Just finished it on PC (was waiting so long for it to get there!) goddamn was this an amazing ending, easily one of my fave FF games to date frankly.
Showing the pictures we took really killed me. Each picture represented a fun time a had with the game and it's characters and each one they showed was a punch to my soul. Really was the end of a journey.
Yeah, the slideshow at the end really killed me. It made me feel like it was the end of a journey, one full of laughter and sadness. Then they had to hit you with the camp scene which just made me feel so empty.
Man, can"t agree with you more, well put man. I was not expecting for that to happen, and i was in a party chat with my friend and we were both bawling our asses off. This game had a well put send off for new and old fans.

I also loved it, just.. there are things that are a bit unclear, as the real motives of Ardyn, they were barely explained. Or i was just not to good to understand it, but i would really like to see a DLC of Ardyn, explaining better all about him, something like the Crisis core of FFVII, where they told much better why Sephirot did what he did.
Nyanmaru Unlocked Ardyn pretty much just wanted revenge for absorbing all those daemons into his body and getting rid of the star scourge for the good of the world yet still getting rejected by the gods for being "tainted." The gods even gave his surname Lucis Caelum to another king (One who was jealous of him and had his people condemn him), who ended up becoming the chosen one.

Yes, but he says that the person "who wasnt yet a king" lured him to absorbs the daemons, that means the one that lured him to do that was the ancestors of Noctis, which means Noctis ancestors were the "bad ones" and that makes Ardyn actually be a poor soul that was lured to absorb the daemons and ended up being rejected after cuz of that.
So there are many things you can speculate, is Noctis actually from the Izunia family? the onces that lured Ardyn? or is Ardyn part of the Caelum family as well as Noctis (which means they are family). It was not very clear, also he mentions "you have no idea what i had to stand all this years", which means that he not only wanted revange cuz of being lured into absorbing the daemons, but there happend lot of things more. And i would really like to know what that was. Why the hate was so big as for wanting to destroy the world.
Also, he could have kill Noctis any time, but he didnt, he wanted to kill Noctis until Noctis absorbed the crystal, why did he want that? he could just kill Noctis from the start. But he didnt, he helped Noctis to get the summons, he let Luna give the ring to Noctis, he stopped Ravus from fighting Noctis, he helped Noctis to get one of the weapons. In few words.. he helped Noctis from the start to the end to become powerful and fight king vs king, was it for fun? or he really wanted to be killed by Noctis?
And i believe that was cuz he wanted that Noctis actually ended with his life, he was tired of being inmortal and wanted to die already. You can see at the end that Ardyn tiphat to Noctis. Like saying "thanks for ending this".
I think you want to watch the scene again, because Ardyn says that the jealous person WAS a king, and that the king was not yet chosen by the CRYSTAL. Idk about the whole Izunia stuff. Ardyn couldn't destroy the crystal by himself, so he had Noctis get absorbed by it so that the Crystal can give Noctis all its light to destroy Ardyn, thus rendering it pretty much "dead." Ardyn knew that the only way he could be killed required the Chosen one to also die in the process. Ardyn also killed the Oracle, who could delay the star scourge, to basically speed the process up. So all in all, Ardyn killed the Oracle, caused the King to die, and rid the Crystal of all its light, all the while freeing himself from the curse of immortality. His plan was perfect lmao
Julien Andrew Well, if the king was the one that did it, why would the king put the name "Caelum" on him self? Who are the Izunia then? as you can see there are things not explained about him, or very unclear. and if the kings name is Caelum, that means Ardyn is an ancestor of Noctis.. but again.. where does the Izunia name comes from then if he says "Youll never guess whose name Izunia was", which means is something important to know.
Also, the king can be jealous, but yes.. why was he jealous? if Izunia was healing the ppl, why would the king get so jealous as for throwing him out of the country and making him a daemon? just cuz he healed ppl and the king didnt...?

