This might be your best piece of storytelling since "The Misprint"...and a more immersive one, too, as this one has an active listening character. I listened to this entire thing during a two-hour stretch of road travel today...coincidentally enough, while returning home after a weekend spend working in my capacity as the Dragon Merchant himself... This will definitely go into my list of your audios to relax to, as well as the sleeping pill collection. Exceptionally well done!
This was an amazing story, and I really hope you spin it out into a series! It seems like there is a lot of potential buried in the background of this setting!
Was tuned into your channel by my favorite VA, and delighted to hear his appearance in your incredible work. No one who hears this cannot be truly impressed. This deserves a standing ovation
Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked the story. I considered releasing it as a series, but this way, there are no post roll ads between one part of the story and the next.
@@nightmotherasmr funny thing is, we are playing dnd with friends also in desert setting, and my character just got snake - like abilities, so your story matches perfectly with mine, like it could really happen in "my" past Also it was interesting :)
On my 4th listen, falling asleep before the end every time which I guess is the point. What a great story with a fantastic script and accompanying sounds. In my opinion one of the best asmr stories ever posted on YT. Thank you so much, you really make amazing high quality content.
At some point in this video, I say something like "be careful what book you read before sleep, the world of the book might follow you into your dreams..."
Just found your channel and this was a great listen! Very relaxing, excellent soundwork and storytelling. It even inspired a few ideas for a dnd campaign I'm running 😉
Listening through this again (while working on some leather projects, amusingly enough...Dragon Merchant doing merchant things...) I'm getting mental flashbacks to a whole array of books and movies with desert imagery in them. Dune, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Ten Commandments, plus several more indistinct sources that I can't identify. It's all very thought-provoking. I also picked up a little more on the hints of old history and lore to this world...there is SO much more detail that someone could go into with this place. I shall not soon grow weary of listening to this one.
I was thinking about Solsteim when I wrote them... But a Telvanni would never work for someone else like Bruno's wizard does - not if Neloth is anything to go by.
59:49 Leave the safety of the caravan to go explore the very dangerous desert? Sure, why not? Ruined temple, you say? I'm in. Wait, what are you reading for? Let's go. Get rich? Well, ok, if you inist, but you had me at ruined temple and danger.
Amazing story, but I have a historical nickpick: For her grandfather to have been a carpenter under Blackbeard's command this would have to take place somewhere around 1750, well after the end of piracy in the Caribbean .
@@BaronVonFisticuffsFlorida born woman here. Snakes taste pretty good. But not worth it with all the bones. Now alligators, good eating right there! 😋 🍽️

Thank you, I'm glad you liked it, and had time to listen to the full video :) I hope I didn't reveal too much about the Dragon Merchant?
@@nightmotherasmr No more than he himself reveals to some folk...
You did a great job. What little you did tell only adds more to the mystique.

I'm so glad you got to hear this...not just for my own humble contribution, but for the marvelous storytelling by the Night Mother...
I am at the 1 hour 48 min mark, this thing has been crazy good. This could make for a very atmospheric movie. Thanks for your hard work.

The ending is very smart! Opens up the possiblity for more stories from this characters perspective
Holy, I'll listen it until Friday by small portions, can't even estimate how much imagination you need for such long roleplays

This is amazing. Instantly subscribed. I cannot put into words how much I love this.
Thank you, much appreaciated!
What a treat
Really need to take some time to listen to the whole story and not just go to sleep somewhere in the middle.
Thanks for another great story! :)
Fell asleep listening to this last night and had some crazy dreams. Now I have to relisten so I know what happens.

I wish I'd known that creator has that sound...I've used others of his effects before.
No, the snakes are definitely not poisonous.
Now, whether or not they're venomous remains to be seen.
Right! So if we got stuck in there, we could have eaten them?
