People often find that pain and laughter go hand in hand.
That was certainly the case on day two barefoot on the trail when I struggled for 6.5 miles and over 1.7k altitude gain. No cold water to swim in today, but the weather did the trick with low 40s and high wind blowing me around. Hiking while questioning life decisions, visiting pieces of history, and somehow still laughing-perhaps more than usual, helped me reconnect with why we do these things and be a silly goose in the process. Resilience often comes with a sense of humor, which is why the stupid dance i did is technically making me a better person. Right?
The next and final video on the trail will explore stamps, the idea of pilgrimage, and why the heck we do these things to ourselves
    0:00 dang it
    0:21 day two specs
1:18 why did I do this voiceover? weirdo
1:30 Oji Shrines and 'chizo died here!'
    2:28 the struggle begins
3:33 why do we do this?
    4:48 kashiwade
    5:19 perspective shift
6:05 I may have been loopy
    6:40 definitely. fun times

Have you taught yourself to turn the pain on your soles into pleasure?

There are a number of people who experimented barefooting ended up becoming fulltime barefooters. Te simple reason is that irresistible feeling of various textures of soil between the toes. What made you adopt barefoot lifestyle ?? Health Benefits ? or that feeling ??

Idk about the textures, for me it’s really been about simplicity. Being from Hawaii we’re barefoot a lot anyway, so when I started doing primitive survival it became a natural evolution

Do you go barefoot a lot? Can you usually walk on gravel?

Yup since I was a kid. Not u common in Hawaii. But as an adult it takes a little more intention and training, especially for stuff like this or naked and afraid
