Thanks to you I got the answer I needed! I already have a gas grill so getting the vertical was the wiser choice. Smoked some cheeses, did up some ribs. Home run!
Another hit. Thanks for making the video with great comedic break. Put me in the vertical category but will probably purchase a horizontal next summer.
I have used the WKG forever. I also tried several smokers, offset and a couple electric verticals. I now have the brunswick platinum. I saw this on your channel and bought it. Love it! I still use my WKG for burgers steaks and such. I enjoy your channel.
Thanks for your great videos. I have the Brunswick, and I love it. Awesome job for smoking. For grilling I have my tried and true WKG. So really someone can have a great smoker, and a great grill. Not a wallet buster. Also I found that if I add wood chips to my smoke tube, I get better smoke. Keep up the good work.
Offset wood smoker for me . I like the fact I cut my own wood, learn how much wood to use how each wood has distinct characteristics like it will give off different flavour and color . The digital “smoker” is like using a bake oven IMO .
I agree with you. I put out a video for why I think it’s good to start out on a pellet smoker to learn the basics and then jump to offset th-cam.com/video/1KSbCOLQwzc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=PdoKtlVa9Q6jNeaA
Same verdict for me. If you were to only have 1, the horizontal is the way to go. It truly is a do all. But I’d say have both, then you can have the best of both worlds!
Already had a charcoal, and gas grill so I just got brunswick found one walmart that had in stock so was able to pickup otherwise think would've been pit boss pro 4 version 2 love your channel this for doing comparisons on pellet grills a d smokers
Are you cooking more for just the family? I would go with the horizontal. You will save so much time. But if you are into big bbq cooks or have a catering business, vertical is the way to go.
@@GrillSergeant I really like it so far. My CharGriller w/side fire box and some other mods, after 26 years, finally rusted through. So the wife allowed me to get a new one. I’ve cooked ribs, butt, tri tip, turkey and lastly a brisket. I’ve got a few different pellets, cherry, oak, hickory and Royal Oak charcoal. I’m finding the ease of not having to keep the fire stoked a huge plus. I did get a smoke tube for added smoke. I’m looking at getting the vertical cooker of this line too.
you also get a hot spot on the PB horizontal due to where the vents are. So you end up needing to move meat a bit to balance out the cook. not a deal breaker, just knowledge.
After having 4 horizontal pellet grills, and one Pitboss Vertical, I’m never going Vertical again.. It works great for what’s it supposed to do, smoke lots meat low n slow, absolute winner! But when it comes to an all around appliance in my outdoor kitchen, the Horizontal just simply wins.. 🙌
Great point you made, I live in Arizona and we also have little to no humidity and I always leave my pellets in the hopper. I have a Pit Boss Classic which I have had for 2 and a half years and I absolutely love it. With that said, there have been times where I have a large cook going but, I also want to make beef jerky but I can't because my grill is smoking a pork butt or whatever. So that's why I am here. I want a new Pit Boss and have looked at the vertical Brunswick. Hopefully, I will get it for Father's Day, we shall see. New subscriber BTW.
Thank you for the videos. You are very helpful and entertaining. I have been using the Chargriller Akorn for several years now and love it but I would like to have something with more capacity for smoking. I was attracted to the Pit Boss Pro Series 4 because my daughter's business uses 3 of them 12 hrs a day 5 days a week with no problem. The vertical is the best bet for my needs I believe since I will continue to use my Akorn for grilling and I like the constant temperature throughout the verticle smoker as well.
I’ve always wondered if a vertical produces better smoke? What’s your opinion on that sir? I have a pit boss 1600 and some other smokers. The 1600 is an awesome pit after getting the new controller it works like a champ! But idk I’ve been looking at the pitboss 7 series vertical but can’t convince myself since the 1600 provides ample space and Great smoke. Great video by the way🤙🍻
For those of us with several you kids/babies anything more complicated than charcoal grilling is not an option. Pellet smokers have been my gateway to good bbq with minimal extra effort. Even firing up the kettle or WSM for smoking having taken a back seat. It’s still too easy for me to forget to check the fire. I’d rather just worry about the meat. And if I have a bit more time than using something like the smoke cage on my Maverick 1250 allows me to get more WSM/kettle style wood smoke if I need/want it.
I have not. One thing to consider with bigger smokers is unless you are catering all that extra room is going to take that much longer to heat up and burn more fuel to maintain that temp.
excellent video! i have both The PB 700FB ( hate the sear plate, need to use a tool to open it) and series 3 vertical Love both, but i think i need to get a bigger horizontal love ur videos! keep up great work
If you make your own sausage and do cured smoked sausage then the 150 low temps will be infinitely better for smoking sausage. It is almost too high as you will be cooking too soon but it is doable! To get the most smoke flavor on your links, you will have to use a smoke tube for an hour or so, and then fire it up to start at 150. The other at 180 is too hot and will render out the fat too fast giving you a dry crumbly sausage long before you get any smoke flavor, however with a smoke tube you could manage, but I would rather have the lower temp unit.
@@GrillSergeant definitely I will have to see if I can find that! I build a smokehouse but it kinda sucks to run it for small batches or small cooks. So I have been kinda looking for a smaller smoker that had a better temp range for doing sausage. Thanks
@@mikesmicroshop4385 Definitely give a look into SmokinTex smokers. They also double as a food warmer and they are definitely cheaper to run then a pellet smoker.
Great comparison - and I think I agree with your conclusions. I've found when using my verticals I really don't get as much usable space because you can't use the whole shelf - but there's so much room in there that I'm not really constrained anyway. But like you, 90% horizontal and 10% vertical is what I find myself doing when I'm cooking for family and friends. Oh - and I'd be remiss if I didn't mention your production quality. Thanks for setting such a high bar for the rest of us! -Al
I personally enjoy the assembly part myself. I'm trying to decide on getting the elite 6 or the Brunswick. I know there's a significant price difference currently but I'm guessing over memorial weekend Lowe's will run a sale. Can't wait to see your video and thank you.
@@scifiguy8011 Before even trying the Pro Series Elite I can already tell that is going to be better over the Brunswick. All the issues I faced with the Brunswick (slow heat up time, lack of smoke) have all been addressed Pro Series Elite.
The grills are not very good at smoking or grilling. The vertical pellet smokers are great smokers. So get the vertical smoker and get a Blackstone for grilling.
I have the copper model. Poorly designed. The hopper empty door is not sealed very well and allows water to leave into the pellet feeder. Covered the smoker with two covers and still have problems. I have spent enough time snd money fixing this smoker. Into the trash today.
I disagree leaving your smoker running for days without attending..It will burn what ever you are smoking..Please dont leave your smoker running for days
Get both. Your kid didn't need that surgery anyway
😂

The pitboss 1600 Elite on clearance $559 and temp as low as 150°
I just bought the Lexington 1000 before Thanksgiving. After cooking on it, I can see the benefit of the vertical one. Might get it next bonus!!

My Brunswick doesn’t take that long to heat up
How long does it take you to get up to 250?
Good comparison Andrew! I like horizontal pits, they look cooler hah. Having both is definitely a great option for the larger cooks. Happy holidays!
Ha! It's all about how cool they look!
So I'm guessing the vertical is the way to go for smoking large batches of jerky and smoked sausage. Probably need both styles.
Vertical for me.
I cannot find the Brunswick anywhere.
