  • Antibiotics are medications that destroy or slow down bacterial growth. Depending on these effects an antibiotic can act as a bactericidal or a bacteriostatic agent. While a bactericidal antibiotic kills the bacteria, a bacteriostatic antibiotic stops bacterial growth.
