kinda fun to work on those old engines and good to see you fix it up. We have a metal area at our county landfill and I'm always amazed (and tempted) when I see nice tractors/mowers etc knowing it's probably just a little repair, water in the tank or that switch under the seat.
I really like this big garden tractor ...It looks like the real big ones made back then ..The new ones look like the new cars mostly plastic and modern styling..I mowed the yard with it today and it ran Ok ...Thanks for stopping by ..It has been a while since I talked to you hope you are staying safe ..We are limiting how much we go to any stores or places.
Animals are usually a good judge of character. They know when someone doesn’t like them and stay away looks like you got some good friends. Also looks it’s running great 👍
You shoulda had your squirrel buddy grab that socket you dropped! Engine sounds good! If your only runnin' her in warm weather, straight 30 weight might smoke less.
Thanks ..They are fun to have around but they get fighting with each other and get me involved and when I cuss them out they will sit in the tree cussing at me
I've got a few squirrels around the shop... They can be entertaining! I use anti-seize religiously... an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure... especially true with old engines. That engine runs good! Non-detergent SAE 30w won't smoke as much as a multi-viscosity, but it wouldn't be a good choice for below freezing temps. Of course this time of year that's not an issue. Thumb's up, Jim!
It is getting hard to find 30W around here even 10-30w...I have been using anti-seize lately on all my stuff ..especially on lugnuts.with all the road salt used here..The old engine did ok yesterday I mowed the yard it sputtered a little but I have the carb set as I was testing it
They sure can be pests..It is running better since I mowed the yard and fine tuned the carb for when the blades are spinning..Seemed to run a little cooler than before could be the head is cleaner now and it has better compression too
Hi i appreciate your videos. I am restoring a 16hp briggs for a pressure washer but all wires had been removed when i bought it. Do you have a how-to video for electric start and other electrical for these?
Sorry but no keep searching on line There is a youtube channel I watch ZIPPO VARGA and he has videos on some of the wiring for generators and voltage regulators
Hi Jim. I have the same motor Briggs. It seems like I'm having an issue with fuel supply. If I force gas into the filter it runs great till the filter runs dry. Can you give me any advice on fuel like size and fuel filter ? Thank you so much.
Just use one of those little red or white ones A car filter like I use is really meant for use with a fuel pump I get away using mine since I have 2 1/2 gallon gas tank that sets high enough for the gas to push down through it
@@not2fast4u2c thanks for the fast reply. I'm using a small paper filter but gas seems to not feed into it on its own. The filter is facing the right way. There's no clogs in the line it's all new. I'm running out of ideas. Runs perfect when I force gas through the line.
Are you sure it is the block and not the head ..I would check both with a good straight edge and feeler gauge If the block needed done and the engine is stripped down to the bare block I would find a surface that is really flat and turn it upside down on some different grits of sand paper and sand it level even if it took me a day it would be worth the time to do it
@@not2fast4u2c the heads have warped to the warped deck. Yes. Unfortunately I would have to have valves machined at the right height and all kinds of stuff. I could run two gaskets but I don’t believe in that. If it don’t mate it ain’t worth running IMO. I have them on the shelf until I find a runner.
Cómo puedo reparar, la base del escape del motor se aislado la rosca donde atornilla el tubo de escape , de podría soldar las orejas donde coge la basé del carburador
Good little series Bud!! Well done!!☺
Thanks 👍

Nice job Jim, you have that 16 hp running and sound great
Thanks ..It ran ok today when I mowed the yard ..Smokes a little .
The engine sounds good jim nice job, grey squirrels aren't too bad the red ones are irritating.cheers!!!

Squirrels. HHMMMMM . Tree rats. Nice work on the engine. Smooth baby. Isn't it fun when they fire right up. It will seat and stop smoking.

Fried and squirrel stew is good for you. The engine sounds pretty good!!
If we ever get to a SHTF ..They might go missing LOL...I have mowed the yard and it is running OK

Fun project and a little smoke never hurt any motor, at least you know it is getting well oiled, eh?
Burning oil makes carbon and will over time cause the same problem with the EX valve
Nice Job Jim ! Love the Anti seize . I Been Using for Years ! I'll have to Try the Gasket Sealant Some Time . I use Form A Gasket .
Thanks ..I use the brush on stuff a lot when I have paper gaskets

Looks like the same exact tractor I'm working on. 716h. What size fuel like is that ? I think mine may be too small.
@@shanepuchalski3941 I think the hose is 5/16 same as an old car
I have the same engine my block just needs to be decked cause it’s warped and won’t mate with the head correctly. It’s making me so upset.

it says Semi synthetic engine oil
THANKS
$5 a quart? Try Walmart or the dollar tree.
I had to get what the small town store had
@@not2fast4u2c LOL, I fully understand. I have the same issue here.
Most.of your high mileage oil's are Simi synthetic
It may do the old thing some good to keep it from burning oil
