City of Seattle faces allegations of not complying with its own wage ordinance

- Is the City of Seattle violating its own wage theft ordinance? That’s the allegation from at least one union leader while the city admits is struggling to transition to a new payroll system that has shorted employee paychecks.
More than one city employee told KOMO News by phone that they haven’t received full pay, or back pay, since the City transitioned to the new workday payroll system in September.
Many employees have agreed to new labor deals that included large retroactive payments that still haven’t come through. A woman, who fears retribution, said she is owed $22,000 in back pay and that the ordeal has caused her great financial strain.

So because of someone's incompetence the taxpayers will have to pay more. People need fired over this.

Those laws are not meant for the city nor its politicians. They are aimed at the greedy corporations and business owners who don't want to pay a fair living wage.

@@p51bombay he still said its targeted at Private Employers. City and Government cannot be held to the same standards since there is no motivation of profit involved. Also city/employees is/are exempt from lawsuits in the normal course of business.

It's a shame what happened out West. I was out there in the early 80s. From Seattle to Portland to San Fran. All down the PCH. Low crime, nice people, lovely views. The only problem I had was it was more expensive than the East. It was always fun though. This changed drastically in the 90s & today, it's just a total hellhole. I'll stay in small Town America in the Eastern US. We have no insanity. No WOKE, not insane politics either way. I'm sure most are MAGA around here but they don't bother anyone. I don't vote anymore & I never talk politics, sex or religion out in public. Never have. That's how you live the right way out in public.

@@calvinsplan4774 The average profit margin is 7.1%. I'd love to see employers give up that profit to put towards wages. That way the employers wouldn't have any more money for expansion to hire more employees, no money to improve their facilities, and no money for employee raises in the future.
