I was looking forward to Blood Angels! What is this heretic Xenos playthrough? Okay, jokes aside, there's a cool new feature in the initial Supremacy settings which lets you battle "allied factions." I'm enjoying shooting at the Sisters on neutral tiles with my Space Marines, for example. Some of the other options can be a fun challenge, too, like my favorite is to set the neutral factions point total up by a LOT. It makes taking initial tiles much more of a fight, and my early campaign was nearly in peril at one point. I love that type of challenge!

it;s really annoying having to unlock the venomthropes to get to deathspitters, especially since they probably aren't worth taking unless you have both abilities (which you won't be able to unlock till later as they both cost a lot and there's more important stuff)
I'm just having my fierst game of Nids, so I came to here to see if I could loearn about what upgrades to take and which units are good.
I put myself against Orks and Necrons though, so might have set a challenge in that regard. They're both long range armies and I think they probably both require different, optimal damage types. I'm not sure on this TBH, but I assume that Necrons won't like acid damage and Orks probably won't like the Viral stuff. Is there some cross over though? I would think with both armies being long range though, that if I build into a more up and close style army, I could circumvent their strongest stuff.
I really wish there were some up to date guides on this game, as would be great to get some info to help inform what to pick. I get obsessive over RPG/tree-stuff and find if I just take in info from others that have played it, it helps me out a lot in digesting all the information.
