You should make the lid of the bit holder magnetic too! That would be so helpful as a impromptu part tray, esp in combination with some ridges to form a grid for organising
For a GPU partner ship, you could add a second bios switch that is a loud mode
What’s the purpose to showcase SFF build with FE card if it is practically unobtainable. At least in EU almost nobody sells FE for strict MSRP when they can sell Partners cards with better markups. And partners cards are generally bigger than FE.

ASRock's higher end ITX boards tend to be insanely feature packed. They really love the small form factors and it shows. I always love seeing what they cram in there.
The hard clam shell magnetic bit holder needs small ribs that create little divided sections in the lid that mesh when closed to fit between the bits. It would only need to be maybe or two to create 2 or three sections for organizing your screws.
Maybe like little squares for more compartments but also magnetised to you can open it and grab bits while it holds screws, you could make it the same polarity as the magnet holding the bits in the base and get a satisfying pop when it opens as it pushes the lid away

@@Sidowse I don't really think so. some models of the 3090 ti could reach up to 600 watts overclocked and still couldn't touch the 4090(frame chasers/jufes is my source in this case). the ad102 die is extremely powerful, to the point where a partially locked one is by and far the fastest consumer gpu.

Too true. There's a reason they've stayed in business for this long even without people recognizing them. Their cases might not always be the right price, but price doesn't matter as much if it's the right case. They have great products and seem to put a lot of thought into things. I love it

For the bit holder I'd love to see the top lid magnetic but probably not quite as strong as the bit retention side since it can be used as a parts tray so I don't bump it and send screws flying!
Don’t know if that would work since If you put to magnets together they push apart kinda like those old magnetic trains if u try to put the magnets together they push apart but I’m also not 100% sure if different strength magnets would stop that from happening or not!!
26:38 Its about the Form Factor. If you opened that 600W supply, its mostly empty. They will use the same case with different labeling for 1200W, which is still mostly empty but has more heatsinks inside. Try comparing their mass, instead.
43:18 You can wire-wrap the fan to the heatsink with thin gauge steel wire (~30 gauge). It's just as good as the clips but more permanent. Yet not as permanent as Super Glue.
1:10:00 you need to have a hex-nut below the grip on the shaft so people have the option of using an open-ended wrench to apply torque. Or perhaps a ratcheting torque wrench.

A water cooled RTX4090 would fit in even smaller cases. Would love to see a RTX4090 with dual active water blocks (active water cooled front AND back) benchmarked against standard air cooled versions, in terms of performance, cooling, & size for fitting in different cases.
Not really. Water cooling doesn't save space since you still need roughly the same sized heatsink at the end. It would give you more flexibility though.
It would waste even more space since you need a pump and space for radiators and tubes.

I don't have your backpack (I have a second run MOS blackpack), but deeply appreciate your transparentness in fixing your zipper pulls. That's the first (and only) thing wearing out on my backpack. I've even changed the way I open it to try avoiding it breaking 😅. Could I buy your repair kit separately? I found the sliced metal hinge intriguing and love carabiners!
Gotta agree on the noctua topic. I have my NH-U12P SE2 for....many years (more than 7) now and they have replaced a fan three times and have provided me with new mounting hardware within only 2-3 days. Amazing customer service and I have since bought three other coolers from them.
Yeah my NH U12s has been runnibg since 2015 and I will most likely use it to cool my next computer, good to hear, I'll need some new brackets. But I have already heard from many people, I just have to drop them an email and they'll send it cheap or free. I was a noob back then so I'm quite happy that I went with Noctua. I almost got some all in one type thibg, that probably would have died years ago.
I really love the fact that there is support for an ultra slim odd, a conventional form factor psu, and a triple slot gpu on top of it. Their previous milo cases all ditched either one of 3 things.

