"At the foot of Mt. Fuji, there are five iconic lakes that are widely known as the “Fuji Five Lakes” and have held a great place of admiration by the Japanese since ancient times. Originally formed by lava offshoots from the eruption of Mt. Fuji, these beautiful lakes have fascinated visitors for centuries with their stunning scenery.
What you can find there is not only crystal-clear waters but also a wide range of activities and memorable experiences. From major railway stations in Tokyo, there are regular highway bus services to the Mt. Fuji area, making them an ideal day trip or weekend destination from Tokyo.
The Fuji Five Lakes, or Fujigoko in Japanese, is a collection of five different lakes at the base of the Mt. Fuji area. These lakes are spread out through Yamanashi prefecture and are each unique in their own way. The five lakes are Lake Kawaguchi, Lake Sai, Lake Yamanaka, Lake Shoji, and Lake Motosu. From each lake you will have a stunning yet different view of the beautiful Mt. Fuji, making it feel like it is almost a different mountain each time. They are all designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites and are a great way to experience some of the nature that Japan has to offer."

"The Fuji Five Lakes are found at the northern base of Mount Fuji and are a region of amazing beauty and wilderness. Here you can get some of the best views of Mount Fuji available at any time of year.
A visit to the Fuji Five Lakes offers not just the lakes and various outdoor activities, but an opportunity to enjoy amusement parks, resorts, and some of the unique local culture that has grown around these five marvelous lakes. It’s an incredible trip for visitors of any age and is a must if you are visiting central Japan.
For those seeking to scale Mount Fuji, this area is a great place to set out from. For the slightly less adventurous, be sure to visit the area’s amazing theme park Fuji-Q Highland at the base of the mountain, which features some of the most thrilling roller coasters in the world, including a few record-holders. Families and those looking for more peaceful experiences will find plenty to do as well, from outdoor hikes to water sports to museums.
Because of the distance between the different lakes, some are more accessible than others, especially for public transportation. Every lake offers something unique in its views and the experiences you can find there."

"The town of Hakone is situated in western Kanagawa Prefecture, and is part of Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park . It is famous both inside and outside of Japan as a resort area brimming with natural hot springs of the highest quality, and for its stunning views of Mt Fuji.
Hakone is made up of seven hot spring resorts, one of which is Miyanoshita, which began operating in the Edo period (1603-1867). Miyanoshita's Fujiya Hotel opened in 1878 to attract foreign visitors, thus increasing the popularity of the area. Many well-known celebrities, including John Lennon, have stayed at this hotel over the years. Like Hakone's other hot spring towns, the retro atmosphere of the town works in its favor."
