Probably my favorite Frusciante's release ever, along with the other "brother" album. This version of The First Season is even better than the "mastered" one.

@@poxahigor They're both amazing. One is not "better" than the other. I do miss this style of solo work. Not a huge fan of his solo computer era of the last 10-15 years or so
My mate had this CD and we played it on the way down to Reading Festival. God knows what the year was, but it reminds me of amazing weekend away!

Minor and obsessive quip, but it's hard to think of John recording this when he still had shoulder-length hair. This should be around October/November 1999 when this batch was initially cut. I always associate this album with the promo he was doing from around that time.

Late reply but at a guess he has taken a sample from the virtual analogue drum sounds on the Nord Lead 2 keyboard he owned and put it into his MPC 3000. This is a guess from the photos taken the second time he lived in the Chateau Marmont during this period.
