Those Colt Sapporo Coupes where called the Mitsubishi(or Chrysler, early on) Sigma Scorpion in Australia, the Sigma name was also used on the four door sedans & the station wagons. Here Colt was used as a model name on the first, second & third generation Mirage, not a brand.
Confusing, wasn’t it? In the UK the marque was branded Colt until Mitsubishi name was phased in between around 1982 and ‘84. Someone else fleetingly imported Australian-built Sigmas too, branded Lonsdale; finding a survivor is the holy grail of obscure Unexceptional cars here.
Ooh I would have loved to have had a closer look at that Laurel - we had the same in pale green as the first family car I remember in the early 80s. They were super rare even then - I only remember ever seeing one other on the road!
Also the scale model, the maquette of the 80s BMW Series 3 in his studio is fantastic, many times better than the current BMW of todays, all these cars was fantastic, the Eighties maybe was a greater time for car design

Cavaliers were sold in the Lower Pacific as the Camira. The second gen. was so horrific that we got the Isuzu Aska, rebadged, in NZ. Nice car, but man, did it rust. The rear windscreen on my metallic maroon one fell out, as the frame had disappeared. They also used to sell Subaru Legacys under the Isuzu Aska badge, and they now sell the Nissan Urvan/Caravan in NZ as an import, labelled the Isuzu Como. Should have been Coma. Very slow.
Funny you should mention the Espace being a good place to.shekter from the rain as I think the journalist testing them at launch initially didn't get what the car was about until it rained on test and they all piled inside one. It's a shame I didn't see you as it would have been nice to have met you. I somehow missed the Renault 30 and the 11 TXE Electronic which I was gutted about. I did get to see many others and catch up with Shaun Henry and his Renault 5.

Only just got to this video having watched Mr. Lloyd's 8 parter series on the show. 😁 That white Renault 5 was incredible. Did it have a dash mounted gear stick or just a conventional one? The red Astra Merit was a deserved winner.
I was never a fan of Talbots, although I did like the Sunbeam Rapier and Hillman Hunter. I've only ever seen a Ferrari Daytona once and even then it could have been a replica, but some of the cars seen here and the likes of the pre-Opel Vauxhalls are things that give me a lot of pleasure on the odd occasions that I see them. You can see some of today's safety features starting to emerge and the transition from ohv to ohc engines. If a Daytona or Cobra blasts past, they may be false, but a Triumph 1300 or Vauxhall Victor will only ever be what it says on the boot. Unless it's an eighties Hyundai of course.
For its time, I thought that the Talbot Solara was a fantastic car. The top of the range model SX got far more equipment than the Cortina or Sierra Ghia ever offered but was probably hindered by only having a 1.6 rattly engine and styling that was more drab than the MkV Cortina.
I'd love to bring my 77 Audi 100 C2 GLS 2.0 it's an R prefix built 6 months in production and is the oldest in UK Audi C2 100. Audi UK own a T prefix I have not seen another early 77 to 78 GLS. There are a few later post face lift C2s plus three I know off metal bumper 5 cylinders. Plus a few imports from SA though I know what to look for as panels from SA differ from German pressings. My car has been off the road since 1988 had it running and it's extremely original. 40,600miles. I'm struggling to find parts. You'd love the interior it's brown, with orange velour seats, creame headlining and fake 70s style wood. I'd love you to do a road test of Audi UKs car. Great channel subscribed ages ago.

I'd love you if your ever passing to see. I just have to repair inner wings that's where they all rot from Polo to 200. From factory seam sealer partially blocked inner wing drain holes. But my car was only a special occasion car. 1st owner lives down the road does not know it survived his 21st birthday present. The rest is stunning sills, valances. Audi UK 100 has had arch repair and new wings. Not my car. Its incredibly original. I saved all castings brakes cylinders calipers even water pump rebuilt to keep the line thru rings logos or the original auto union badge dropped by 79. The trim either side of the rings gone by 79. I'm preserving originality. I like your presentation style and taste in cars. I'm 38 but always had a passion for cars.

I had a 323f v6 as my first company car. Wasn't great TBH. V6 was a bit crap and not at all quick. The Alfa 33 1.7 I had before it was miles better in every respect.
My type of exceptional bun fight, if you excuse the pun. I used to either sell most of these cars or helped to develop some of the later ones. I'm always amused how the best preserved models are quite often in awful colours, hearing aid beige, doom!/90 day blue, dogs cock red, battleship grey etc. I can't help thinking cabins were most interesting, individual and more welcoming decades ago.
Actually you’re probably correct, come to think of it - I think they look ok on an early Toledo though as the early press and advertisement cars were on black plates. But yes, those were J and K reg.
I know what you mean,the current ruling meaning cars upto 1980 can legally have non reflective plates but seeing an M or S reg with black plates looks wrong.That particular Toledo is correct though,having being registered in Sept.1972.
Dunno about Renaults after the R16. I recently disposed of a Citroen C3 - it was utter rubbish. Also had a Peugeot 307., or 3007? It was better than the Citroen, but only just.
Bring back the Avenger! Indestructible machines. I also had a Laurel 2.4, the model after that, in silver. DO NOT buy an old Mitsi/Colt. Hyundai made a version of that ghastly big Mitsi.
@@GrandThriftAuto Always remember a Horizon my Dad hired in Switzerland probably to be fair a 1.3? couldn't get up the hills with any confidence and getting into lane quickly almost impossible. The Swiss were/are sticklers for lane discipline (very impressive! to a young boy). A neighbour in Anerley had a Lotus version and over the road was an Alfa GTV6 in metallic grey and the person who ran the RO80 owners club lived down the road. I had a Wolseley 1300 mk2 with an MG twin carb. Those were the days!

It was a floor shift on that R5, just a little too new for the column shift. Still had the TL-spec ribbed dash for extra feeling though ♥️
I used to own the white SAAB 900 back in 2013. Sold it for £500 MOT'd, as that was all it was worth back then!