Those facial expressions after noct says he made his peace are just some of the best and realistic animations. So emotional. I feel like more people should talk about that moment haha (not saying they alreadt don't)

There's something I didn't like about that chapter: The ring. idk but it's so weak and if those robots attacked you it did literally zero dmg.
o I just used the deamons be gone attack on them instead of life drain. since the mechs are deamons themselves.
What is it with people in this comment section implying that a sad ending is a bad one? I think this is one of the best endings to any game in the entire fucking series, just because it's a tragedy doesn't make it bad. If it did, why the hell would Romeo & Juliet, Hamlet, etc. be some of the most critically acclaimed works of all time? There's nothing wrong with a sad ending and I think here, it was appropriate.
I dont want FFXV to end, like seriously i want it to continue i want the story to continue and so on... this game was wonderful

Then we discover later in chapter 13 added content and episode prompto that ardyn does actually have regis's sword...evil.

everyone is telling me that Final Fantasy XV is so disappointing, but for me... It is the best, I cried along noctis journey and then the wedding.... I reacted the same as you! I cried... alot
Won't lie, I bawled my eyes out the way they ramped up the ending. Started sad, got me teary-eyed. Camp scene dropped some tears and hard lump in the throat. Final scene the water works came out once I seen the final picture being the one I selected as my favorite pic of Prompto, the first one where they sat in front of the car and garage at the beginning of the game.
i chose that too, i think that icture was made for that with the regaliaa and all.
The ending felt so bittersweet. The freaking camp scene at the end had me holding back, it hit me right in the feels. The emotions this game brought out in me I swear.
See you guys in FFXVI (at least 10 years later)~
if there is no XV-II,XV-III after this.

it isnt, the reason Xv had rewrites was to make it a conclusive solo game as apposed to the intended trilogy versus was going to be.

Honestly I think Ardyn's one of the best Video Game villains period.
I dont know if id say hes originally, hes very similar to kefka though hes given far more depth than him with his backstory that justifies his vengefulness as well as really subtle well done hints of his wish to die being behind all is actions. All in all though id say hes one of the best villains the franchise has ever had and he single handedly salvages XV's plot after some honestly really disappointing handling of the nifleheim conflict since it essentially existed as a red herring to ardyn's plotline.
also his voice actor is so damn good, both english and japanese.

I never considered Ardyn a villan, everything he wanted at the end happened, he wanted to die he got it (he was inmortal for a curse) he wanted to save the world actually, he pulled that out too by guiding noctis through his whole journey to make him the king he is or was; Ardyn actually could have killed noctis whenever he wanted, but that way the world wouldn't have been saved and he wouldn't have died, he had a bit of a childish attitude but thats it, he helped noct and team too many times.
Ardyn's japanese dub is basically the sean bean 'died early daddy' of japan..
This was my first time playing FF and it had me crying like a bitch at the end of it

It's only because good AAA developed video game music has pretty much died and now these so called people who think they know what good music is, who are so used to generic motifs and atmospheric tones think they know what good music is. They've been listening to shit for so long, they think it's good music. It's like trying to introduce someone who listens to Top 40 music to masterful progressive rock/metal music.
swygster FFXV has music that goes straight up there with the best FF tracks ever. Somnus Instrumental and Apocalypsis Noctis to name a couple. I don't take FF music lightly and I'm thinking Apocalypsis Noctis might be the best FF track to date. Also they did a bang good job with the Omen trailer, straight up best trailer music ever and so well fitted to the visuals. But they can't please everyone since people have different tastes.

He can say whatever he wants, whatever floats the guys boat. At the end of the day, I think the music is fantastic. They knocked it out of the park in the music department, the ost is sublime.
That train scene when you are chasing Ardyn and he's all like "dude are you seriously trying to kill me" that wasn't actually Ardyn, it was Prompto with an illusion over him (combine that with what Prompto said when you free him in chapter 13).

