In the early run of The Suicide Squad, you had a mixture of Heroes like Nemesis, Nightshade, Bronze Tiger (Okay Idk if he started out as a villain or not) Rick Flag Jr, Oracle (Barbara Gordon), and Vixen. The John Ostrander runs of Suicide Squad was drenched and soaked with cynicism. People compare Suicide Squad to Marvel’s Thunderbolts, that misses the point of The Thunderbolts. The Thunderbolts when it started by Kurt Busiek had *Redemption* as a core theme, and it even continued with the runs by Warren Ellis/Christos Gage, Andy Diggle, Jeff Parker and Jim Zub. The Suicide Squad otoh are irredeemable, and often dragged the heroes in the Suicide Squad to _their_ level. I hope this helps.
