those in north america haha.
So she (weighing < 100 lbs) bottoms out on the 62 lb shocks. The question i have is, Does He (240 lbs) ever bottom out on the 66 lb Shocks?
Yes. I did many times. - Albert
Are these shocks proprietary to the Patton? I’m wondering if the company that makes the shocks might also make a stiffer version that you could swap out.
They are i believe.
Great review btw! I cannot believe that they fixed such minor problems compared to the other huge problems that exist on the pre-production wheel..a small stamp and half centimeter of rubber...wow.why didn't they fix the charge port locations? Better spiked pedals? What were they thinking?
Haha baby steps. The toe pad is a good change. Affects rideability more than meets the eye
Great review. Where are those awesome trails?
These trails are in Burnaby, BC. We will have a trail review series coming soon also :)
This was awesome. Please do the same for the s22 pro
If we get our hands on one, we will definitely do it.
Can you hear the beeps with the helmet on? Or are they also very quiet like inmotion wheels
Beeps are pretty good. It beeps around 65kph, so not super crazy amounts of wind noise
Would you ever do a video comparing braking, speed and all that to the different v12’s?
The Patton is on a whole different performance level compared to the V12. Night and day.
Bottoming out at a rider weight of
Yeah, we mentioned that compression dampening could solve the bottoming out - however i feel it's a bandaid solution.
Isn't this where stiffening up the compression setting come into play?
yes it does - but i like to have the spring properly match first. Then fine tune with dampening
@@2cells1packGreat thinking ...but if that's all we have to work with, does it get the job done? For the average rider?
Yes, if you're not doing any big drops you'll be fine.
I thinking about picking up a 62lb version of the Patton. I weigh roughly 150 with gear on. You think that'll be too soft and cause bottoming out? I do mostly street riding and rarely offroad of do stairs.
If you’re doing mainly street riding with a couple of steps, you should be ok with 62lb
Great review! Do you think they'll come out with a heavier weight shock I'm a heavier rider also at around 265lb and don't want to beat up or destroy the suspension.
I hope so 🤞
Good review 👍
Thanks! 👍
Is the new Patton S a better buy?
Yeah, it’s a slightly improved Patton. Lighter weight, progressive springs. Nothing mind blowing tho - if you already own a Patton - I’m not sure I’d upgrade
Bonjour,
Deux petites questions :
Avez vous aussi touchè le fond avec le 66lbs , Christine a t'elle touché ?
Pour 80% de off road , devrais je me tourner au final pour un S22 pro ?
Je pese 76kg
Goob job for this test 😊
If you want to do heavy trails/drops, i would suggest the S22Pro... only looking at the suspension. If you look at torque, the Patton wins hands down.
@@2cells1pack thx 👍
Whats the point of freespin speed?
It provides a rough estimate as to how fast the wheel can go.
Aqui no Brasil são 18:30 mas gostaria de comprar esse capacete feminino pra minha esposa depois vcs me diz qual a marca ok obrigado.
That’s the TSG The Pass Pro. However that helmet is only good for low speed riding, if your wife rides over 35kph, then it’s better to get a helmet with ECE rating.
Did you measure the S22 and Patton? Reason I ask is the S22 is the widest wheel i've ever ridden or owned its 2.5" wider than a master and T4...
No, I didn't measure them unfortunately.
@@2cells1pack So then would you say you are 100% certain its wider? I will measure my S22 (unfortunately I did not get a Patton) so I can compare.
I would say it feels wider. I can't say 100% certain since i didn't measure them.
My KS16S is still only sweeet 18Kg :D
Wheels definitely got heavier in the last couple years
it hurts my calves, why is the edge so sharp??
it needs a handle that runs down the middle, hard to go shopping with
Yeah, can always get those ergonomic fillers
Maybe throw up some on screen subtitles for those audio cut-outs?
Ah! Let me figure that out. I'm new to this :(!
Nice bud kristine
i JUST PURCHASED A EX30 AND i AM A BIG (TALL AND HEAVY 270LBS @ 6'4) How much torque'er would you say this wheel is than the ex30? Thank you and you 2 have a GREAT SHOW
The EX30, commander Mini, extreme are all wheels I would like to test. Just waiting to get my hands on one
@@2cells1pack OH sry, I thought I saw you in a video with another guy (on his channel) maybe electric dreams? So I assumed u tested it ... thanks mate good to know. Keep up the nice format of your videos!
Great video... but please fix Skinny's audio!!