I had three close friends in college and we each have personalities that represent Noctis and the gang perfectly and we all went our separate ways at the end , so that final campfire scene hit me like a truck

I cried even harder than you. Seeing the after credit scene with Luna and Noctis finally together hit me so hard, knowing they were actually dead and this is some kind of afterlife. The story was great, no matter what.
This game doesn't need a follow up .. it's perfect the way it is.
Ardyn is angry cause he absorbed daemons to cure people from the plague
which turned himself into a monster, he was the first chosen one before
Noctis, and instead of choosing him they disbanded him. With anger Ardyn
decided to destroy the world and the most importantly eliminate Lucis
Caelum legacy, but after boring thousands of years he wanted the most
desired battle to be satisfying, so he pushed Noctis to get more
powerful, by leading him to the Six and killing Luna , to piss off Noct
and make him more mature.
Nifleheim was destroyed from within by the plague and turned everyone into daemons, which was Ardyns plan all along since the moment he land his hand with turning daemons into magitek.
Ravus was mad at Noctis cause Luna was sacrificing her life for Kings Calling , but he didnt see in Noctis a true king that can fulfill that prophecy. Ravus cared about Luna so much, that even with the smallest possibility he believed in Noctis just for Luna , that's why he kept Regis sword till the end, even died for it.

When you put 100+ hours into this game and you make it to the end it will reveal your most vulnerable side. You will be proud of your friends after walking tall through it all. You gave the ultimate sacrifice so they could live with your memory and embrace the light that will forever be watching over the land. Noctis, Gladio, Prompto, Ignis Luna, Former King Regis, and yes even Ardyn. Thank you, for everything
This was so fun to watch. Youre so passionately dedicated to this franchise and genuine in all your reactions. That is the main reason i subscribed other than for the game. Its hard to find people on here that dont put on a act and just be real and tell it how it is. I cant wait to hear more of your thoughts on the game, i have held out watching any kind of post-game thoughts or review videos just to watch yours.

Final Fantasy Peasant when I saw noctis and Luna at the end during the wedding. The first thing that popped into my head was what carbuncle says to you in platinum demo. In the world of your dreams you are king.

Things to note:
The tapestry says Noctis Lucis Caelum CXIV, the number being Noctis's Number as King but its decorated for a wedding(or another celebration) and the wall is still destroyed.
My theory is that Noctis thought he was to die, but the Lucii and the Astrals threw him and Luna a bone, restored them to life, and we hear Regis's last afterlife statement to Luna. Them going to sleep, could just be a freaking nap together considering the shit they've been through for the last twenty years or so.
Or if they are dead, they slumber so that they may be reborn.
naaa they are dead this scene is only so we fans don't decide to kill the game creators. Seriously you can see it just as they coming together in the after life in a dreamy state where they are together or a dream we all have of what it should have been. im betting in the afterlife theory because if you see the omen trailer the prophecy was more like noctis was destined to kill Luna an to give himself to the darkness but regis make gladio an the other to accompany him so his destiny could change, in the logo you see that luna's soul was alone but this new ending made it so his soul wont be alone but will sleep forever at the side of noctis (pay attention at the end of the scene they seem to have fallen sleep)
William Ocoró I thought the Noctis in the Omen trailer was supposed to show the route he could have went down, or perhaps a symbolism of Ardyn.
But how do them going to sleep debunk the second theory about going through a rebirth?
DemonEyeX yes, that is why i mean by saying omen was just that a prophecy of some sort an what would had happen if noctis made his travel alone (he is going around with the regalia an following the path of events of the game but alone). Regis received this omen and tried to change it as i said. them going to sleep may not mean anything but you saw that the game logo represented luna an when the game begins luna is sleeping and alone if we connect this with the fact that the initial omen was a representation of this it was the destiny of the know entity or goddes like figure of luna to end in this state of like a dream alone in the afterlife but once the future i changed she ends in noctis company i just say this because that is what the game suggest by changing the logo at the end giving it to you like a sort of price for ending the story and fulfilling a different ending that the one it was supposed to be. The price is that the goddess is not more alone and i said this is not another rebirth because that is not supported by any fact if you see the end the throne was destroyed and abandoned but then changes to a dream like state an is shown a dream like vision you cant deduce from that that there is a new iteration of the story, you can only suppose in base to what has been told.
It would have been different if they show us Regis watching the end of the new line of the story in a new omen an then trying to change everything again. But this is only me connecting dots maybe at the end you are right i just don't see enough proof to say it.
wait also the final prove that the scene with the wedding is not a new time line or rebirth is the picture that noctis gives to luna, that is the picture noctis asked to prompto to take to with him to the afterlife so thy are in a dream like state (the throne is destroyed) after they died that just says everything.