Being in the engineering world i could help but uncontrollably laugh in sympathy for Kyle when he found out Linus leaked the fixed shaft screw drivers and veiwers wanting black shaft stubby.
one of my favorite features of the wera screwdriver is the shaft that moves up and down to allow for a stubby or long shaft. It's a feature I would love to see in your driver
About the carabine pull zippy things around 39:00. Couldn't you just put a smallish split ring in there, which would then allow you to switch and swap to whatever you wanted to use as a pulling device? Would add 5-8mm of extra length and a second joint. But would allow users to switch depending on their needs that weekend or something.
I do like that slim form factor. I imagine it isn't cheap to do a high end build similar to this one in this exact case.

And what were you gonna do with those other PCI-E lanes anyway, as long as you have a couple high speed m.2 slots, and decent internal headers, it'll suit 99% of gaming use cases.

not really, people have fit 4090s in the fractal ridge and that's only $130 usd which seems normal for a pc case, but this case in question is almost $200 dollars

I was sure the year would end badly for me but I think Amazons LPA33X is spot on with what they do and how they do it. Can't say for how long it's gonna work and for sure it is overyhped right now but even for half a year or something it would be smart to ride the wave and then eventually jump away but the thing is why this is smart right now is because it's so cheap, won't ever find a better entry than now

Hot tip: the ASUS ROG Strix B660-I Gaming Wifi (long name yes yes) motherboard offers all of the same features and ITX format, but at a B660 price level. Full pcie 5.0 bandwidth, 2x m.2 support, ddr5, 2.5gig ethernet, wifi, 12th and 13th gen Intel cpus, and you can even do some overclocking stuff because even tho it says B660, it is essentially a Z690 board in disguise simply to gain ITX marketshare, and Asus left some neat overclocking features from their Z690 range that can bypass certain restrictions.
I got it running with my 13900K and DDR5 and the performance from this board is amazing, as are all the features. More than I could ever need. From all my research, this was the best new-gen ITX board I could find, and I actively chose it over full ATX boards despite not being space constrained. It's simply just better value/performance.
For the fixed screwdrivers.... Why not have 2 different sized handle types and then interchangeable shafts. That way you can minimise the SKU count and let people choose the "Bits" they want. Surely you guys can come up with an attachment mechanism that allows for delicate and heavy cranking drivers. From half length bits to massive long bits, do it all.
I in no way expected there to be a black shaft short screwdriver, but if there ends up being one, I will totally buy one.
I think if the metric for the LEd long shaft is good, they might just splash for one...
You might be able to collab with certain products if you add like LTT approved components or something like that. With the new lab I'm sure that you can come up with something and that people will buy it because they will know for certain that it is a quality product.
Awesome Vid Linus please keep up the amazing content and thank you for all the videos you and the team produce!! Couldn't help myself but wanted to share an idea for the fixed screwdrivers to hopefully help out but don't want to annoy you being just another person putting their 2 cents in that you've probable heard all before... soo ignore if you wish but my idea is having the different types of handles made from whatever materials and sizes and have a bit holder in the handle itself where the buyer can select what ever sized handle they wish to have to suit them and purchase the shafts separately with different styles and lengths as options. The buyer can either change out the shafts as they please or have a set amount of handles and shafts always together with a strong magnet to help hold the shaft in. This way the buyer can make their own sets as they please, limit how many sku's / products you need as a seller and you have only handles and shafts not every different design or style you think of.
For the bit holder, can you have a small grid similar to the iFixit bit set where the lid has a little grid so you can actually separate and sort the difference. Small screws

Went with a friend to a shopping mall a couple of months after the phone came out (I'm on Brazil and these things take time to arrive here anyway), the friend was going to buy the Fold and I was there to finally see if I could have a phone with NFC and leave Xiaomi and their shitty software.
The crease was freaking STRONG. Definitely affected the view, and it made noises. I ended up convincing my friend to get the S2X FE (can't remember which one) and I got the M53. The rest of his money was much better spent at a headphone.

