Why more people don’t make that move? Because they want to stay close to their family. Parents that are getting older, kids that are still at school etc.
Truth is simple
Fear
So many always talk about travel but never do it and it's because they're too scared to leave what's familiar.
I’m American, my wife is from Thailand and we both live in Taiwan. You said it perfectly. It’s good to look outside the country sometimes for opportunity. I already know I’m never going to retire in the states. Thailand or Taiwan or Latin America for sure. We’ve been able to save money so easily out here
What is your job?
One thing I wish they would talk about is the visa situation. Most people in the video talk about only living in their $1 home for a couple months during the year, I assume that is because a tourist visa is 90 days. I wish they at least talked about the type of visa they were on and/or how hard it was to get some kind of residency in Italy. Seems relevant.
Love your videos, you have helped me tremendously with my finances and understanding money. Been watching for a long time. I am now 23 making over 100k a year. I just purchased my first house and other than that I’m completely debt free! Thank you for everything!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!
Great for you! However, this is factually nearly impossible without prior assistance (help) via family, savings & investments that someone created for you, etc…unless you’re connected with “fame”…so spill your real reality! (:
@@JRoseE1989this isn’t far from reality at all?
What do you do for work?

Graham, you should go to Italy, but this $1 home, remodel and live there for one year. Great material for your YT.
I thought this video was going to be about how to buy a house in the U.S. for $1 because you write off everything else as a business expense (similar to your Tesla video) 😂😂😂
As a European there is no trust thing for properties. We own the properties on our names and its fine. We still dont get the probate when people pass because their kids inherit it after that.
Do a video on getting Real Estate through a trust. I would love to know more. Can I still finance it? deduct the mortgage interest on my taxes? Homestead Exempt it? etc. Tons of questions about this
Yes to all. It's practically an extension of you since a revocable trust flows back to the owner.
Gary Indiana and Detroit are also selling homes for one dollar. The condition is that you have to fix it up and live there for a couple years. It is to generate tax dollars for the city.
Scary places
@@ryanstevens2722 Yeah, but good opportunity
I bought in Italy for under 40k fully renovated and everything and access to public transit. People don't realize you can still buy affordable property without all the red tape to fix it up. You might as well take all the money you'd use to renovate and still buy affordable property that isn't crumbling
My wife and I have been playing with the idea of moving to Spain and renting our house here in the States while i work remote. Arbitrage of my salary, low cost of living paired with ditching US healthcare and health insurance.
Great video as always
Great video!! Very interesting! Would love to see more videos with an international spin. Thnx!
😁👍🏼
Thanks Graham, learning a lot about Real Estate & finance watching your videos, 1031 exchanges, Real Estate & Investment portfolios, Crypto etc…
Great video
I have tested the 'digital nomad' life for a year, it is fantastic. I will likely do it for longer in the next five years and beyond.
Are you gonna tell us more about your Japan trip in a feature video?
About to buy one of these! Going to be putting $0.20 down and mortgaging the other $0.80
Love this video. I was thinking if getting something like this for my mom. We have been to italy befire but not sure if she would want to retire there.
Great video Graham. With a trust can you homestead your principle residence in trust?
Some Japanese rural areas do something similar. They have a glut of abandoned houses in the countryside.
Okay Graham, i surrender, the voice effect and facial expression is unmatched, overall i like the concept and the presentation. Did you know in uganda you can rent a month at only $55 - $100 and its modest
50 seconds into this video and I’m immediately about to buy a portfolio of $1 properties in the exquisite hills of Italy to Airbnb.
;)
Hey Graham, you should really do a video about the DLBA in Detroit. Detroit RE isn’t that bad. A lot of Americans could benefit from hearing about this option for their goal towards home ownership. A video like this could benefit the city of Detroit and tons of young Americans. Because unlike these houses in Italy, it can be cheaper to invest Detroit.
The Azores offers you 250k euros to remodeling towards a purchase of a “fixer”. Need to live in country at least 181 days a year to qualify. Citizenship is not needed.
Purchased my home for $310k in 2019. It needed nothing in terms of maintenance, and I’d rather have it than a $1 piece of garbage that’ll cost me 10’s of thousands of dollars to repair and upkeep. For someone in my position, I just need my real estate to be string-free. Again, thanks for the wonderful content, *Fiola!*
Are you going to make a video about the most recent Yotta update on March 11th ?