TH-cam doesn't allow me to fix it... The only thing they allow is adding subtitles
🔥
Another good vid. Get a microphone for your wife is my only criticism.
She does have a mic! We both do.
@@2cells1pack there were a couple of points during the vid when I couldn't hear her.
interesting. let me take a look
The first occurrence was at 9:48
And again at 11:32.
@@thechumpsbeendumped.7797 I must have screwed up the editing and missed it.
i'm 130lbs, would the 66lb be too stiff?
It really depends on what you want to do with it. The type of riding
@@2cells1pack 90% street and occasional stairs and small drops
@@EDnesss the 62lb would be good for you I believe.
@@2cells1pack gotcha...Christine bottoming out on the 62lb does worry me tho. Might just get the 66lb lol
@@EDnesss yeah, only if you're doing more than a couple steps or bigger drops.
5:50
Christine needs to stay away from stairs when she ride xD
Hahaha 🤣 have to tackle your fears to improve
They could have left the pads they used on Sherman just so we could use the brake pad
The upgraded stock pads are pretty good 👍
Nice job.
Thanks !
omg. the trolley handle is literally like the S22 but positioned at the back meaning it sucks as well!
It is much better than the S22. Not 18xl level, but very good
Gooood informative content. Baaaad clickbaity screen.
It’s quite sad when we limited by the suspension 😔
-Xtine
How tall is the lady...looks wide
Christine is 5'3"
your cover image really scared me😅
haha sorryyy.. but we were disappointed by the suspension softness.
But thumbs down because of the fact that it could've been a really good trail wheel if only the suspension could keep up.
just so close to riding perfection.
Très bien,merci!
je t'en prie
I have the Sherman S and on monday I receive Patton! J'ai hâte
Wow! One Lucky Rider !
@@2cells1pack juste déçu du port de charge. Déjà que je le trouve difficile d'accès sur la S! Là ça a l'air catastrophique avec des grosses mains ....

8/10 from both of you yet disappointed? very mixed message here
If you watch our first impressions, it took our breath away. Then it disappointed us and brought us back to reality
Great review. I'm sure all the other reviewers are jealous of your self-balancing crash test dummy.
Maybe it's time to do a " how to ride downstairs video" I can teach her at the same time as teaching everyone
Dont like the thumbnail.
你们在中国吗?😂 Are those things allowed there?
I'm pretty sure they're allowed. I've seen many people riding them
We are in Vancouver, BC
There must be a simple way to fix this suspension...
you can technically throw a bunch of compression dampening on it. But i feel that it's not right.
S22 with open sliders system cant compare to this. Yes S22 jumping higher, harder, but sliders rollers broke every few hunderds of kms...
I think all suspension wheels need love (in terms of maintenance) there's no maintenance free suspension wheel ever.
Your channel must be geared towards those not in the US. All your numbers were in KPH.
I’m in Canada.
Hi :)
Hi :)
Thumbnail doesn’t match the the video results.
We were disappointed in the long term review because of the high hopes that we got from the first impressions.
Clickbait
How dare you say the Patton looks cute, I'm so offended!!
Sorry. Wasn't meant to be offensive.
8/10 is disappointing?
Too bad about the charge ports and bottoming out, but unless you're Mike Leahy, seems like à wheel for everyone.
Disappointing doesn't mean that to me. I did click on the video faster because of it, but I still don't like misleading 👎
We had very high hopes for the wheel after our first impressions when we fell in love with it. That's why it was disappointing.
The wheel was so close to being a 9-9.5/10.
I get it, but consider that for the viewer, it sounds as though you don't recommend the wheel. Saying you give it 8/10 but that you were still disappointed is very different from putting it on the video thumbnail along with a frown. You do you, but from my point of view it seemed confusing. Just my 2¢.
Stop using free spin as a value. Instant incredibility.
Otherwise detailed review.
I put it there because people like to see the "specs" but didn't dwell on it much. I prefer using the top speed at first beep.
Why are you going 75 km/h??? Completely illegal speed for an ebike...you must have a license plate and is registered...
Thank you for your feedback.
Settle down Karen. Live and let live.
Click bait. They loved the Patton. Thumbs down 👎 for this video
We loved it. But were let down by the suspension. Disappointment comes from high expectations of first impressions
it junk
Eucs have gotten faster but they've also gotten far too heavy.. quality is horrible, suspension is worthless... I trust my Street motorcycle at speeds over 100 mph but I can't trust EUCs at 40...lame
