ya know,my lil' bro has down syndrome and his name is daniel so i actually cried during this scene because it made me think about his future and what we'll have to do with him then.
I love how Juli is the kind of person who, no matter how Daniel acts or how scary he must have been in the ice cream shop, she still is happy to be around him and loves him. She doesn't give a damn if he's normal or not, and that's one of the reasons why I like her character so much.
I watched this in my class and everyone laughed and almost yelled at all of them because what they did was so insensitive. My brother also has autism so I understood what Daniel was doing
it’s ok, they’ll probably change. I remember people laughing and making jokes about this stuff when I was in middle school and I couldn’t do anything about it. now I’m in 11th grade, people are much more respectful
I laughed at the scene when he dropped his ice cream because it was funny and I'm old enough to realize it's just a movie and that man is just an actor and not actually mental
+Mr. Animation what its sad is that he didnt birth with a mental ilness :/ when his mother was giving him birth his umbilical cord stucked on his neck strungling him without letting air reach his brains it can happen to whoever :/
I cried so much for this scene. It relates with my life. Yes I have my brother just like uncle Daniel. People think he is dumb and don’t like him but for me he’s just different and wonderful.
Maria‘s Child karma will get to him. First of all, what kind of name is Sebastian? Is this the 1800s? Anyways, he will end up having an autistic kid someday. I hope he has a kid with autism and another with OCD let’s see how that turns out.
@@schlinge-fling I mean, as much as it would torment them I feel they shouldn’t, because I’d feel bad for the kid as a autistic myself. They’re with a parent that doesn’t accept them, and that would be bad for them unless that person can change before then. It would be better if something happened to them so they’d realize their impact on being like that, or just be left alone. That feels more appropriate for someone like them.
When I first saw this movie I was in Year 7, people made fun of my brother and myself for having a brother with Autism he was a bit odd from what they were used to, so I cried because I’ve always thought of the best for him, but hearing that people would actually think like that, eventually it broke me, but I love to see characters like Daniel in TV and movies to show kids and adults about how there’s different people like Daniel, and hopefully in the future people won’t be so judgemental and bitter to my brother and people like Daniel.
I just saw this movie for the first time today and I have to say its truly amazing. This part made me feel really sad for Daniel But its still one of my favorite parts of the movie. Thanks for uploading this
Guys, please... they use different names in the book and movie. Love the movie, love the book even more.. Stop debating about david/daniel. Thank you:)
I randomly thought about this scene recently and I remember we watched it in 5th grade (I’m a sophomore in highschool now) but I just remember crying after class about this scene I don’t have any mentally disabled family that I know of but I genuinely felt bad for the characters because it’s unfortunate that people do have to live like this and I thought it was portrayed so well in this movie that I felt bad for fictional people so yeah I came here to give my take on a movie I watched like 7 years ago
Because it’s supposed to capture the time of innocence like first love and stuff. And to the director, the time of innocence for America in his opinion was lost after the assassination of j.f.Kennedy so thats why the movie is set before then. Also the director, Rob Reiner, grew up in the late 50s so he relates the innocent feeling of childhood to that time.
im disabled and i laughed because the character is played over the top goofy, im learning andcogntive di8sabled with brain damge, amnnd i spent a lot of my years around disabledf folks at various cognitive levels of f disability and while we gotsome pretty quarky people in that catagory none acted as over the top goofy like daniel
I thought Uncle Daniel was the cutest thing ever
Sophie's Life me too!!!
Same!
I wonder why everything in the movie is different from the book.
Sophia Snowball yah

We are actually the unlucky ones, these people appreciate the little things in life

Juli is so pretty. In the book I thought she would look differently.
shes sooo pretty in the movie too!
yeah
She look the prettiest when she's up in the tree and looking at the view.
Wait there's a book of this? I'm so on it now
Juli got a *six-head*
Even if "Uncle Daniel" probably isn't disabled in real life, I still feel bad for him after watching the ice cream scene
Me too for some reason
I love how Juli is the kind of person who, no matter how Daniel acts or how scary he must have been in the ice cream shop, she still is happy to be around him and loves him. She doesn't give a damn if he's normal or not, and that's one of the reasons why I like her character so much.
me too 🦋 She is a butterfly. 🧡
I love the relationship between Uncle Daniel/David and Juli's dad. It's so beautiful
I watched this in my class and everyone laughed and almost yelled at all of them because what they did was so insensitive. My brother also has autism so I understood what Daniel was doing
Mel Pasha I would laugh as well
it’s ok, they’ll probably change. I remember people laughing and making jokes about this stuff when I was in middle school and I couldn’t do anything about it. now I’m in 11th grade, people are much more respectful
gxld flower Ok but it’s everything except funny
Kids mature, they don't realise what's wrong and right yet. They'll change, if not, well that's bad
I laughed at the scene when he dropped his ice cream because it was funny and I'm old enough to realize it's just a movie and that man is just an actor and not actually mental
I really feel sad about uncle Daniel :`(
me too man :/ I saw that movie today and loved it but I felt pretty bad for daniel too :/
I want to cry right now
:(
+Mr. Animation i understand you :/ that part of the movi is sad but sweet at the same time

My little brother has autism and he does the same when he drops his ice cream
Something that works well is having them eat is above a bowl (you probably read that in a disrespectful voice)
My Uncle too shares the same story. And my father loves him dearly. I cried so hard in this scene. 😭
I feel really bad for uncle Daniel even it is just a sence and Bryce's dad is making fun of him ugh
I honestly liked all the family members in the book and movie but I could not stand Bryce’s dad! He was just mean and horrid!!
This makes me cry because it reminds me of my brother 😔
haha that's hilarious
same :(((
Sebastian Bird uhm excuse you? These people have brothers with mental problems and u think its hilarious?i mean who knows what if that happened to u?

Daniel’s acting is absolutely spectacular ♥️

Just watched this film and this is one of the scenes that made me cry. Such a good movie❤

uncle Daniel is actually the cutest thing i can't
He's so precious 🥺💗 I have an autistic brother as well so this reminded me of him.
Let’s sign a pact,
If anyone attacks uncle Daniel,
We make sure those insides are visible from the outside shall we
Poor Daniel ❤️ I feel so bad he’s like a little kid just trying to have a good time on his Birthday 😢😇❤️
I watched this at school in 7th grade.

I watched this in middle school. Heartwarming movie. But this scene was so sad, my brother has special needs himself.
I cried watching this, i love this book and this movie
I cried , my cousin has down syndrome and this reminded me so much of him. I miss him, he leaves in a another state. He's probably all grown up now.
When he was eating ice cream I knew he was gonna drop it...just sayin'
Marlin Archibald same
Somehow the silence connected us in a way that words never could
im confused the book clearly takes place in the 2000s but the movie takes place in the 50s why is that?
Most 20s boys are fuckboys so in the 50s it sounds more realistic.
The author came to my school she said the director just thought it would be a better movie without all the Tech and stuff we use today
Orellabacogeid i was wondering that.
I like the change. For some reason, I can't imagine this in the early 2000s
i love that they made this scene like exaclty like the book! its nice
guys if you laugh there is something wrong in ur mind, and ur twisted!
TheKillerLaughter2 I laughed because it’s cute and he’s funny obviously aside from when he freaked out
Everyone in my class laughed, except me

I’m allowed to laugh cause I’m sick with autism which is a disease similar to that of Down syndrome
@@Shannonbarnesdr1 that’s not true

I think I like the book a bit better, only because the movie seems short compared to the book.
"I do like I've cream, Richard..." Cutest thing ever! This part in the movie was so... Good? Sad? Happy? A little mixture of both.