I am planning to leave the country when I retire. Still not sure where I'm going to go, but even where I currently live (which has relatively cheap real estate) the cost of living is horrendously high.
Thailand! Buy a condo, the cost of living is very cheap
❤❤❤
Standard of living is just better in a lot of those towns. Many of those are part of blue zones. More money and better business usually doesnt mean longer lives. Life is much slower in those areas, maybe not as wealthy but they all have family, friends, and a sense of community.
My parents just bought a house in Italy for 10k. It’s pretty amazing but still needs a lot of work. My parents are retired so I worry that they won’t be able to completely fix it up.
Hey, you can't live in CA for $475,000. Edit: Also, property taxes in Italy are lower (or they were) as long as the house is still under construction, so it may never technically be complete.
Never mind houses for €1, Graham - you're wearing a new watch, what happened the Zenith El Primero!?
I love your thumbnail.
Thank you!
I am retired from the DoD. I am going to be in town to look for properties to invest in. I am a Deadhead and look forward to my three month vacation out there. I like you only have the wings to leave Cali.
Graham I love my earl grey tea 🍵
I'm seriously thinking about moving to Portugal when we retire. Just one of our Social Security checks would cover all our expenses, leaving a lot of extra cash for travel, etc.
Nice sky dweller graham!
Damn this is the earliest I’ve been to a video, I just got done watching Caleb hammer 😂
Welcome!
Anyone know his watch details?
Hey Graham prices are expensive
How about $1?
@@TheGrahamStephanShow always great to hear from u sir 😊
Up next. Shelby Church buys Italian Air BnB for $1.
😂😂😂❤❤
This is pretty cool. I'm curious how exactly home ownership in Italy works for American citizens.
Still liking
Of course is less expensive where everything and salary is way less than the USA
Hey, Graham do you make vlogs still? I miss them!
I don't :( Might post on the channel every now and then, just haven't felt like it
Yeah, deep blue would look really really nice. You should be an interior designer, Graham.
👍
Gram
Hey!
The 475k one had me thinking, great another wealth transfer to the rich, but 12:20 shows you can have a beautiful place without spending in excess of a home in the us
The same in Portugal i wish i had the same pay there tha i have in USA. I would live like a Queen
"historical stone wall" or "crumbling expensive stone ruin"
hmmmm
Unfortunately this doesn't happen as much due to asymmetric information
Yeah there’s that required investment though.
When my wife and I retire, goodbye states!
Great... Graham made this wish and now I'm diabetic.
i've lived in thailand and jack is enamored.. food is cheap but if you want an american standard of living it's going to cost more than 20k a year. maybe a single dude renting a 1 br apartment bachelor life style... maybe... but you're still giving up the american standard.
So you get what you pay for. There is a catch to it.
Bitcoin is too expensive too. Especially with all the scams. 😂😂
For about 500k I can buy 1-2 houses in the states so it is not really a solution.
Mr. Beast $1 houses where pretty awesome.
Graham go put your properties in a trust. I’m sure you were not financially driven in that sales pitch. I know you’re thinking about the viewer.
Already did!
I really like Graham's voice.. especially when he makes those whiney voices!
How is it possible for gen z to be able to ever afford a house by saving for a mortgage and not partying ever weekend damn it 😂
Not first

How much of a mistake could it be.. lol.. ya lost $1 and learned a lesson lol (Haven't watched yet ik this isnt the real scenario)
No go on the first design for me. It's depressing
Reshoot the video…fix your hair 😂
What’s the problem, Joe? Genuinely curious…
Geez 🙄
The issue is governments... You have to take into account that you are NOT under US law so a lot of freedoms we have here may not be applicable there. Doesn't mean it's bad but heck before you move.
They will not Graham. You're a little delusional just cause you hear these stories and headlines. All people have to do is move to a different area if they want that cheaper way of life. Americans don't want that. They are lying if they say so. Especially these retired folk with assets saved. Bunch of nonsense. Their are dying cities in the USA, with dirt cheap housing. People... They in general want to live in excess and complain to why they can't live large in the perfect area like they are sold to on TV or on social media by idiots. The USA is huge. And living in a non-1st world country Graham is a little ridiculous. You give up a lot. People take for granted what they have and is available in the States. There is a reason why the USA is by far the most sought place for people to move to from Italy, other European nations, and most other parts of the world. It's a cute narrative to sell though.
