Thank you for doing this… to love IU is to love her her as a person, her journey and struggle … no wonder she is the idol of idols for all generations in Korea
That’s why explanation videos like this exist. There are so many songs that we might not have the context to interpret correctly, but there are people (DKDKTV and also Bookish Theories, which they mentioned, and is my favorite explanation channel) that are willing to explain it to us. It always leaves me feeling greater respect for the artist and the attention they pay to the smallest details.
There are lots of reason to like, or even love IU. However, her lasting popularity represents far more than the temporary infatuation with a famous celebrity, or streak of entertaining pop products of her craft. One would find artistic creativity, assiduous effort, and intellectual honesty behind her work, be it her music or acting. The astounding details one would find in the Eight MV is hardly an exception among her released songs. IU's artistry is manifested in all facets of her work, including the composition, lyrics and production. One learns never to underappreciate IU's work.
The confusion on who is who in the is understandable. I heard IU was dressed by Sulli's stylist for the video, had padded herself out and appears to be playing the role of Sulli in her memories. I remember being struck by one shot in particular. It appeared to be a recreation of a well known Sulli instagram photo
IU collaborated with Suga on his song People pt2 if you want to chevk out that mv. She is not in the mv just the vocals she also sang it live on her show with him when she interviewed him.
Now you can watch AgustD - People pt.2 ft. IU and IU's Palette show with Suga as a guest. They sing these two songs together in this show and also Suga sings song People (pt.1). You can watch lyric video for it too. It is very beautiful and insightful song. J-Hope also was on IU's Palette while promoting his Jack in the Box album last year.
Suli and Hara's passing effects me so much to this day. So I can't imagine how their close friends and Family cope. IU really lost 3 of her closes friends in such a short period of time. But also don't beat yourself up to much because with this one it would be hard to know any of this if if you didn't know the people involved.
We really don't mind if you're bad at interpreting lyrics. You've been upfront and honest about it and when we let you know that it's important for you to look at and understand the lyrics and you actually take the step of watching an explanation video, then that's really all that we can ask. You're human and we don't expect you to know everything but we very much appreciate your willingness to learn.
New follower. Heard the accent and had to. Enjoying your reactions. Thank you for sharing this. I adore this song but didn't know the explanation. So beautiful and sad. And yes, you're not alone in your crush. Huge girl crush here :) Also...... are you in a little cwtch there filming?
I do enjoy more the song and the MV once I understood the meaning behind I really like the explanatory videos on that TH-cam channel... don't think that we are all very good at understanding all the letter l and the meaning of the history of the videos... we also rely a lot on the explanatory videos... especially with BTS, sometimes the song has a meaning and the video has so many symbolisms that it is impossible for us to fully understand it without many things being clarified There are lyrics that by themselves are beautiful or very reflective or understandable but there are many others that western fans miss because we don't live in Korea and don't know the social context or sometimes the artist's personal history well... once I found out about the explanatory videos, I turn to them when a song or video interests me a little more Regards from Mexico 💜
A theory becomes fact when the facts all line up with the theory. The other theories he mentions do not match across all the metaphors symbolism and images. And no one really pushes any of those any longer. A couple other points on this video that he failed to catch or mention. One of then in the use of 2d and 3d animation. The 3d animation representing the living and the 2d representing those who have past. The narrator describes the girl in White as being carefree, so much so that she can jump off a cliff. I have always felt that he got this part wrong. Too me, she looks like she was on a mission or rushing to get somewhere. When we 1st see her she looks back over her shoulder at IU with a look of concern. To me this is telling a different story. Sulli has heard IU and her despair. She never intended this to be an outcome, so Sulli is going to make amends. She runs and slides down the hill and comes to the division between the living and the dead, the black wall. She parts it looks around and climbs through entering the living world. She jumps from the cliff because she knows Junghyun, in the form of a dragon is going to be there to carry her off to intersect with IU and Suga's plane. IU see them and smiles, knowing that her friends are happy and safe and she got the closure she needed to start loving again. The narrator mentioned several aspects of the title of the song, but there was one he missed. At the time of her death IU had known Sulli for 8 years. They first meet in 2011 when IU started co hosting a show with Sulli. IU had just finished filming the kdrama Hotel Del Luna in which she helped get Sulli a small part in episode 10. Now there are only 2 more versions of this song you need to watch. The acoustic version and the performance at her 2022 Golden Hour Under the Orange Sun concert. Her MV BBIBBI is even more complex than this song. And the explanation video by Tor1se is by far the best and most detailed in the explanation of the use and meaning of colors.
It's okay, we just as ming blown as you were when we first saw this video. They all made sense! Can't spell genius without iu. Strawberry Moon is another song worth checking out 😊

Such a beautiful tribute to Sulli, Hara and Jonghyun ❤

I’m walking in puddles every time I think of IU.
Watch her running man episodes. She is adorable and amazing

she is a genius
This was really a good explanation of the song. I don’t know Suli and Hara, but Jonghyun was a Shinee member.
