#1 "The Songo" Drum Lesson - 5 Easy Steps

I am posting a video on TH-cam everyday for the entire month of May. The videos will consist of ideas, grooves, fills, etc, that have helped me develop as a drummer at some point along the way. This is something I am doing for fun and I hope you enjoy them as well.
In this video, I demonstrate The Songo linear groove. I divided it into different sections to make is easy for everyone to learn. Most of the time, students learn it in a out 30 mins. Please, dont hesitate to ask any questions you may have in regards to the video.

Amazing video man. I'm so glad I found you by accident; I've been struggling with the songo for a while & I just understood it in this 4 minute video. I would really love to see some clave 3/2 2/3 and other Latin stuff implemented

I've been learning this rhythm in different ways for a while now.
Question: why waste using your right hand to play the pulse on the high hat when you can just use your left foot for that?
Maybe you can play the rumba CLAVE with your other foot

This isn't adding up to me. It seems like there an eight note missing after the second KICK. Id try playing it this way:

To my understanding, it's for instructional purposes. The video was made to teach, not impress. Sometimes if you make a groove too groovy, it makes it harder to actually learn what's going on, and it's better to stick to the basics. I could be wrong, maybe that wasn't his intention, but still, just an idea!
