Yeah Peter Parker. Mr. Power and Responsibility, who has gone through countless cloning and alternate dimension shenanigans, just attacks a non-threatening super hero because he's slightly confused. This is probably the thinnest excuse for a hero vs hero fight I've ever seen.

Sorry have you never read the Clone Saga? Or the 2nd Clone Saga? Or met Mysterio? Or any story that has Peter's identity revealed?? Nevermind that this is a SMALL part of the overall story which has Peter being teleported to the Ultimate universe in which HE IS DEAD. It makes perfect sense that he is on edge, he is also clearly still holding back a tonne or that kick would have put Miles down instantly.

I don’t know, I think the alternate universe spiderman encounters would give him some barring on the situation. Though he has admittedly had a lot of rough history with impostor symbiotes, and evil clones. Still, did peter really think webbing miles up or whatever would make him more open to talk? I don’t get the train of thought.
I can definitely see miles being able to catch peter off guard with that venom sting, but his spider-sense should have warned him when miles went invisible

I think spider related people and symbiotes he has bonded with don't trigger the spider sense

Spider Sense doesnt trigger just because people are near him. Miles isnt a threat and he isnt trying to hurt Pete so its highly likely that he wouldnt trigger. This is actually a trick that Kraven the Hunter has used against him, his Spidey Sense can be tricked.

yeah. one of the worst written narratives. peter is completely out of character. i mean he initiates the combat, against a kid who is making zero threatening moves, and is also being polite and throwing in a bit of hero worship and going no attempt to escape. So why the eff is peter trying to web him and then follows up with a kick?? then later kicks the kid off a building. then later breaks his own no masking 'no-no'. the writing is complete trash. which is a far worse sin than the usual inconsistent use of spider sense.

And they made Peter be the aggressor because the writer of this story made Miles and he wanted his character to be the morally superior one.

This is just BAD. Poorly written, lame execution, and the fact that Miles Morales is a ringer at best? Gratuitous is the word we're looking for, here, I think.
Especially with how much experience peter has with electro, the venom sting shouldn't have been as crippling

Stingers, night vision, 360 vision, his whole body could stick, he increased strength from 10 to 25 tons. Increased everything, speed, agility, reflexes.
And then they took it all away via brand new day.
I always loved the organic webs. It makes sense.
Stan Lee had given Peter organic webbing, but the publisher Martin Goodnan was like look, he's a teenager, he can't have sticky hands sticky fingers, (it's the 60s) wall crawling was enough,
so a 15-16 yr old somehow created webbing some time after.

Im glad peter has mechanical webs. Pretty sure that was stans vision for him in the 1st place. A super smart kid that uses tech and adapts it to meet the challenges he faces, but money problems can effect his superhero life just as much as his personal one. Which fits the idea stan wanted Peter to have normal problems.

Venom blast hits your nervous system its not actually electricity
@@Everydayartist12 my understand was that it was bio-electricity in nature. Any form of electricity disrupts your nervous system. It even travels through the webbing, so it's still electricity. Electro would do even worse damage to the nervous system and Peter can still manage it without gloves or a special suit. If miles held onto his face and kept a constant venom strike, I could see it, but one or two strikes, and a big blast that is probably weaker for having to travel through the web first? Stun the hell out of him sure, but a k.o.?

For those who are interested, the context of this fight occurs one night that Peter was just swinging by the city, then a purple lightning is seen and he goes to check.
In a building he founds a Portal and while he is analyzing the thing Mysterio attacks, you can assume that he created the portal but Peter dosen't understand, the portal is damaged and Peter fells into the vortex.
Peter appears on a roof top at day, disoriented and feeling sick (due to the travel), watch the Triskelion from far away and swings to his appartement, then he founds a girl living on the site, he is surprised and even more disoriented so he leaves.
He is trying to figure out what's going on and then this video happens.

I’m more confused on how they wrote peter. Typically he’s the one that goes like, “hey come on, let’s just talk this through” in this one it seems like he was going out of his way to fight miles.

Spiderman was really the only character Bendis could write. He shouldn't have been allowed outside that box... but here we are.

First half of the series was fine, but repeated dialogue and patterns started becoming noticeable. Then he startrd adding the xmen characters who seemed to resemble teenage cliches with no personalities.

