FYI, something that a lot of people don't know about this video, is that this is not a music video. This is actually a live music video from their very first concert. This is just a great example of how humble their beginning was. They weren't expected to actually succeed. No real budget for costumes, obviously no budget for a live backing band as they wouldn't even had fit on such a tiny stage. Plenty of people just think that they had backing right from the start and didn't have to start from the bottom. Not many people would have believed you when they first formed that they would still be going over 10 years later into the biggest metal band in the country and popular all over the world.
Uki Uki Midnight is one of the old school classic kawaii Babymetal songs. It hasn't been played live since 2017, but Momometal did mention in a recent interview that she would like to perform it, so we are hoping they might play it at Legend MM in March. Check out "From Dusk Til Dawn", it's pretty diffferent and features Su doing falsetto vocals. The live performance at 10 Babymetal Budokan is awesome.
⚡ 💀 💕 / 🕛 My favorite part of 'Uki Uki ★ Midnight' is when Yui and Moa fly around Su like little fairies while she's dreaming. IMO, one of their most underrated songs. Personally, I don't find the transitions jarring at all. There's a connection between 'Uki Uki ★ Midnight' and 'Doki Doki ☆ Morning'. Both are stylized with a star in the song title. They're both "slice of life" songs; one daytime and one nighttime. Moa's fondness for "old man snacks" like dried squid is referenced in the 'Uki Uki ★ Midnight' lyrics. When she was in Sakura Gakuin, she helped create the unofficial "Koyaji Club". "ko"= young/little. "oyaji" = old man. The idea of this club was to enjoy "old man snacks" like dried squid. They replaced the saki and beer with ginger ale though. : ) The songwriters were probably referring to an incident where the BABYMETAL members spread out candy on the bed after one of their early shows. Moa brought snacks like dried squid. It was something the three members talked about in an early radio interview.
I love watching vids of their early early shows... where you literally can touch the stage... small crowd compared to their crazy mega shows now, but they still had the crowd lit and jammin'. Closing time, go home NO WAY!😁😁🤘🦊🤘
👍 BABYMETAL is timeless. Joy/Happiness never goes out of style. This is the first time I have seen this performance. Well done. "rather jarring", welcome to BABYMETAL. 🦊 🖖 ❤
🦊🤘🐙 Nice to see you're back with more BM songs, hope to see you tomorrow for our queen SuMetal birthday. This was released along with Headbanger!! introducing the whispering style instead of the usual growlings of metal songs along with dubstep or brostep elements. MoaMetal wanted an official MV of this song, of course the part of the lyrics talking about eating dried squid would be there because Moa love those type of snacks that is very rare for kids, is more like middle-aged men type of snacks, usually sweets and candy is what girls fancy to eat at that age. This song works as a follow up of Doki Doki Morning, they're having a private party with their besties after an exhausting school day. The official PV contains footage of the first live performance (outside of Sakura Gakuin) at Meguro Rock May Kan in 2012 and their first _legend_ in a small space and more packed with only 150 capacity, big rock and metal artists started their career in this place too, our queen and princesses following the trail of the living legends. One of the first song introducing dubstep elements, later on they even met Skrillex and he invited them to be part of one of his concerts and playing a remix version of Gimme Chocolate!! Next suggestion out of the album released: - Kimi To Anime Ga Mitai (Answer For Animation With You) live at Budokan 2014. Keep enjoying BM songs, don't try to look for your favorite song just with the first listen, a lot of fans re-discover their new BM fav songs after a couple of listen and letting the song grown on you. Kitsune up and see you next time.🦊🤘🔥
I think this song is for fans. Especially this PV is my favorite because the three girls are so cute. The venue is Rokumeikan, a small venue with only 300 people, but it is called a sacred place for metal music. This is a monumental BABYMETAL performance. I'm getting anxious for SU-METAL's birthday tomorrow.
@@autohmae I was mistakenly thinking it was 300 people since it was 600 people over two days...it was two shows in one day, right? Thanks for correcting it🙏😅🤘
Thanks to whoever suggested this! I hadn't seen this version before, but it looks like the Sukura Gakuin days. Su is 13, Yui and Moa 11? Just goes to show that these girls put their ALL into every performance whether it's 5 or 50,000!
This clip was part of a DVD limited edition included on IDZ single, the footage was taken from Legend Corset Festival at Meguro Rock May Kan in Tokyo July 2012, they held two shows in the same day (the setlist was short thou) Su-chan got 14, Yui and Moa-chan recently got 13 yo by this moment, and yup they were still on Sakura Gakuin.🦊👍
The signatures of the three girls are still on the wall of the venue. Many BabyMetal fans visit there when they travel to Japan. Happy birthday Su-metal 🎂
I've tried that. SOOO many years ago. I was on a missionary ship in the Caribbean and they were passing it around just incase it was offered to us on shore. Since it is rude to turn down gifts in many cultures it made sense to get an idea of what you may be offered. LOL! That was quite an experience when it came to the taste.

The actual LIVE performance of this song is really quite impressive. The performance at Budokan is a favorite of mine.

This was really intimate show! IIRC it was the first BM solo show, with only few hundred people admitted in!

Why do I suddenly get a craving for dried squid?
