  • The National Mall is one of the treasures of Washington DC. This park land in the heart of the city is home to monuments to some of our country's great leaders and veterans. If you haven't been, you need to add this to your travel bucket list!

We went in 2012, we spent the day in the area so that we could see all the monuments both in daylight, then at night when they were all lit up, it was amazing :)

@@travelingtipps Yes they do & if you can get a 'pedi-cab', it's worth it, such a fun way to see the city & at night, wow, very much worth it :)

Thanks for an excellent touring job on this special Capital City.
A foreign visitor once told me that WDC is like Paris where one can see and do many things for free.
I'm only two short bus rides away from WDC, yet I haven't gotten a chance to see everything.
A friend suggested me for a free tour of The Library of Congress where interior decors are delicately beautiful.
I truly enjoyed your sharing info. on this YT clip. 👍✌️🕊️🙂

    What’s still closed?

The Washington monument observation deck is still closed but the other monuments and memorials are open. Most of the Smithsonian museums have reopened too!

Correction: FDR died in office April 1945 before the surrender of Germany in May of 1945, and long before Japan surrendered in Aug of 1945.
