    God i just love paying nearly a grand for a college chemistry course and learning nearly nothing but i hop onto youtube and learn more than i ever can from my professors damn slide shows.

      @Solonneysa 11 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I wonder though, if you knew you needed chemistry and felt you could learn it on your own in 10-15 weeks as in a class, why did you not just watch the online videos or read a chem book and then test out of it? There is more to paying for a class than a power point and lecture. The prof should have office hours, there are tutors available at most universities and community colleges, classmates with whom to work, email/school forums/phone numbers and a guided tour of the lessons. Not that it always justifies the prices, but you are paying for a lot more than just one person. :)

      ***** I did say "test out of it." In other words, test out of the class.

      It is possible to take appropriate tests and earn the degrees from those tests. I did not have a official high school education transcript, but was able to get into LFCC (community college) by taking their placement tests. (I was homeschooled for 4.5 years since the 7th grade, and never went to high school) Surely you could do the same for higher levels to avoid having to pay $$$. However, 3 big problems arise:
      1st, there is no curriculum for one to follow: this makes it especially hard to stay on track, and learn everything equally. Without guidance, it is easy to concentrate on the east parts, while floating through the harder parts. you really have to be responsible, and self-disciplining. You have to force yourself to learn things that are boring, and keep away from procrastination, since noone else has the power to do so. (In formal education, the grading and GPA keeps you pushing hard to do good, but that will no-longer exist in self-education)
      2nd: As +Solonneysa has mentioned, collage can give you 1 on 1 attention and tutoring. It LFCC, they even have a free tutoring service (you, of course, have to be enrolled though!) Not to mention the community of students and the professor's office hours.
      And 3rd and most obvious: studies show that only ~40% of the information online is accurate. I do not know how this was determined, but that might mean a failing 40% on a placement test.

    But I still fail to understand what makes them a first, second, or zero order.

    • @grey698

      Order of reaction is the name of the calculation method.
      Adding the powers of the experimentally calculated rate of rxn.
      But the reason why it is calculated is to make it easier and kind of tabular. It helps understand the change in the rate of rxn due to change in concentration

    chemistry is difficult because your examples look very simple but on the exams the questions and numbers are too complicated to comprehend, is it possible for you to use a bit more complex numbers?

    • @gracerihl7627
      @gracerihl7627 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +FTjack AoE7AoT yeah I need to know how to find the orders with complex numbers that you need to know how to us the natural log function (I think) in the algebra to find the final order. But i don't know how to use the natural log...

      @Kidchipy 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +FTjack AoE7AoT What level chemistry are you doing? I'm in university and find that the numbers used were very similar to the ones used in highschool, but certain concepts require knowledge of log laws and so knowing them may help you.

    Thanks Ben,but I wish you could make a tutorial of how to get the order of a reaction from the given volumes of a product and the time taken for formation,cuz I really can't figure it out.

    • @grey698
      @grey698 ปีที่แล้ว

      concentration is
      No. Of moles upon volume.
      Either no. Of moles will be given in the question or u can assume it as x.
      If percentage of reactant used is given for example.."70 percent reactant is used"
      Then initial moles will be 100 and final will be 30.(i.e. 100-70)
      So u have no. Of moles now..and...u have volume.
      So bingo now u can calculate concentration
      So use ur formula of zero first and second order.
      And place the values.
      Fr example zero order formula is
      [A]=[A°]- kt
      [A] is final concentration. (Moles/vol) [prev ex.: 30/V]
      [A°] is initial conc.[100/v]
      K= rxn const. (Given in question)
      t= time
      P.s. if moles is not given and molecular weight and mass of reactants is given. Use formula
      Moles= mass/ Molecular weight
      Have fun!

    Is there a method to predict the products of a reaction???
    Example: H2 + O2 ---> ???
    We were given lots of questions like this, some way harder than this, and there is no way for us to memorize all of them. So is there a way to figure out if it is a single displacement? or a double displacement? or a decomposition? and so on. And is there a way to find out what is the product of the equation after we knew what reaction it is???
