David Gilmour (singer/guitarist) wrote this song about the woman he married in 1994, the novelist Polly Samson. (Polly herself has written many of the lyrics to the Gilmour-era Pink Floyd songs from the late 1980s/early 1990s). They are still together today.

Music at its best: That is Pink Floyd.
Glad you finally got around to them but there is little chance now that you will ever be able to experience this band on stage. That is where they really shine. I mean, it is like light coming out of their chests.
The majority of my 73 years on this planet has been devoted to Gilmour and the band.
When they perform live, it is on another level than anything else I have ever experienced. The professionalism of all involved sets the stage for a performance that is second to none. It don't get no better than Pink Floyd.
    Thanks for posting.

You can find an incredible acoustic version of this on youtube, it has this title: "David Gilmour - Coming Back to Life (In Concert)" ....... (and a girl-choir in the background on the thumbnail)

I've told you every time you react to a Pink Floyd song from The Pulse concert I was at in Earls Court London October 94, you need to listen and react and definitely watch the Final song of the concert what they finished the night with it's "Run Like Hell " it'll blow your mind away especially at the ending as the whole stage EXPLODES and shit loads of pyrotechnics going off..You won't be disappointed I've seen you react to Run Like Hell from the Pompeii concert but this goes miles better than that one

You might want to check out some Genesis, maybe "Firth of Fifth", "Ripples" or "Dance on a Volcano". Also, as a change of pace, Grand Funk Railroad "Inside Looking Out", the live video from 1969...

die hard floydsters will understand, ,,, when i hear live versions i miss the "off chord" at the end of this song on the original studio version, just like the "piano chord" at the end of "a day in the life" by the beatles, it leaves me feeling "incompletely satisfied" ,,longing for that last chord

Don't hurt yourself jumping into these videos! Can't go wrong with more PF. You might also appreciate Jethro Tull (Aqualung for a start), Dire Straits, or two groups that are pretty much ignored on these channels--Supertramp and Crowded House.
