The late 60s were turbulent. I was born in '62 and remember the riots, the end of people's ability to leave their homes without locking their doors and the push for foul language and drug use.
The scene where she's riding down the street: It was filmed in Larchmont Village. You can see the Hollywood sign up on the mountain, waaaaay in the background.
@@hifijohn It wasn't supposed to be Manhattan. It was supposed to be far out of the city, somewhere upstate. But seeing the Hollywood sign off in the distance is a big giveaway that it's nowhere near New York!
@@hifijohn She said it was Fenwick , wherever that is lol. But she also said it was before they moved to Brewster and I could have sworn in the earlier episodes I saw on here that she grew up in Brewster, or at least went to high school there. lol
I watched this show new, when I was a child. It is still good. The 1980s still had some parking meters in some towns. I remember seeing meter maids driving those little golf cart type vehicles during 1970s. My folks would put a nickel in the meter when they'd park at one. That raspy voice of Anne's gets on my nerves , but when I was a kid I didn't notice it. She is also very high strung.
Mountains and palm trees in Brewster, NY...hmmmm.. The mountains are kind of believable because of the Adirondacks but the palm tree... Just making fun, here. I LUV this series.
Because this episode deals with corruption in city politics, producers felt it necessary to create the fictional town of Fenwick so as not to offend the citizens of Brewster, a real town. But this does present a continuity problem because it was established that Ann was born and raised in Brewster. They could have just had Mr. Marie's restaurant in nearby Fenwick while the family was living in Brewster.
I just noticed that Ted Bessell directed this episode. It is fast paced, funny, and very well done. I really liked Ted Bessell, so my opinion may be biased. Dennis Weaver was great in the guest starring role as the newspaper editor.
Even though Marlo Thomas was in her late 20's when she did this show, she exuded optimism. She also thought like many young people that she "could change the world". However, as my 77 year old husband has said repeatedly, "The world just operates on us and by and large, we can't change a thing".
In the scene taking place at home during the flashback, this is supposed to be prior to moving to Brewster, yet the house appears to be the same, right down to the furnishings.
Small towns had meters during 1960s and 1970s. I think my parents just put in a nickel for their time. I once saw a meter maid writing a line on someone's rear tire, with a long pole.
The Marie's live in upstate New York, yet when Ann is driving down the street, there are mountains in the background and when she parks, palm tree fronds are behind her.
Lovely ann marie meter maid Nothing can come between us When it gets dark I tow your heart away Standing by a parking meter When I caught a glimpse of ann marie Filling in a ticket in her little white book
Just love this Good Natured and Innocent show from the so called "Turbulent" 60´s.

I just LOVE Dennis Weaver! ❤️ my favourite show was Mc Cloud! ❤️🤗
Great message and this episode was directed by Ted Bessell AKA Donald.
At the beginning of this episode you can see the California mountains of New York state,..hahaha !!!
I think it's supposed to be the Adirondacks

Interestingly Ted directed this episode gr8 job❣️
I was surprised to see Dennis Weaver in this episode
After watching this opening hundreds of times... This is the first time that I noticed the Ann Marie Kite with the store window Gown...
her gown is beautiful. 😊
I have hated that kite since I was 5 or 6. Ugly likeness of her.
Surprised they never fixed that.

McLeod's Dennis Weaver. Awesome actor.
Such a cute show. So well written and performed.

Actually, it is the fictional town of Fenwick, N.Y., before the Marie family moved to Brewster, as Ann had stated.
Don directed this episode. Multi-talented guy

I have not seen this episode . Very cute
She is/ was so cute!

They had parking meters in Houston in the early 70s
They have had coin parking meters( and meter maids ) in most major cities up until 10 years ago.😂
The last coin operated parking meter was in 2016 and the last one in Europe was 2011
@05:19 There are no palm trees growing outside in NY.
The Marie's live in upstate New York, yet when Ann is driving down the street, there are mountains in the background and when she parks, palm tree fronds are behind her.
If you needed help back then, you would need a dime. 😂
All through the 70s
Wow, the Marie's had a maid.
They don't have California fan palms in New York, but I just saw one. The director missed it...again. 😁
This isn’t real. LOL
Wig was lopsided during the tickets scene.
Do y think that she wears a WIG ?
Marlo Thomas did not wear a wig. Her hair was her own
I remember freedom of speech
This has to be the most annoying episode. I hated the delivery.
Lovely ann marie meter maid
Nothing can come between us

Lovely Rita, Meter Maid. By the Beatles. With slightly altered lyrics. I doubt that Paul and Ringo would be upset. But Yoko might.
