just found this on aliexpress prior to finding this video - a nice coincidence haha. i really like these kind of low cost, shitty chinese radios so i am going to order one. i love the fake retro design on it, it's super kitsch
Ha Ha, you made me smile 🙂 you have a similar taste to myself. Curiosity gets the better of me and I wonder is it a hidden gem on the inside in terms of performance or is it indeed, just tat LOL. This did have a reasonable performance it was just that the manufacturers made it as cheaply as possible. Have fun!
Hi Amjad, thanks for getting in touch. For the low price of this set it’s reasonable as it employs a slightly larger loudspeaker than you tend to find on receivers on this price point. Please bear in mind though that it is a portable radio and not a boom box LOL so no pretences to hi fi with this chromed receiver
@@Hunkiralyfi Hi, its a good thought, but I think in comparison the L258 would be a clear winner. If ever you have the chance to try one (it pays to shop around to get the best price), I think you would be pleasantly surprised for a low cost radio/media player.
The use of D cell batteries is a plus in my book, they will last for a very long time. My Retekess TR629 radio uses 3 D cells, and I have done over 30 hours of radio recordings on it as well as casual listening, and it still has lots of power. The tuning reminds me a little like the Vido FM Poundland radio, it picks up the signals but have to tune very slowly. Doesn't the radio have a headphone jack?
Hi, great to hear from you and thanks for your feedback. Yes I agree, the relative the low current drain of these budget radios will give a long operating time off these D cells. However, the rechargeable AA adaptors are useful if you can find them, (mine were from Maplins Electronics but their on-line only store appears to no longer sell these - maybe AliExpress?). It’s a very sensitive set to be honest that in my opinion, just needs a couple of more dollars worth of quality improvement that would make it into a very usable set. No headphone jack I’m afraid 🙄. Thanks for getting in touch. All the best TWCG.
@@TheWobblyCameraGuy I forgot to mention the odd frequency range, 3MHz to 12MHz would mean the radio is for night time or winter listening only. Great that you mentioned the T-6621, I take mine with me in the car, and tune around when waiting around before work. It's also a good little radio to record from too.
@@radioweebdx7680 Thanks for the clarification on the limited SW frequencies - that is really interesting and will look out for this on future sets that I review - great stuff! Yep that little T-6621 is great little workhorse that is kept by my PC for when I'm editing my videos 👍
@@johnrobinson2643 Hi, many thanks for tuning in and for your feedback. These little low-cost receivers are always going to be limited in their performance, but it’s fun trying to find those little gems that punch above their weight 😃
D cells last almost forever in old-fashioned analog radios. In my kitchen I have one of those, and it was the cheapest one I could find 14 years ago. ngl, it is on it´s first set of 4 D-cells, and those are no-name alkalines. From what I understand battery chemistry had to be changed since then so nowadays batteries are much more prone to leaking. I use that radio daily for 5 to 10 minutes whilst making my breakfast. It´s on low volume because I get up really early and don´t want to disturb the neighbours in my appartment block. This radio is pre-DSP, just old-fashioned analog circuitry. But 14 years on one set of batteries, that´s insane 🥳
Sound quality is surprisingly good. Sensitivity and selectivity is normal. But tuning on short wave is near impossible. I'm sorry for it, because otherwise this would be a good radio and it's also cheap (about 11 Euros including shipping).
Hi, many thanks for sharing your thoughts. It clearly is a radio that has been built to a price but a reasonable sized speaker helps to lift it a little and yes SW is not exactly the best. You got it for a very good price so well done 👍

How is the quality of the sound, if it is good, I will take it

BTW - may I suggest that you take a look at the L-258 multi-band receiver - v. good sound for its size and has a digital display for a similar price✔
@@TheWobblyCameraGuy It would be good a similar demonstration about L-258, too.

Merry Christmas have a good one.
Hi, that's really thoughtful, thankyou. Have a great Christmas!
Those many stations around 5 MHz were images of higher meter bands. In this case I suppose they were images of the 19m.
Hi, thanks taking the time to get in touch and for your feedback and observations - interesting stuff.