The bit holder is cool, the top of it should also be magnetized so when you are using it as a parts tray other metal bits and bobs don't fall out if you knock it over.
Thank you for showing off the new carabineer solution for the backpack. It was very expensive to get a backpack shipped to here in Sweden but it is a very nice bag that I really enjoy using.
Instead of fixed shaft screw drivers you could make it semi modular. The handle and shaft could be connected with some sort of locking mechanism so you could easily mix and match handles and shafts for different applications. This would help reduce SKU count by allowing you to just stock shafts and handles rather than all the different combinations while still giving the user a choice for what they want.
Edit: For attaching the shaft to the handle you could have a screw on cap at the shaft end of the handle that you remove to insert a keyed shaft then slide the cap over the shaft and screw it back on to lock in the shaft.
as nice as that is, that means it's no longer a fixed shaft. nothing beats a true fixed shaft in durability and stability.
i think the thermo problem came from the lack of thermal paste you put on the CPU you can see many time on the video that the radiator was not fully coverted with it when you dissaembled it. so... i was wondering if it will work the whole video.
As far as fixed shaft, possibly take a look at southwire's double ended replaceable shaft screwdriver. It would limit the amount of skus needed
Oh man, I'm getting flashbacks to when I first got into building gaming PCs. Back when the GTX 400 series and AMDs 7000 series were slugging it out. LTT, Hardware Canucks, Jay, Tom Logan, etc. were all doing small form factor and open air builds with Lian Li cases and other interesting "boutique" companies... Take me back! I didn't know it at the time, but life even just 10 years ago seemed so simple.

I bought a Noctua NH-D15 for my AM2+ board. When I upgraded to AM4, all I needed to do was get new mounting hardware for it. Great to see from a manufacturer
Please make sure the bit holder has a label system so you know what bits are called. You ship with a paper layout of what each bit is, both in the screw driver and on the cardboard box. Those labels are extremely useful. My altoids tin solution is only missing that label system.
This is for the creator warehouse team. The fixed shaft screw drivers. You should do a set of different hollow handles where the long "bits" will insert. The bits could have a mechanism to hold the "bit" in place as you would in an impact screwdriver. This will allow you to have a single skew for the handles and other ones for the extra long/medium/shorter "bits". This will also allow you to increase the "bit" loadout in time. This will allow individuals to have several screwdrivers at the same time with different handles for different purposes without the need to buy whole sets.
I have the black full size screwdriver and I would buy the stubby one either way but would definitely prefer the black one...even if it costs a little extra
Always loved the SilverStoneTek cases! I just upgraded the fans in my silver aluminum FTZ01 case and NT06-Pro cooler from the brown Noctua NF-A12x15 fans to the SilverStone Air Slimmer 120 fans (SST-AS120B) and am incredibly impressed with the performance and silence. Thought I would recommend for those interested in building one of the small form factor cases. Down-draft with the cooler is the best config; however, the unlocked processor is too hot unless you undervolt it and is best to just use a lower wattage locked version. I've been thinking about one of these cases for a minute now, thanks for the great video!
I like it when he peels the protective film off the back I/O shield and you see the shield pulling away from the motherboard, good quality there.
just once I'd love for one of those build redux type sites to have a "I have some parts but I need help figuring out the rest" modes so I can put in that I have a 3060, a case but no cpu, psu and I need another 2 8gb sticks of ram at minimum

In my Silverstone rvz01e the 120x15mm fan fitted just on point and worked like a dream, as it sits direct to the side opening
this is common in my city. i once bought a used computer for IDR400,000 (around USD30), it's a Core2Quad computer with a Zyrex casing and it was so small I couldn't fit my GTX 960 and just took off the 3.5" ribcage with a pliers. the computer is not used now but it's still operational and I'm still using the GTX960.