Ardyn and Luna have the same powers. look at his expression after killing luna. he looked at his hands that luna touched seriously. also ardyn absorbs the plague from the infected to heal them, that's why when luna touched him and the golden lights appears it is extremely effective on him because technically he's infected. remember the old man infected with the plague that luna healed. there is an article about this on the final fantasy xv forum titled the truth about ardyn and luna

I agree that Bahamut is Izunia, the first king. Bahamut's eyes were there for a reason, and I think it's to show its connection to Noctis. His eyes are almost identical to Noctis' eyes in colour and shape. Of course there's also the look Bahamut gives Noctis.
Also, they said ages ago that Shiva creates images of herself. There aren't multiple Shivas, she just fucks around lel
You guys know how there's no Hard mode difficulty? well try this on normal: equip the Nixeperience Band, stay level 1, don't touch the ascension grid, no magic. Bam. Hard Mode unlocked!

in my point of view, Ardyn is the best character and best villain in FF series ever. I think he is good deepdown. He saved countless people from daemonization 2000 years ago just to be betrayed by the astrals and the jealous king and those are ones to be blamed.

The ending of this game really tore me up, I'm pretty sure we all at least teared up. We had grown attached and made a connection with each of these characters and to see them all be gone at the end of it all was heartbreaking

despite its flaws, the ending with noct and luna lying on his throne is one of the most beautiful things i've seen
the thing is i didn't cry the first time I watched this through (because I made the mistake of watching a run-through), but watching you play it I BAWLED along with you at the ending. oh my god. i'm in so much pain but I also just want to thank you for your constant enthusiasm and dedication to this franchise! it's so great to go on this journey along with people who genuinely love this story and game series :D

this is my first final fantasy game, my friends have loved it as long as it has been around and got me into it. I honestly say i love this game so damn much
for all the Final Fantasy, FF15 logo reveal at the end and it's meaning is the best in the series so far

I think this was the perfect ending. It ends on how you want it to end. I do not want a Final Fantasy XV-2, it would just ruin the beauty of the end of this game.
I may be dissapointed with this game, storywise, but seeing you get this excited about it man, makes it worth it dude. Glad you got the end of the journey man! Props!

*Regis*:
Regis was hesitant the entire time. Not only did he watch him sadly/angrily (unclear which), but he never once stabbed him until the end - when he had to deliver the final strike/blow. Even when he did, the colouring of his ghost (or soul, again unclear which) was different from the rest. The rest were bright blue, just a shade lighter than the primary blue (sky I think). However Regis's was grey and slightly blue when he is preparing to deliver the strike to Noctis. Poor Regis, he was an amazing character and I loved him even though FFXV was the first game I ever played. He showed that fatherly-son vibe from him to us, his character showed so much wisdom and love for his loved ones.
*Fantasy*:
How they mixed fantasy, action, mystery and all the rest into a game, allowing the players to scan the spectacular environment around them, the chocobos, the flying car, the hunts and camps...made it such a wonderful game to play. The music is so undeniably beautiful, making me cry every single time a sad time came around.
Truly, this was one of the best games I ever played, and will always be my favourite.
About the music. As a music major, the music was very well done. Shimomura did a great job sampling world music to fit the feel of a grand journey across a continent. There was bossa nova, jazz, blues, son cubano, salsa, etc. And then the thematic lietmotif of the somnus theme, and crystal theme were used in the right places in key moments and important fights.
Plus, even if someone doesn't like the original ost, there is an mp3 with loads of classic FF tunes. Music is the most anal thing to complain about in this game, and if any reviewer is knocking points off because of music, they are simply not being objective
The one most underrated theme song of her creation is CINDY'S! Hadn't i knew the composer is a woman, i would say it's a man love song dedicated to his love bird. Try to play it 2-3 times and you will get me. Edit: better listen to the one without any video since on contrary it will help you "visualize" better

I think the story is good in theory but they didn't execute it well. They didn't provide enough backstory into the characters, should have made more cutscenes and made me more invested in the characters/story.

