    Hello there fellow model makers. I know that the title of this video is slightly misleading. It should clarify that this is for airbrush beginners. However, I have since then put together a beginners' series for hand painting a kit as well. Please do check those videos out if you want to hand paint your kits:
    th-cam.com/video/8YBrTCtSTkI/w-d-xo.html
    This link is to the complete build. If you want a more in depth tutorial, I have a more detailed four part series from this same build. Hope that helps :)

    I've literally just bought my first kit at 45 years old, I however have also spent 2 weeks buying paints, glues and spray primer , brushes and lots of silly things like cocktail sticks
    I'll make my model middle of the week using the skills I've acquired over the years and see how I can translate them from aircraft mechanics and drawing to scale Modeling, wish me luck 🤞

    Its green ;) Cuttingplate :) Could not find the name for it! I've made a model before, but do you suggest me starting with a lvl 3 or lvl 4 from Revell? Can't rly define the difficulty levels from them....

    • @scalemodellingmadness4114
      @scalemodellingmadness4114 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right. This is a cutting mat or a hobby mat. This particular one is by a company called Morn Sun and is A2 size. I got it from Amazon.
      As for the kit. My advice would be: Don't go by the skill level so much. There is little difference between a skill level 3 and level 4 kit. Go for a kit of a vehicle or airplane that you like. That is what will keep you excited and focused on the build.
      Good luck with your project. Let me know if I can help in any way :)

      Hey Velar, sorry for the late reply. If you haven't already bought paints, may I make a few suggestions. I would suggest you start with Vallejo Air acrylic paints. These I feel are a very good place for a beginner to start. They are pre-diluted so you can just spray them straight from the airbrush, no need for any thinners or anything. They are water based, so if for any reason you feel that you need to thin the paint down, a few drops of water work fine. Also, being water based, cleaning up after is also easy. And they are decent in case you want to hand paint. Once, you get comfortable you can then start experimenting with Tamiya, Mr. Color, etc. In case you don't get Vallejo at your hobby shop, then you can try Mig or AK acrylic paints.
      Good luck :)

    This is the old Monogram Pro Modeler kit, apparently based on the Revell Mk II kit from the sixties, and it shows. Cockpit is a bit off, the center of the lower , wing lacks the characteristics " gull wing" typical of all Spits--impossible to hide, and difficult, and usually expensive to fix. Finally, it looks like the Red on the decal sheet (in Yank,, "de-CAL", in Brit, "DE-cal") is off, seems to have been what's known as Venitian Red. Whilst it's a bit more complex, and I can't vouch for the paints, it. looks to me like the Airfix Starter. Kit of the same subject is a much better choice.

    • @scalemodellingmadness4114
      @scalemodellingmadness4114 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you can use any cutter your are comfortable with. Just don't cut too close to the kit piece when removing it from the sprue or tree. Cut away from the piece and once it is lose, then use your cutter or sanding paper to clean up the piece :) Once you are more into the hobby you can slowly think of buying specialised tools, if you ever feel the need for it.