Maybe an idea for your fixed shaft screwdrivers - have a small generic plastic handle on all medium length shafts that you can insert into a larger grip interchangeably ... Then you can use it for small jobs where you need the smaller grip and for larger jobs just insert into your nifty larger grip and use it for larger jobs

@LinusTechTips !!! Suggestion: Make the top part of the bit holder have a similarly magnetic plate, so that when its being used to hold screws the top doesnt get flipped up accidentally and send your pieces flying, and then it would be reversibly magnetic for storage as well!
14:00 yeah, that is why me with my SFFF (Small Form Factor Fetish) have a wild collection of weird and slim fans. The Scythe Kaze Flex are ok for coolers as well as far as I can say, static pressure wise. For your Prob there might be a boxed Wraith Fan somewhere, basically for free and moddable with its bolt pattern

My ideas for the shown parts tray... Make the holes round not hex. So you don't need to look when you place the bit. Or make it round on the top and make a swivel or fusion/merge of the round and hex shape on the bottom hole part. So they twist/screw to the right position. And I would make the very top edge of the holes beveled so it's even easier to stick the bits in.
This is a really good idea.
For the capsule bit holder, you oughta put a magnet in the lid, and partition it off, so it's even better as a screw holder

Same! Although obviously the cpu temps would be better, this newest intel cpu is a big power waster. I think this form factor could still work if the cpu had watercooling leading outside the case
Tool tip for you. You should knurl the entire shafts on the stubby driver so it's easier to spin quickly with your fingers.

Love my Z Fold 3, I have it for over a year, no problems. I had to connect to remote desktops a lot as part of my job, and it is great when you have a big display in my pocket
If you magentise the inside of the lid of the bit box you can use it as a parts tray even more easily!

As an engineer, I can say we try to make it the best for our customers but get limited by budget or management. Thank you, Linus
The problem with engineers though, if it was up to them, products would take way too long or even never be released. Plus they could end up over engineered and cost too much. I know engineers who gladly scrapped basically years of their life because they were not happy with something.
@@zee-fr5kw I 100% agree with you on this. I think it depends on the engineers and the engineering lead. A good lead works with business product owners and the like to ensure that the requests are getting done and that the engineers work at a good pace and have everything they need. All engineers are different. Some like to finish tasks way too fast some want to take their time. It's the job of the lead to know and plan work for the right type of person for the job. Sometimes you need quick work, and sometimes you need a steady hand. Usually, engineers don't have the option of taking or setting the time it takes. It's usually a group effort for how much effort/time goes into a task. I hope that gives a bit of insight into the process. It's a bit complex, but so is everything once you pull the curtains

The new carabiner design should have a keying feature at the mouth which, when engaged or mated, could prevent lateral movement at the mouth. That potential for lateral movement under light forces is the main reason it was failing so often in the original design.

You could always put powerful magnetics in both the keyboard and desk to align the keyboard up for charging

You should do a passive build in it, then hook up a duct to the side and put an industrial air conditioner on it xD I mean the case is literally begging for it with those fully vented side panels and ALOT of passthrough space for airflow. You should get a really cool venturi effect going, which should draw out the heat
I have had a couple of those titanium carabiners and the "spring" part gave out after about a year of daily use so they are not so resilient. Of course this is anecdotal data from a small sample size but you might want to stress test them.
Hey Linus, how about instead of fixed shaft screwdrivers, or alongside fixed shaft screwdrivers, do some various length bits for the stubby that can still fit in the same places. So if you need a long narrow shaft you can just grab a 10" bit that goes in the stubby. Or a 5" bit. And you only need to stock the bits.
Definitely kudos for upholding your word and working on the carabiners for the backpack, but wouldn't the carabiners still need a little vertical piece in the part where they meet to make sure they don't move sideways?
I'm no carabiner designer, but most of the ones I ever used had that and sideways movement was never a problem.