If I edited my comment to be just negative, I would have said Bendis was one of the worst writers at Marvel which is saying something when competition for bad writing was so fierce. Loeb still wins that though.

I liked this issue the first time I read it because I was so stoked to see them together... But now I realize how out of character is was for Peter and everything just falls apart throughout the dialogue and action
There is no reason why this should have been difficult for Peter. He is more experienced, stronger and a better skilled fighter than Miles at this point. He should've easily taken him down.

There's a simple answer
for this. Miles has power that no other Spider-Man has. So, it's was a big surprise for Peter Parker fighting a Spider-Man that has electro and invisible power. We can consider this as a surprise shot, and that's why Miles won. Plus, Miles knew what Peter Parker's Spider-Man could because there was a Peter Parker in his universe

For anyone upset that Peter got knocked out, he was really confused and at the same time not sure if Miles was a threat or not. His Spidey-sense was probably going off like crazy at times, but he still has to be able to interpret what is and isn't a threat and react accordingly. My guy was just off balance.

The Spidey Sense is only triggered when there is nearby danger, or an enemy. As Peter didn't see Miles as an enemy yet, the Sense got a bit clouded and muddled, negating the fact that Peter can dodge Electro's lightning blasts. That is why the "venom sting" was able to hit Peter.

I always hated this issue because Peter felt so out of character.
I think Peter's spider Sense would have warned him about the venom sting both times. Miles may have caught him the first time, but even so, Peter should have been able to shake it off way faster than he did. While it *was* a good sequence, it seemed like they'd made Peter the jobber in this fight.
ehhhh, that's not entirely true. The spider sense can sometimes not work if Peter doesn't believe he's in danger, and even if it does Peter's body doesn't automatically move, it's still up to Peter to interpret the warning.
I thought peter was playing possum the first time around and recovered rather quick.

I love Miles, but this is the HEIGHT OF BULLSHIT. Peter has decades on this miles from just experience, has faced cosmic threats, taken hits from major powerhouses, and he gets knocked out not once, but twice?? He's taken shocks from Electro, Shocker, and not gotten taze-slept. This just reeks of agenda, and again, I love Miles, and can't wait to see him in the MCU too, but to have him basically own Peter?? This is yet again another means from Marvel's woke agenda to replace legendary legacy characters with female and non-white versions. I absolutely support the need to a more diverse and inclusive comics environment, but Thor, Wolverine, Ironman, Captain America, etc etc. There soooo many great characters that are women and/or people of color that can be brought to the forefront and highlighted. There's no reason for this kind of nonsense. If they want to introduce characters new characters, or new versions, at least show some respect to the characters that paved the way, not just for the character concepts, but for comics in general. There needs to be a way to achieve both, and it can be, with good writing. This was pitiful writing.

Really don't like this fight, doesn't make much sense. Spiderman wouldn't try to unmask another hero like that, but try and talk to them to get answers, not start swinging on them. Yeah he has dealt with clones before so maybe he would be more on the defensive, but even then he isn't going to attack someone he doesn't even know who hasn't threatened him in any way. Also, electro uses major amounts of electricity on spiderman and Pete still gets back up, so how can bioelectricity work on him that badly? Yeah, bio electricity attacks the nervous system, but so does all electricity. In fact, raw electricity is way more lethal than bioelectricity.

Except that Peter's way superior to Miles in every ability they have, Miles only has more powers than him, but that's it. Peter outdones him in all of the others abilities and physical attributes they share.

Miles has to make up for being inferior to Peter in all of those attributes by having two extra powers, but it still wouldn't be nearly as enough for him to win against Peter, since Peter can simply counter his bioelectricity by creating or using something because he's a genius, and Miles' camouflage would be useless against him, since Peter can simply avoid it everytime because of his superior spider-sense.
Always disliked miles Morales and all the other washed up tokenized character's, Miles is better than the rest like that black girl that took over as iron man or Jane foster the imposter or Amadeus cho, But miles is just another version of Peter Parker. Marvel is all about identity politics these day's yet they won't use Blue Marvel an actual interesting character or monica and when they do use them they are sidelined by the same old character's. They'd rather make the Fruity warriors instead of giving character's that are barely used a chance.

