      @@shafuimcoming5151 I actually saw that he noticed her quite obvious beauty too, and its not a problem in Buddhism. In Buddhism there is no shame over being incarnated in an ape body that has reproductive instincts. Especially in Vajrayana Buddhism that the Dalai Lama is part of, Desire can actually be skillfully utilized as a driving force in the meditation styles of the Chakrasamvara and Vajrayogini Tantras in order to attain enlightenment. The Dalai Lama has said himself multiple times in interviews that sometimes he see's a beautiful woman and notices her attraction, and then just simply continues with what he's doing, because he is a monk and has monk vows of celibacy. And you can see that's what he does here: he is kind and courteous to her and simply does his interview while treating her with the same respect he does all his other interviewers.

    so gay marriage is wrong for those who have rigorous beliefs, otherwise there is no fence? Kind of subjective i'd say. What is the buddhist moral teaching on same sex attraction? That's what i would like to know.

      @uguensonam1459 8 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      +Z0mbicore Obviously you have to understand that he couldn't speak English well. What he means is if a religion forbids gay marriage, (some might not) then one has to weigh which is more important-sexuality or rigorously following the faith though it is possible to be both Christian and gay at the same time. As per my understanding Buddhism doesn't deal with sexuality that much. Buddhism is about accepting the existence of suffering, recognizing the causes, finding cure for the suffering, and reaching towards Enlightenment. I guess there is nothing wrong to be gay unless that brings sufferings to yourself and others.

      If one *chooses* to be guided by Buddhism, then the Buddha offered precepts as a guide to limit one's conduct in order to combat suffering, both one's own and that of others.
      A broad answer to your question would be based upon the third (Buddhist) precept.
      "Kamesu (about the senses) micchacara (wrongly going) veramani (to refrain from) sikkhapadam (the Precept) samadiyami (I undertake)", i.e.
      I undertake the precept to refrain from wrongly going about the senses.
      Some say that "Kamesu" has a specific sexual connotation to it, though this may be cultural biases.
      Regardless of whether this is true or not, sexual misconduct is most definitely
      covered by this precept, since sexual conduct is enjoyed and indulged in
      through the senses (specifically our 'tactile sense' of physical contact) and misconduct can properly be considered to be that which one is "wrongly going about", i.e. that which is conducive to suffering (again, of oneself and of others) and inconducive to spiritual development, such as hatred, greed and ignorance rather than compassion, generosity and wisdom.
      The Buddha stated in the Kalama Sutta that in order to detemine whether something is right or wrong one should determine whether it leads to suffering, either to oneself or of others, others meaning all beings, not just humans. Furthermore, if something is conducive to one's spiritual advancement, i.e. does it in the long run lead to true happiness of oneself and others and does it lead to the destruction within oneself of greed, hatred and delusion (and all other
      negative or unwholesome tendencies or emotions and or mental states)
      then it ought to be practiced or encouraged. If it is not conducive (in the long run) to true happiness of oneself and others and does not lead to the destruction within oneself of greed, hatred and delusion (and all other negative or unwholesome tendencies or emotions and or mental states) then it ought not be practiced or encouraged. This of course would include any kind of sexual conduct.
      With regard to same sex attraction, the Buddha did not specifically express any admonishment, he merely admonished indulgence in the senses as inconducive to spiritual development and conducive to the prolonging of suffering. The Maha-pranaparamita-sastra is a mahayanist text composed by the Caitikas, a Buddhist sect of around the 1st or 2nd Century CE and the text itself around the same time. In this text one finds references pertinent to the matter at hand, though whether one considers it "Buddhist" would be a matter of opinion since it is not Pali Canonical, nor strictly speaking "the word of the Buddha".
      The bottom line here (no pun intended) is do you yourself TRULY consider any kind homosexual activity to be breaking the precepts, in which case act upon that as one sees appropriately, consequently one needs to be *brutally* honest with oneself and if one has homosexual tendencies and one acts upon them and one considers them to be contra to the precepts then one should act wisely upon this, for one's own sake as well as others.

      in the buddhist religion there is nothing saying there is anything wrong with being gay, they do not see it as a sin or virtue. however they do believe that sex before marraige is a sin, however they dont repremand it. but as in most countries it is illegal to marry the same sex, thus meaning buddhists believe you shouldn't have sex with the same gender. so thats what he meant by it depends how religious u are.

    • @InvalidUser_
      @InvalidUser_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think thats just a mistranslation of him saying that if you have a religious belief which does not support gay marrage you should keep it to yourself and not impose it among others

    Once Dalai Lama comes to Western countries, then he forgot what he really did and does in Tibetan society. In fact, millions of Tibetans are infighting because of Dalai Lama’s selfish religious dictatorship. First you should solve your own made problems then gives in front of others.

      @@niydable It has been about thirty years that the Dalai Lama received the Nobel Peace Prize which made him a good image and famous on the planet.
      But, inside Tibetan society, there is full of hatred, extreme discrimination, huge divisions, religious disharmony and infighting because of the Dalai Lama’s monarchic leadership.
      People afraid of holding any different opinions than him, because he supports and encourages people who agree with his position and use their faiths to oppress others who disagree with his opinions. Anyone who speaks against him will be threatened and to risk their lives.
      Therefore, every day thousands of Tibetans get along with extreme discrimination and segregation. Hundreds of families were broken up. People lost their freedom of speech and thoughts under the Dalai Lama’s autocratic leadership and spiritual dictatorship.