and that was the problem. Its all about execution. Final Fantasy was never about sub series to get the grand scale of things, it was always in one game. Only idiots who buy into that kind of crappy and lazy marketing to get a grasp of what the game is are the ones who never know what's best out there.
Suspicious I already finished the game, it won't give the same effect. You have to time everything right into the story.
Plot theory about XV-2: According to the Genesis paintings, Luna and Noctis ascended to godhood and the bros seem to be appointed as his Messengers (Fal'cie/Lu'cie relationship)

I think they're dead because noctis basically discarded the swords that had become part of him and usually when someone is unworthy or is overpowered by the ring they tend to burn to death so......Plus, how would you explain Noctis meeting Luna when Luna is dead.
I also think we need an after story or some way for noctis and luna to come back, I mean why should they have to suffer of ancestors and why can square enix give us a happy ending there's always a f-ing twist at the end.
Derrick Couch Actually, weren't the KotR just using his soul as a vessel to enter the 'limbo'? They just exited Noctis to finish off Ardyn.
And Noctis burning up was probably because he channeled to much power or it wasn't meant to be used by the dead.
OracleGrouse Yeah but it seems like they became part of him as seen when he absorbed there powers, and when they left they took parts of his life force, given the evidence that every time he uses them he loses health and they all came out of him at once so....
This ending hit me like a truck when I first saw it, no final fantasy since ffx got the feel train going like 10 and 15 great job square!

Already cried buckets from completing it myself but watching this just brought all those feelings back, Such an amazing game, I've always been a final fantasy fan but this game brought it to a new level and we can only get higher from here. A journey that i'll never forget.
Probably my favorite ff ending. Idk why people have an issue with the story, I know it's a modified and shortened version of the ogirnal idea but still it does the job, and very well at that
I love the final ending with luna. when noctis asked prompto for a picture, the only thing I could think about was luna. how everything in the story kind of fleshed out how I thought, but he never got to marry luna. so I thought he would have wanted the picture of her dress. and when that last scene rolled I was like "I fucking knew it!"
I was tempted to take the picture with her dress but since my game only had Noct and Prompto in the shot, I felt I would be betraying Ignis and Gladdy.
I just love how they made Prompto's photography, which I thought originally was just a gimmick to appeal to youth and today's "selfie culture" ended up being so heartwrenching. Brilliant part of the ending and also brought some laughs with people's troll photos.

two theories:
1. wedding and happiness in afterlife
2. ardyn died, then with the power of the ring and the crystal, time of the world got reset in Ardyn never exist in the world so no one died and marriage happened
If time reset though...where did the picture come from. They would of never had to go on that journey and meet who they did or have a picture like that if time reset. I think theorie 1 holds more weight.
When they turn to the throne it is first empty 21:53 then we see the picture around 22:00 , and then Noctis hand appears and he suddenly sits there with Luna next to him.
And then the final moment they close their eyes, and I took that moment as their final *happy* rest.
It is very beautiful but also very sad at the same time. The happiness of being together in the after life, for their final rest, and the sadness that they can't live their life to the fullest due to their sacrifice.
Watching this all over again, I am even crying more then the first time.
While I am bothered by how some of the story showed, how can I hate a game that create such a strong feeling in me?
This could have been so much more, maybe that is why I feel sad and mad in the end, because I do love this game, it is because I like it so much that I feel like this.