I have Silverstone SFX PSU (SX650) and my 24pin cable also have that 4pin part Linus shows at 31:22. Got it inside PSU just like manual said, and never got any problems.
I assume that the newer packbacks wont have the zipper issue when it's fixed? Also could the bit holder have a magnet also on the top cover so that your hardware wont accidentally fall out? And is there gonna be a like bundle that could have both screwdrivers and the bitholder?
I actually intend to so something similar, but was thinking about using the the 7950x3d delided, with a direct die cooling frame, the id cooling is55, noctua industrial 120mm fan, and setting the temp target in bios to 80 to 85 with no offset.

Gaming PC just aren't efficient mostly because of the graphics card.
I think the biggest thing for prosumers would be shared memory, to have 256GB DDR5 installed and the GPU and CPU both having access to it, i think would currently have the biggest performance uplift especially for 3d and VFX guys

1:26:48 Linus is spot on. Before the age of 10, my son learned how to Root his Samsung SM-320 TabPro tablet. And he did it all on his own with help from TH-cam Videos. I had just showed him a few things, but he did it ALL on his own before the age of 9!
If you want to keep that same energy? You got to be there as a father for your sons. They will turn out to be the brightest kids out there. This IMO also may be the reason why some mental disorders are so prevalent.
The Mind and soul is hungry for new experiences and not just knowledge. Working with Hand tools, to mowing the lawn really does do wonders for a kids development. And those skills directly translate to a better quality of life.

Something with a metalcore that can be taken off to make it fully magnetic if you want to but will make it not magnetic while transport?!?!... It might break stuff that is "alergic" to magnets?!

There are cases to where bands and other organizations will have identifiable merch with numbers and such for the event items, while they have "reproduction" versions to sell elsewhere. This has been standard in the collectibles market for.... hell, longer than I've even been alive.

My issue with the Black shaft driver was that the way it was described was that the black shaft versions were already made, and you wanted to let people order those out of the premade stock, not that they would be made to order.
I finally got mine and its great though haha

@Linus, your line about engineers wanting to do a quality job is spot on. I'm an engineer 20 years out of university and have been fortunate enough to work for Aston Martin and McLaren racing amongst others. You are absolutely right. Given free reign a good engineer will more often than not come up with the best solutions, the best quality products and so forth. But things like timescales and commercial issues tend to pull us back. Often with good reason but sometimes it compromises too much. So often things "just aren't made like they used to be". It's true. Engineers used to run manufacturing organizations. Now it's bean counters or lawyers.
My work is reflected in my PC builds. I'm a cable management perfectionist. I calculate air flows from the fan OEM specs and make sure the case is either balanced or slightly over pressurised because that's what I've done at work before for optimised cooling etc...

Would like to see spring steel retention clips in the screwdriver handle as the plastic ones have broken when dropped on ocassion.

1) If i had a backpack and i got the carabiner and YKK zippers I'd 1000% use both interchangeably. How to do that without streeting the zipper? EASY get a tiny double loop keychain ring and install that permanently instead of the zipper pull. Now you can wap the zipper pulls to your linking without upsetting Linus and Tynan!
2) If the lid of the bit holder somehow also could be magnetic then it would be a magnetic tray! Please consider if that's at all viable, maybe it could somehow double-dip into the magnet in the bottom though folding or by having the bit holderlift and move to the lid leaving hte magnetic bottom in the bottom for a magnetic tray (but then not a magnetic bitholder.

the question about changing phones batteries surprised so much, battery shapes haven't changed a lot for phones/tablets (maybe some laptops) and we had thin phones before that allowed you to take the back cover off and they were water resistant too. How people forgot such things in just a few years is insane.
The heatsink orientation on the cpu cooler needs to be turned 90° so the fins line up with the ventilation holes at the back of the case, IMO
I have the 4080 in a thermaltake tower 100 itx case, and temps and noise is phenomenal

Add a magnet to the lid of the bit box too so it can double as a screw bowl that won't spill your screws out when you knock it over.

I just did an itx build in a silvertone case and the only cooler I I had on hand that would fit to cool a 5800x (not 3d) was a wraith prisim. Got Temps in the 90s. I found that best I could fit in case was same noctua linus us using and now my Temps are in 60s
