Luckily I have 5 other plants on their way because I am now sad and disappointed. What a GORGEOUS plant she is if only she was a regular Philodendron!! Just wanted to add an update. My furcatum is great!!! I just had a new leaf open for me and I haven’t lost any of the original leaves that it shipped to me with!! I have 5 leaves right now and it’s been a very easy plant to acclimate and to grow!

aww i'm sorry, I don't mean to kill your spirit! I recently spoke with a plant seller in Spain, he is selling Furcatums. He says they are easy like other velvet anthuriums, on the other hand Lynnhannoniae are difficult he said!

Hallelujah!! You are the first to portray my struggle with this Diva of a plant. I got mine from Ecuagenera with 4 beautiful leaves but unfortunately root rot! To cut a long story short I'm left with a chunky wetstick that lives in my propagation box 80% humidity, in spagnum moss and I'm hoping for the best even if it means that I'll have to struggle to get it rooted again, not to mention having back leaves😔🤭😄 one thing at a time 🤞

The very first time I saw a furcatum was at a plant sale. The lady had it in a shaded part of her garden growing out the ground next to her pool and it was beautiful. I live in California.
Thank you for posting this! Although I may have found it too late, I’m only left with a rootless stump haha. I tried everything from putting in in a terrarium, keeping it wet, kept in in pafcal & pumice but it just deteriorated, from 3 leaves with a new shoot to nothing but a rootless stump in 4 weeks! lol. The stump looks good, I just removed all the rotted roots, and chucked it in a small jar with water, and shoved in my glass terrarium with my begonias where it gets 99% humidity and a temperature ranging from 24-27 deg. I can’t get the temperature any lower as I’m from Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. I’m hoping to acclimatize it in this environment, so it’ll put out new roots and hopefully, some leaves!

We're all in this together!! hahaha I've reached the point of accepting whatever happens to it haha Like, okay I'll still do what's best but I'm just not gonna move heaven and earth, you know what I mean. Bonjour Maikka, revi de t'avoir rencontrée l'autre soir. Si tu aimes Philodendron lynnhannoniae, tu peux le voir dans la nature dans la réserve de Mashpi à partir de la minute 28.25 dans notre film sur l'Equateur, lors de notre voyage en août dernier. Et beaucoup d'autres Araceae dans ce film.

Hey there! It has been continuously growing but the leaves don't really last long, I'm guessing it's because of the warmer spring weather. Recently my cat knocked off one of the plants and so my last remaining decent lynn leaf was damaged from this. I know someone who is successfully raising it in a terrarium inside a wine fridge! You can message me on insta and I can give you more tips! Regards xx
@@rareplantsinparis9638 It has arrived. She is doing very well. i think i have luck with her. I am using only moss as media ( keep it wet mostly, water frequently ) . And I try not to make it so "wet" but high humidity. The temperature i try to keep on is 20 C. It has been here for almost one month. I first rehabbed her in a big box for 2 weeks ( humidity 100, and a fan blew her two times daily to make sure she has fresh air and the leaf wasn't wet like after a shower ). She seemed very happy. now she is in my greenhouse cabinet. I still feel nervous as i know she is fussy. finger crossed. will contact you more to share in insta. Thanks. Have a nice day !
I got 4 pots from Ecuador 2 weeks ago. These plants will not thrive in indoor room conditions unless your room has 90 percent up humidity ( which will be a mossy room 😂) . If you are planning to get one, it is best to put them inside Terrarium where it is best grown out of their natural habitat.
Agreed! But in my case, it's been receiving non-stop 90% humidity but it was still lacking the cooler temperature (usually it was 22-23 celsius in there) so it was still growing but all the leaves were deformed. I'm doing an experiment with an air cooler (low-cost air conditioner, lol) and I'll probably make an update video if it turns out well! If not, garbage hahaha

@PAUL POIRIER I purchased a wet stick from a purge group on FB. I lucked out bc I didn’t even know what it was. Since doing as much research as I possibly could, I’ve been able to keep this plant happy enough that it just unfurled its 3rd leaf!
Lol killed mine recently, seems to like a similar environment to my Splendidum whose atleast alive but the leaves just keep trying up even though its in 70%-95% humidity.

What if you put something on the glass to block the grow light from getting to it? That way it’s in the shade?

What kind of potting medium would you recommend?
I recommend an airy well-draining philodendron mix! I think it gets fussy on the temperature and humidity. :(