The tears just flowed uncontroled. The game gives basically at the very end everybody exactly that, what everbody hopes for to see, because that scene is essentially the whole reason why Noctis goes out for his journey - just only that on that journey not everything went perfectly for him and his friends.
The only sad thign about the game I find to think over it, that we see not what has come out of iris and Cidney 10 years late,r when Noctis returned, that they weren't at Hammerhead. Would have loved to see, how they would look like 10 years later and before seeing the last ending scene, I kind of had my hopes up for it, that Noctis and Iris would be then coming closer together, because anybody wold has seen Brotherhood knows, that she has a crush for him since childhood, what you get to see also in the game as well in some scene, but what we got delieved at the end was just perfect and a very good sorry for the heartbreaking death scene of Lunafreya that crushed for sure at the moment for first many hopes of alot of people until they basically reward us players for enduring the epilog to the very last with what we actualyl want to see for the whole game that we chased after our beautiful "bride", just to lose her the very moment we get her.
And never before have I ever played a game, that has expressed better "friendship" than FF15.
Wouldn't I have seen before brotherhood, before playing the game, the whole game would have been for me just only like less than half of the good experience than it was with knowing what the relationships between Noctis and his comrads and Iris is, which makes that last camping scene so bitter when you just realize that Noctis is fighting with hisself there and finding the right words for saying practically farewell to his best friends, because he's going to sacrifice hisself to restore his kingdom and to bring back the light to lucis (has he knows that bringing back the light will cost his life, prepared by Bahamut for his final duty, his friends don't know this), because doing so comes with a price - losing time of your life, as using the magic powers of the kings costs always lifetime and that for returning the light to the world comes with the price of Noctis life, so that it was possible for them to show us at the very end the ultimate afterlife symbol of happiness for ending his journey - kissing his lovely bride Lunafreya and falling then forever with her asleep to rest in peace together.
Thats how I do see the end of the story and damn, I fucking liked every second of that ending. Definetely a game, that was worth every single Euro/Dollar. Can't wait for the next big FF, whenever that will be. Despite asking myself, how Square Enix wants even to trump all of this now with FF16. But for now I'm just eagerly awaiting the FF7 Remake - this game is my childhood game Nr. 1 and if theres any game, that can be better than FF15, then it can be only the FF7 Remake.
The godfather of good JRPGs. Square Enix must not fuck this remake up, or they and the whole franchise will be over forever, because the shitstorm that a fucked up FF7 Remake would cause would be of such epic proportions, that it will surely last longer than the 10 years that they needed to create FF15 xD. I can absolutely understand Square Enix, why they waited so god damn long to announce it, until first a console generation was there, that would be good and powerful enough to make this ultimative project. FF15 was much easier for SE, because it was a brand new game.
With the FF7 franchise its completely different, a much bigger already existing huge fanbase that will have this time immensive expectations and if they should disappoint us with the remake, then will have SE for a long time a big problem.
But sorry, get too offtopic now with FF7, but its for me the only game, that kind of got me so emotional from begin to the end, like FF15 this year and between these two games lie now freaking nearly 20 years!!! (am 31, so was 12 when I played 7 1997)
However one last thign Ive to say, personally I must say I still like Sephiroth as villain bettern than Ardyn, Ardyns backgroundstory was for me too simple/uncreative. Yes, cause of the actor who played Ardyn has he way more personality in the game, than Seph in FF7, but despite F7 missing due to the lack of technology and power of the console, knowjust what he did, what he said and how he acted in the games, he has had for me a better understandable and trustworthy personality as a manic villain with some kind of paranoia, than Ardyn with the clicheful "revenge" mentality you get to see at the end of the game, while he is at the begin of the game a complete mystery.

I get that Ardyn was angry when he was throne blocked 2000 odd years ago, but as if anyone would allow an immortal king to rule.
He didn't want to rule, he wanted revenge against the gods and a bloodline, or, in the end to be purified, free and, finally, at peace.

I didn't explain enough. When I said "as if anyone would want an immortal king to rule" I was referring to when he originally was given his task from the gods centuries ago.
And just as you said, he seeks revenge against the gods. One of his reasons for this was because even after he did their bidding they denied him the throne.
However I doubt anyone wanted an immortal king was all I was saying. It was honestly just a joke, but I don't imagine anyone would want a king whose reign never ended. For even if they were kind hearted once, they'd probably go crazy one day.
This is still one of my favourite ff games.

Now I gotta make something clear i almost never feel sadness and or anger I pretty much just feel happy mostly because my emotions are locked behind walls that can compete with adamantium and vibranium so the fact that this ending made my cry like a baby is saying something and the only other thing that has ever made me cry like that was the death of my grandma who I spent a lot of time with so in my eyes this game's story can can be put alongside mass effect 1and 2 and tell tales walking dead endings in happiness and sadness respectively so all in all I give it a 10/10 would cry again lol

As someone who never played a Final Fantasy game, I was crying harder than you when I first completed the game. I connected with all the characters and they felt real! Especially Prompto, it's like someone took me and put me into a game. I'm replaying ALL of the old Final Fantasy games right now. Enjoying it very much.