This was bound to happen. Peter went from being the best but with time that power shift will go to Miles, then in a decade or 2 it will go to some new character. It's called recycling
This story is a couple of years old and came out way before miles was considered to be super mainstream (he was mainstream but not as popular as he is now)

Okay, I've read through a bunch of the comments, and I've listed the reasons I've heard fans say this fight was good.
The spider-sense: two things.
The sense doesn't work on other spider people.
Two the sense doesn't actually tell him about movement in the air or whatever, we've seen it work in space. It actually reads the future and tells Peter about threats to his person. I.E. a person can attack him without being a threat or seriously harming him in the future. It's hard for a villian to do that without planning to, but heroes do it with surprising regularity.
The sting working on Peter: it apparently isn't normal electricity, it's some form of electricity specificly made to stun. I'm not sure about the specifics, but I do know that what matters with electricity is more how it is applied than the power of it. To an extent, at least.
Miles actually standing a chance against Peter, who is both an adult with the same or similar powers, and a super hero veteran with decades more exp:
Peter was holding back. This only meant tha Miles had a chance to surprise him, which is what happened.
He was also off his game, he went through a portal that funked up his mojo, so to speak.
Peter being way out of character:
Yeah, I'll give people that. Both Peter unmasking Miles and with him attacking first.
Even with him never fighting to actually injure, Peter is never the one to attack first, unless you're in the process of commiting a crime.
Even then, he leads with a webshot that disarms the target. Granted, Peter *did* do that, but Miles wasn't commiting a crime, hell, he wasn't even the first person to say Peter's name. Which takes away any validity of saying Peter just overreacted.
I try not to let that affect me though, with so many different writers taking a crack at the characters, and so much content being cranked out...
I don't have it in me to use a little inconsistent writing make something that clearly had so much effort put into it be labeled 'lazy and horrific'.

Crazy comic idea, the superhero finds themselves in this situation and instead of being confused and lashing out they just remember the movies and are like "ohhhhh I'm dead in this universe..."
We all agree that Peter beats Miles in a normal fight. Peter was sick, disoriented and in a panic during this fight. He wasn't at his best, so Miles was able to catch him off guard.
In a real fight Peter should win this pretty easily even though Miles has some extra powers.

Why don’t they just give Miles x-ray vision, heat vision, telepathy, telekinesis, cold breath, invulnerability, immortality, flight, laser beams, teleportation, time manipulation, too? Why stop at all the ones he has? Why not give him a cape, and an S symbol on his chest?

Ultimate Peter was confirmed to be after he came back and Miles has the exact same powers as him plus the invisibility and venom blast so while it hasn't been confirmed he very well could have immortality.
@@hpos1086 He certainly needs more. I say we add adamantium bones, claws, healing factor, too. And magic! He also needs ability to walk through objects, control matter, breathe fire, speak to animals, etc. He clearly is underpowered.

He also had the Ultimate Nullifier and Heart of the Universe. I mean, if we’re going to do a minority or female version of a beloved character they HAVE to be way better.

He just had two people magically bring up Peter Parker in a row, he meets an imposter with all his powers, remember venom? A villain with all his powers?, Ben Riley?, Less of a villain but still. When Peter Parker meets another spider figure it usually doesn't end well. Not to mention this mysterious figure with all his powers knows his identity. You'd be freaked the fuck out period. And when people are freaked out they do out-of-character things.
Miles has way more tricks up his sleeve but I prefer Peter porker
Also, Peter has a way stronger spider sense than Miles.

@@HaloGuy5667 no, Peter has a stronger connection to the Web of Life, which gives them the spider sense. Peter literally has a way stronger spider sense. Whereas Miles has more powers and actual organic webbing and artificial webs. Peter has more experience than Miles and a stronger spider sense.
Moon spiders got a special place in my hear amongst the alt spider heroes. Spiders-mans also pretty fun pfft.

The most powerful feat of Miles’ spider sense is dreaming of Parker’s death, then waking up to find out that Peter died. Whereas Peter literally has that ability all the time and can even use it further to predict things.
Peter is more experienced and has a stronger Spidey sense. I love all the spider men but results between the two would likely favor Peter more times than not. Miles is capable though so I could see him getting the W sometimes.
