    I’ve purchased a diaphragm pump for syrup and a lift that attaches to my UTV hitch to lift full 55gl drums from Vevor. No complaints other than the packaging. Prices are almost too good to be true. Extractor looks like another good buy.

    I bought a manual 3 frame one last year from Amazon - when it came one of the the poly carb lids broken - so I reached out to get just a new lid sent to me - it took many emails - to China... and eventually one day I got a package.... they sent me an entire new extractor!! If I would have done it again I would by the motor one. But I only have 3 hives so its not too bad. But I wasn't thinking - I should have bought a 4 frame - as I run 8 frame mediums - so that would make it a lot easier. So when I pull I either have to pull only 6 or 9 frames to make it easier.

      I put mine on a solid base I made out of 4 x 4” lumber and heavy plywood. This base height holds the extractor at the same height as the legs . I used the bolts that came with the legs and heavy 90 degree angle brackets to bolt it to my base. Works good. Minimal wobble at high speed.

    I have a version of this and replaced the small nuts with nylon insert nuts as they tend to come loose with usage.

    Thanks for taking the time to do this! A question - Honey gate placement - Is it raised above the floor of the extractor? Do you need to tip it up in the back when your trying to empty it out?

    You should go down to your local big box home improvement store and buy lock nuts for the lid nuts. HillCo uses lock nuts on their lids. With a machine that vibrates you can count on those nuts coming loose and falling into your honey.

    • @JCsBees
      @JCsBees  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good to know. A jam nut would be nice but like I mentioned in the video "Lock Tite" would also be a fix. A small dap and they would not be a worry anymore.

    Nice extractor, I do like the safety switch, and hinges.
    I'll check my extractor today and see if there is room to add the hinges, I have to bolt mine to the floor, it gets a bit runaway,
    My first time using it cam with a few foul words, it's a hand crank and I didn't have it far enough away from the counter and slammed my fingers between the two.

    Just a heads up. Make sure you use Loctite on the lid handle screws. I got that model this year and I'm very happy with it. I'm going to sturdy up the legs this fall for less wobble.

    hey jason, i have had the vevor 8 frame for 2 seasons now and it has been great. my only complaint is that i went to order replacement parts from them and I was told they didnt have replacement parts for it and it was out of the year warranty so there was nothing they could do to help. I was even willing to pay for the replacement lid i needed.

    As cheap as these are I wonder if you could modify the frame rack into a mixer and turn the extractor into a honey creamer. Just if the gear box would hold up.

    • @JCsBees

    I’ve has mine going on 3 years now and it’s still going strong. It has a ball bearing in the bottom that you could lose if you take it apart to clean, so bee careful.

    • @planbeeapiaries
      @planbeeapiaries ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. Very important detail! I lost mine the very first time I was cleaning it and turned it upside down. I had an old 4 inch rotating castor wheel and used one of the bearing from that as a replacement. 😜

    Smooth operation, no vibration and it didn't vibrate the red plastic piece off.

  • @planbeeapiaries
    @planbeeapiaries ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The 2 major issues I had with mine (before selling it and upgrading to a Maxant) was the spot welds, that hold the leg mounting points, give out (I drilled the failed ones out and used stainless bolts and nuts as I don't have a setup for stainless welding) and the orange/red bushing goes out pretty quickly and I recommend making one out of PVC using the spare as a template while you have it. The PVC lasts forever. After the "beefing up" procedures it does work pretty well.

    • @JCsBees
      @JCsBees  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Awesome breakdown on the upgrades you made! Love the tip on the bushing. I wonder what can be done now to prevent the leg issue? I noticed my Maxant has a ring connecting all the legs, it also adds strength 💪. Maybe adding a ring to the legs of the Vevor is the key. Any thoughts?

    • @planbeeapiaries
      @planbeeapiaries ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JCsBees I forgot to mention I used 2 ratchet straps around the legs. It would also help if the angle of the legs was more away from the extractor, but I didn't bend mine.

    Thank you I bought this last year from someone in my bee group. He put the lids on backwards so now I know to switch them so I don’t have to use rubber bands. I use heavy cement blocks on the legs to prevent rocking and it works. Thank you for the presentation

    I have a 3 frame and the only thing that I had to do was put pool noodles around the legs because the edges of them are razor sharp and will cut your fingers if you grab them to turn it up to drain all the honey.

    • @JCsBees
      @JCsBees  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I put mine together two days ago. Out of the box nuts and screws started falling off. Glad I wasn't in the grass like you were. On inspection all of the pre assembled nuts and screws weren't tightened. With my fat hands and arms I removed motor and spinner to install honey gate. After test run and then watching your video I realize its not spinning as fast as yours. But I do like it.

    I have 2 of them, I have them bolted to a metal table with a heater under it. I run shallow and mediums. Mine have a different basket shape and I had to fix some of the welds, and I added stainless tabs top and bottom to hold the frames straight. Don’t get the dial wet ever! I had to clean mine out once after someone washed it

    You should go ahead and order some extra lovejoy bushings. You will need them. What I’m talking about is the red star shaped hunk of soft plastic or rubber, as you mentioned at 14:09. I think vevor sells 3 for a few dollars. I got my extractor at Amazon, but I had the order the bushings direct from Vevor.

    • @JCsBees
